It is going to be slow moving as we push toward our rush. Also, an accident investigation, east brunswick, new jersey turnpike, south past new brunswick, all lanes are blocked. You are going to want to use alternate such as the garden state parkway. Around here just give yourself some extra time because all lanes are blocked there. It happened around 1 30 this morning, at lancaster avenue and lankenau drive in wynnewood. That car burst into flames, after the crash. An eyewitness took the driver to the hospital. Right now we are working to find out the condition of that driver. This morning, people in the lehigh vale of course waking up to the first taste every went they are season. Erika, good morning, thats right, not driving. We have finch in the car today, not day bick, surveying center city and allentown. Eighth street right near chew street. Ill show you what i am seeing here. We are seeing very slick roads out here, as well, very rainy, wet streets, trying to turn you around there. There we go. Going downhill. As you can see, lot of reflection off the street here off the blacktop here in allentown, that just shows you how wet these roads are. We have seen ponding on the way up here, on the extension, as well as highways up here in the allentown area. So be careful, especially now that it is still dark outside to make sure youre being careful and taking it easy out here on the road. We do know even though right now there is not so much of ice were seeing or sleet, just rain, that penndot has been ready, they did spend time in 12hour shift over the past day or so, brining roads in case it did get hazardous out here. Still may see some trucks on the ready along the highways and the roads, just in case, to take care of the street, as they become hazardous. So right now, seeing much more of a heavy and steady rain event out here in allentown. Not too many people up and about at this time. But when they do wake up, and hit the street, they will find the roads are pretty slick, pretty wet in part, the cars right now are navigating and so far so well. Eyewitness news was at penndots control center yesterday. Penndot tells us, it has new equipment in trucks to better monitor the locations on area roads, as well as how much salt they have to spread. The Cleveland Police officer who shot and killed a 12 year old black child who was playing with what turned out to be pellet gun will not be charged. A grand jury declined to indict timothy low man, white police officer, for shooting tamire rice who was gun down in november of 2014. The boys family condemned the decision, but urged for peaceful protest. Prosecutors say the officer had a reason to fear for his life. It is clear, that had these officers known this was possibly a child, and the gun was possibly a toy, they would not have considered this incident to have been so serious, and almost certainly would have used different tactics. There was expectation that this would be the outcome of the grand jury process. But there is nothing like knowing it is real now, and they have to live with that. In a statement, tamires mother said she feels that the prosecutor, quote, deliberately sabataged the case. She also urged federal officials to pursue civil rights charges. Environmental Officials Say theyve pinpointed a massive methane gas leak near a Southern California neighborhood. The hazardous gas started spewing out of the gas Storage Facility in october, forcing hundreds of families to leave the area. An estimated 70,000 pounds of gas is being released every hour, thats roughly a quarter of the daily methane emissions for the entire state of california. Stopping that leak could take months. I think it is terrible. And it is making a lot of people sick around here, i know that. Theyve got to do something about it. Gas facility Officials Say they hope to have that leak plugged by march. 4500 more people are reportedly on a waiting list to be moved out of the port a ranch area until the leak is fixed. 5 16 right now. So off in the distance you have a mountain, you wont see it this morning, though, just way too skewed by all of the lowlying cloud cover. Clearly the rain falling up here in Northampton County, in the little town every bethlehem, and the christmas star clearly also not visible off in the distance, as with all of the rain coming down. Just not going to find t visibility get dropped as a result of all of that rain. We go to storm scan, huge zoom. I want to show you this entire storm system, you know, at its core here. So you have got a lot of moisture to work with obviously, but you need the cold enough air in or the to see the wintery weather. We were right on the edge of that through the overnight, now starting to see some of the milder air lift in. And thats why this pink line starts to roll, in fact, we can zoom in one more time, further and further to the north with every passing hour, now still going to find these Little Pocket every pink across portions of the most outlying suburbs, in lehigh and Northampton County but generally this is rain at this point, for most of you, unless you are traveling north, and the Winter Weather alerts have actually since been reduced even through the lehigh valley. News just the poconos, points north, in Winter Weather advisory, enough moisture to produce some substantial snow up through northern maine main. So, we kind of got luck think time around. If you were hoping for snow, i know some of have you been, just not going to happen this time around. But look at the spread, anywhere from the mid 50s, to the 20s, even just a handful miles away, what 100, 150 miles max. So what that tells you is that there is a transition taking place, as we speak, the further north you go, the colter will be, and when you have got 20s, mid 20s, in albany, you are looking at snow out there.
