Reporter well, good morning, rahel, jim. Yep, police just cleared the scene, moments ago, and right now theyre not exactly sure why this family was target the. They say it appears to have been an attempted robbery. Though the homeowner was shot twice, his wife and four little girls are okay. Terrifying moment for a family of six in the citys frankford section. A gun battle right in their own living room. Leaving the father of four little girls seriously hurt. Preliminary information is that this was a Home Invasion robbery, where the perpetrators were met by the 27 year old homeowner, who had a gun on his own. Police say the family just returned home to the 1900 block of pratt street around 11 00 monday night. There was a knock on the door, and two men forced their way in. There was a struggle between the 27 year old homeowner, and these two males. And one of the perpetrators did shoot the homeowner two times, in his mouth and his leg. Chief inspect store scott small says the homeowner then returned fire, fatally shooting one of the men in the head. The other ran off. This violence unfolding while the mans wife and four young daughters, ages four, three, one, and five months, were upstairs, getting ready for bed. Were still very fortunate that his wife, nor any of his four children, were struck by gunfire, or injured, in anyway. And police are still looking for that second suspect. They hope several surveillance cameras on this block will help them id that person. Meanwhile, that father is in serious condition, at hahnemann hospital. Well the two week long manhunt for south jersey murder suspect, Jeremiah Monel was over. He was arrested yesterday after into a wooded area folsome county, on the run since his estranged wife was found murdered in her home last month. He is being held on 1 million bail. In other news this morning, fatal car accident in montgomery county. The unidentified victim pronounced dead on the scene after being hit on ridge pike near northwestern avenue in springfield township. That was about 7 30 last night. Nearby roads were closed while the accident was being investigated. The driver involved in that accident is cooperating with police. Meanwhile, Bensalem Police believe this truck hit a cyclist and then drove off. This crash happened around 9 30, in the morning, on tennis avenue near state road. Cyclist suffered serious injuries. Dozens of peco customers have power back after long lasting warehouse fire in north philadelphia. Computer systems were down, across the country, customs and border protection, blaming computer outage that it says affected processing systems, leaving various airports clocked with disgruntled holiday travelers on one of the busiest travel days of the year. While scrambling to fix the problem, the agency says customs officers maintained security standards, while processing travelers through, quote, alternative procedures. Officials said, quote, there is no indication that the Service Disruption was malicious in nature. After four hours, all affected airports were reportedly back on line.
