Reporter ukee, police say this officer extremely lucky shot in the arm taken to the hospital hell be okay. The suspect also taken to the hospital Hahnemann University hospital, no word on his condition yet this morning. As they were checking on a man, inside the van for possible narcotics violations at wilton street at girard avenue, police say the suspect backed up, made a uturn and got away. Officer kostick then found the suspect near 52nd and master streets. Police say the gunfire errupted, in the mid many of a discussion. Kostick is still on his like. The male turns to him and says, and i quote, i dont want to have to do this but then he fires at officer kostick, striking him in his right arm so kostick returns fire striking the male. Eyewitness News Reporter justin finch joins us now at the scene in Crescent Ville with the latest details. Good morning. Police say what were seeing the end after escape, doing delivery 500 block target of ambush, involving a gun. They say he sped away up adams avenue, lost control near big ham street, crashed up this hill, and police found that man unconscious with a gunshot wound. About 10 30 thursday night report of a single car wreck off adams avenue. The scene, a violent one mangled toyota atop a hill crashed into a fence, and a light pole downed. The driver still inside. And gravely injured. On Police Arrival medics arrival, found 49 year old male victim inside of a 2,013 Toyota Corolla he was in the driver seat, unconscious. It is now believed the crash was the drivers attempt at get away from gunfire. Medics also noticed he was shot in his left shoulder. Police believe the driver, whom they are not naming was working as chinese take out delivery man may have been on duty and shot either before getting inside his car or as he was at the wheel. We believe he was making a delivery to one of the reports, because we found 12 spent shell casings in the 500 block every Hill Creek Park. We also found some broken window which we believe was the glass from the driver door window that the victim was in. Broken glass found at the Hill Creek Park scene and inside the vehicle. Driver taken to einstein, pronounced dead short time later. And looking live at that car, the scene still being held several hours later mr. Is continue their investigation, with homicide detectives, the driver here, 49 years old pronounced dead at einstein medical center, no word on his name or identity.
