For past several hours or so we thought that the Union Members and septa management had gone back to the bargaining table and had been actually talking for past several hours but that appears to have not been the case as we got this statement ago from Union Officials say quotas of 5 00 p. M. The Bargaining Team has not heard from septa management despite their claims to desire a quick settlement and need for around the clock bargaining. Just a short time ago Union Representative came out to tell us that shortly after putting this statement out septa did present them with a new proposal, one that was quickly rejected by the union. What do we want. A contract. Reporter several issues, stalled negotiations late tuesday night sending hundreds members of the transport local unions 234 to the picket line. At issue health care pension gaps and breaks between groups and shifts. Twu president willie brown spoke moments after declaring a strike. We could not come to an agreement on certain things, simple things, as far as, bathroom breaks, lunchtime for operators, you know, scheduling, operator fatigue things of that sort. She can truly say i know how you feel to the children that she now takes care of. Health reporter Stephanie Stahl is here to tell us more about amanda. Amanda is a special, special young lady, talk about a unique perspective, one time patient has just started working in the same hospital where she was treated for cancer. Hi. Amanda is a nurse with a special insight, and a long history with Saint Christophers Hospital for children. I have only ever wanted to work here. Reporter shes 22 and just got the job. Her journey started 14 years ago when she was diagnosed with leukemia. Without, the nurses that took care of me i wouldnt be here. Reporter many are still around and reminisce with a scrap book made by amandas mom. Back when my hair was falling out. Reporter she was seven, battling blood cancer and spent hours getting treatment at the hospital. I remembered one of the first nights that she was diagnosed i remember it. It is wonderful that she grew up to have wonderful after what she went through as a patient. Reporter now 11 years in remission, amanda is paying it forward. And, it is comfort, when a child comes with me i dont want them to be scared or were here to take care of them. She can bring something to this job that none of us can do because she has been through it. She has a personal story. Reporter cancer survivor who knows what it is like to be little, sick and scared. Now helping the next generation of patients. I know how to talk to them. I know what they are scared of. I was afraid of the same thing. Shes amazing having just started her nursing career amanda is working with a variety of different patients right now. She eventually hopes to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner, so she can work in oncology with young Cancer Patients. Oh, my god. How about that, paying it forward, giving it back.
