Tropical storm warnings remain for good reason along the coast and new jersey and delaware, tonight storm strengthens more and tracks more closer to the coast but still stays off shore. That increases our wind. We could still get them to 50 miles an hour tonight and through labor day, and, it takes its time to get out of here. It could trend even to hurricane for wind at 75 but most of that stays off shore. But sustain wind right now Atlantic City 11 miles an hour. So not that bad. Still coastal flooding and strong wind that is the biggest threat from the storm as well as beach erosion and strong rip currents for next several days. Wind along the new jersey and delaware beaches 15 to 20 miles an hour out of the north, tonight we did get close to 50 miles an hour gusts, same deal on monday, so very windy for your labor day. Im standing here, on the Atlantic City beach just a few hundred feet away from the Atlantic City poured walk and as you can see it is calm before the storm. Look at the beach. It is absolutely beautiful. There are some pretty high waves going on, on the beach, you can see, it is pretty powerful there with the surf, but if you pan over to your left here weve got people standing on the beach sort of taking advantage have of this very peaceful time early in the morning near sunrise and they are just sort of hanging outputting their feet in the water this guy has been here for quite sometime just hanging out. We had a lot of people walking along the boardwalk, walking along the beach, early this morning, just checking things out, the wind, i mean there is some wind, would i call it medium wind, it is not heavy, some folks i talk to who were here yesterday say it was much worse at that time. But take a look the beach is pretty much cleared. They have removed life guard, sand to make sure that there were no projectiles that could hurt anyone in the event of strong winds. There is also some sandbags near the sheds that hold the beach chairs and umbrellas, just to make sure that in case there is some flooding here along the beach and high tide goes higher then normal that those items are protect now but so far so good. It is normal here. Were enjoying this morning. People are riding their bikes along the boardwalk this morning. Folks are coming from the casino, they have all been opened. People are really enjoying this part of the morning and it doesnt seem to have caused any damper on Labor Day Weekend plans. But flooding is still a concern later today. As we heard, there could be some higher, stronger wind but at this point were not dealing with that. Reporter i think youre seeing what im seeing here which is a really beautiful sunrise. As this morning wears on, we are getting closer to that around 10 30 high tide area. That is where some of the concern for coastal and tidal flooding will kick in. But, especially so later this evening and then more so tomorrow morning. We are looking at some of this rough surf. These life guard have been dealing with this all week. We have some erosion here from that which is to be expected. We are under a state of emergency right now. What that does mean is that simply local officials will have the authority to make safety related changes to local ordinary answers, if they wanted to shut down the beach. I find that would probably be unlikely but what could happen that is life guard could simply say that the surf is just too rough, these rip currents are too strong and we will have to cut off the swimming on the beaches and put a swimming retricks in place. That could happen. It has not happened at this time. I think they will come out the here and gauge, we have seen some people, life guard, surveying right now, and now i was talking to a couple of people this morning who told me, that they have embraced idea of coming down giving all of the warnings because it means that there will be less people. We spoke to a woman who said that she arrived yesterday as a lot of people were leaving. It is a gorgeous sunrise, isnt it . Im looking forward to staying down and having a nice vacation.
