Now that today they will clean it up, they have converted it into an alter for todays mass at 4 00 p. M. Over my shoulder. Lets bring in our justin finch who has more on the preparation and how they convert that had so quickly, change it from the stage to the alter, good morning. Reporter good morning. The stage is now set and already people are filing into take their seats. Bear in mind, rather, mass begins at 4 00 this afternoon. It the is only just after 8 00. In less than 12 hours a much different stage from last nights festival of families. Lets take a look pope francis looking amused as he watched famous performers take the mike and he listened carefully to stories of families hailing from around the world, each speaking of how their familys faith, strength, brought them to personal challenges. Then we all heard that voice, the the flawless voice of philadelphia 14 yearold bobby hill of the cities andorra section. No surprise he is in the keystone state boys choir or that the pope seemed to like what he heard. The pope was also serenaded by the Queen Aretha Franklin whose rendition of the Amazing Grace had him clapping and smiling. Italian opera star Andre Bocelli and others wowed crowd of thousands too. Master of ceremonies anchor Mark Wahlberg for famous for his edgey rolls, wahlberg told the pope and audience he is a believer in family and faith, lets take a listen. I feel most bless today being on stage with the holy father and here with all my fellow christians. I truly feel like today i could do anything. I attribute all of my success to my catholic faith. Reporter and back to that stage, this morning, it will be focus yet again at 4 00 p. M. Pope francis also did speak last night at festival of the families. While most of his message was serious there was a brief moment of leavety that had people laughing at the audience. He was talk about families and how important they are and he mentioned the occasional argument. Families have have difficult advertise. Families quarrel. Children bring had headaches. Mother in laws, how about that. Holy father spoke about the beauty of families and noticed he can speak about this because he is not married. So a bit of leavety there to get the crowd going. Folks have have been camped out overnight on the ben franklin parkway hoping to catch a glimpse of pope francis. Late for day our alexandria hoff joins us on the parkway. Im hearing some cheers, alex, good morning. Reporter you know, good morning. I feel like performance has moved from that way and down this way from the parkway. People keeping themselves entertained and happy. This is second night in the row for many of these families, sleeping out the here on the parkway. This group is from texas. They are just so excited, bringing in more and more people. Keep in mind they have been sleeping, in sleeping bags in the cold weather, weather hasnt been the best around sunrise, it gets chilly and for those trying to stay asleep i have no idea how they will try to manage to do that. It is a very special joyous weekend for these folks. Today a little will bit more contemplation and more focused on worship with the 4 00 p. M. Mass, as justin mentioned that alter is all set. They have stage their spots. This is where they want to be. This is what they have come all the way for, the the day of worship, with the holy father, and many of them told me that sleeping outside on the ground, you know, it is tough but it is all part of the pilgrimage. So for many, it enhanced, had maybe not this fellow, i dont know how, but a a lot of people are expressing a lot of joy at this hour and a lot of people climbing out of their sleeping bags. Everyone has a reason to be out here, heres within priest who told me, everybody finding that reason and they are hoping to have it suited by the holy father when he comes down the the parkway later this afternoon. Reporting live, from the ben franklin parkway, alexandria hoff cbs3 Eyewitness News. Well worth it when you see pope francis drive by. Thanks very much. Now before last nights party on the parkway independent hall that was the place to be. Pope francis spoke in front of the crowd of thousands. Not saying away from hot button topics like globalization, racism and immigration. Eyewitness News Reporter Charlotte Huffman joins us from independent mall with more on that speech, good morning. Reporter good morning,er contact you can see behind me, where the pope spoke from yesterday has new been broken down, jumbo trons they remain. That is where mass will be broadcast from later this afternoon. A few people have been trickling in and out doing sound checks in preparation for this afternoon but otherwise it is pretty quiet. A very different picture then just 12 hours ago as the pope mobile traveled around independent hall where traditional pope francis style we saw him stop to kiss and bless children before finally arriving at historic independent hall. A place that became a symbol of our country hundreds of years ago when the declaration of independent, and the constitution were adopted. And yesterday, marked another chapter in the the history books for independent hall. Upon arriving the pontiff was present with a 5foot cross from the hispanic community. It was fit ago this pope francis then addressed the ticketed faithful in Spanish Speaking about immigration and religious freedom using the same lectern that Abraham Lincoln used for the the gettysburg address. Do not be discouraged by whatever challenges and hardships that you face. I ask you not to forget, like those who came here before you, you bring many gifts to this nation. It was amazing, it was something, word cannot explain how happy i feel. How my hearties filled. I got to sit right up front. It was so incredible to see him in person. Reporter i have my choir loft voice on, as the the seminarians are in place in the logia and they will greet pope francis, as he walks down that long hallway from the main part of the Saint Charles into Saint Martins chapel. Here at Saint Martins chapel im in the loft with the direct few of the alter, and the chair on which the chair pope francis will sit, deliver his message, that we believe it will be about the the church being attentive to the need of families ape those who are struggling with economic or social issues, those in developing countries. There are american 300 bishops, more than 30 cardinals here to hear him speak and were waiting for the pope to come down that long hallway. We have ray group of very eager seminarians waiting to shake his hand, some may have smart phones in toe, for that ultimate papal selfie. Iain bush another beautiful ceremony, one of many here in philadelphia. Thank you so much. Lets send back inside to the studio with nicole, nicole. We do appreciate it. Of course, we are looking ahead to this final day of pope francis, here in philadelphia. Yes. Hoping that the weather holds out, kyla. So far, so good. We are looking good today. But lets, not your mood. I dont think anything could mess up anyones mood today because that has been a beautiful event for the city. How much fun for me having moved here, not too long ago myself, it is pretty darn cool. Turf say. We have cool and breezy conditions. I think as we get into the frame frame that were talking about papal mass at 4c p. M. Now lets just keep in mind we will feel cooler then those numbers indicate because of the breeze. The a as we get into monday we could see rain. As we get into tuesday we will need an umbrella at 4 00 p. M. Tuesday afternoon. Currently a at 61 degrees in philadelphia we are warming up a touch. Fortynine in mount pocono. Fiftysix in lancaster. The as we head down the the shore about 69 degrees in wildwood. So they are already getting a little bit warmer. Lets take a look at these temperatures down the shore and talk about the fact that we have a breeze getting it going to day. We are in the mid to upper 60s and we are nine, ten, 11 miles an hour wind gusting, a little bit the higher in dover, about 15 miles an hour. That wind will actually help to pile water, up to the shore. That is why we are under a Coastal Flood Advisory that could see minor flooding so just a heads up for those living down the the shore. I know you have dealt with this before but yeah, today is when you want to look out for it. 1 00a in m on monday morning. So today we have a high of 75, breezy, cloudy, we could see sprinkles, noreasterly breeze will make you feel chilly to get the jacket on. Make sure you you are ready.
