Well, were going to go ahead and turn to the controversial comments from senator ted cruz. The republican president ial candidate taking a swipe at what he called new york values, which set off a Heated Exchange with donald trump during last nights debate. There are many many wonderful, wonderful working men and women in the state of new york. But everyone understands that the values in new york city are socially liberal. Everybody in the world loved new york and loved new yorkers and i have to tell you that was a very insulting statement that ted made. Well, mr. Trump spoke about the citys response following the 911 attacks. Today, though, several new york politicians spoke out against senator cruzs comments. On behalf of all new yorkers i am disgusted at the insult that ted cruz threw at this city and its people. And the bottom line is he does york values. I find myself for once in agreement with donald trump. I think it was right for donald trump to defend new york city and talk about the heroic actions of the people of this city after 9 11. New york governor yo moe is joining us now on the cuomo is joining us now on the phone to talk about the comments by senator cruz and the controversy. Its liz cho and o rob powers, how are you today. Pleasure to be with you. Were happy to have you. Were all very familiar with your comments you made earlier today calling senator cruzs comments unamerican. You had asked for an apology from senator cruz on behalf of new yorkers. Just wondering at huhuh 02 at 4 002 in the afternoon, have you received one. We have not received an apology, not only was it ugly, you know, controversial, it was worse than controversial. It was insulting. In 30 seconds, he insulted gays, he insulted women who tried to divide once again, new new yorkers from the rest of the nation. He tried to divide americans, and thats been going on for too long. And it has to stop. You cant pit us one against the other. And it was the height of hypocrisy. How about this, were counting now, but i believe in the past year he has received about 400,000 from people in this state, and he gets on tv at a debate and criticizes the money in new york. Let him give back the money he received from people in this state. Let him give back the 400,000 and we wont need an apology. Give back the money because it is really the height of arrogance and hypocrisy. Now, the flip side to that, have you come across any who are maybe reconsidering their contributions to cruzs campaign . I have not, but im sure they will. You know one thing people forget, we have conservatives in new york. We have about 30 of the people in this state will call themselves conservatives. And we have them in our new york state legislature. I work with them every day. We can have political differences. We can have cultural differences. But we dont bring you to the point of division. And thats what made this state different than washington. Governor, do you think that this is going to mark a turning point for the gop race . I think it should. I think people should really start to notice that these are not Just Campaign tactics. This is going to philosophy that is dangerous for this country. We are premised on the fact different places across the globe and forge one. Our motto is out of many one. Youre bringing people from different races, ethnicities forging one community. When you start to separate us, liz, when you start to say, oh, those people are gay, and those women are prochoice, now society. And if you fracture us, you take what is our open strength and make it a dangerous weakness and thats what they have been doing, and they have been doing it more and more, and cruz was the worst in the debate and he should be roundly condemned by the Republican Party and any party that believes they can govern this nation. Well, we spoke with lots of new yorkers on the street saying that new york values are american values. Governor, we really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us today. Thank you, liz, thank you rob. Thank you, sir. A former Suffolk County Police Sergeant convicted of stealing money from drivers. Six hispanic men say they were missing money.
