A car was found riddled with bullet holes there were no reported injuries. Also new this morning a pedestrian is rush to the hospital have after being struck by a car in olney, it happened after 4 00 a. M. At broad and champlost streets. The six fiveyear old man suffered two broken legs, investigators tell us two vehicles remained at the scene but no word on which driver may have struck that pedestrian. Vicious beating caught on tape in a olney gas station, two people were arrested but several others are south in the brutal attack. Health reporter Stephanie Stahl explains why Health Officials are taking action. Report rorrer shop rite is recalling classic humus because of possible listeria contamination. Delaware state Health Department issued a warning telling resident to discard humus while it determines what establishments eating food contaminated with listeria can cause an infection known as list tear owes is. It can get out of the intestines in the bloodstream and can cause even self lights and if a woman is pregnant it can, precipitate a miscarriage. Reporter listeria infections are dangerous for anyone with a weak immune system. Blue Bell Creameries has recalled 25 products in the last in overlies tear use concerns. Health Officials Say three people who ate tainted ice cream from blue Bell Creameries have died. Experts say listeria a bacteria found in soil ape water can grow even in cold temperatures unlike other bacteria. That means a contaminated product can get even more dangerous in the the refrigerator. The bacteria can multiply so it becomes more likely to make you sick, so it is very important that you check your refrigerator, that you dont have have any of these products and discard them. Members of the northeast Philadelphia Community are left picking up the pieces after vandals strike at Roosevelt Playground in mayfair. Eyewitness News Reporter matt river has the story where neighbors are calling this a recurring problem. Reporter trash dumped all over the park, graffiti sprayed in several places milk cartons thrown and smash against a building wall it is all vandalism and some of what neighboring lives near roosevelt play ground in northeast philadelphia saw thursday night. Things have been happening like this for the last, between five and ten years. Reporter the the woman who took those photos didnt want to show her face. She said shes afraid of the teens who run a mcas temperatures get warmer turning the public park into a place that shes scared to visit. It makes me very upset. I dont like to sees my neighborhood go down the tubes like this. Reporter she says the vandalism is a symptom of the larger problem when teenagers take over the park at night and make it and the neighborhood unsafe. Nobody cares. We saw them playing friday morning and told of the vandalism and she was not surprised. Is it frustrating to see people treat the park like that. Absolutely, this is a fantastic resource for us. That mulch is supposed to be used by an after School Program to help kid learn how to garden. It is not their park. It is all of our parks. We really want to change philadelphia and make it better. We need to have a different approach. Three years ago she settled in society hill with her husband and daughter and develop a passion for making philadelphia a more attractive place. Until we focus programs on making things better for every philadelphian, we are not going to be able to take the city forward and realize the the vision of a better philadelphia for everybody. I necessity that the intent of the teachers and their hearts are all in the right place and we need to listen to them on how we can get the best resources to the students. I think we need to leverage data, to see what programs are working and what programs are not and if programs are in the working we should in the be spending money on them any more. Reporter agy kelly is higgins niece and joined her brother will and sister marge to welcome their uncle home at a special ceremony. According to army record the the 20 yearold from fishtown became a prisoner of war in february 1951. During the massacre. 726 soldiers died. I cannot believe that they found him. To be honest with you. Reporter another Family Member gave a dna sample to the army to see if the remains at a military facility in hawaii matched corporal higgins. They have been in hawaii for 25 years but they were never identified. Last November Higgins family solved their mystery. I feel great. I really do. I feel at peace now. Reporter army officially declare higgins dead on december 31st, 1953, his mother and two older brothers a marine and naval officer died before ever finding out whatever happened to corporal higgins. I feel close to him because we have been talking about him so much. Wish i did get to know him. Reporter now almost 65 years later his family will hold a special Funeral Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in newtown to say good bye and thank you too a 20 yearold who took a chance out of high school to serve his country.
