Police are on the hunt for a driver who hit and killed a teenager, that teen walking home from a funeral at the time. This happening at northern and junction boulevards. Reporter as you can imagine, that family is beyond grief stricken, and they want this driver found police are now looking for the driver of a black toyota camry they say hit that 17yearold right here in the crosswalk, and weve just learned that the teen ovidio heramlo lived down the block. I just talked to the grandson was walking home when he was hit just before 11 last night. She had just talked to him asking him when he was going to come home and to make sure he came home safely, and as always he said okay, okay grandma. Like every child, you know, he was a good kid. She raised him since he was little. Reporter were told that black toyota camry was traveling westbound here on northern boulevard, and after hitting that 17yearold just kept going. Its 4 33, and also new this morning, police in new jersey are also searching for a hit and run driver. A pedestrian was hit while walking on route 9 in mal pad. This happened just before midnight. The victim is recovering in the hospital. Route 9 was closed for a while time is 4 34. A twoyear investigation in queens has led to the arrest of a Police Lieutenant and detective on charges they took bribes from club owners to them about upcoming raids. The queens d. A. Said one of the men pocketed 2,000 bucks a month from the manager of two karaoke bars. In other cases the officers aledly got people released after they had been detained on drug charges. There are reports another nine officers could be involved. Happening today a former Suffolk County police chief is expected to turn himself in to face federal charges of assault and obstructing a civil rights investigation. 51yearold james burke will be charged in federal court with assaulting a man who allegedly stole a bag from his Department Vehicle in 2012. Burke allegedly beat the suspect in an interrogation room, then attempted to obstruct a civil rights investigation into the attack. 4 35. This morning were hearing from after a brawl inside his high school spilled into the streets. Steven simms is recovering after taking a bullet to the leg. He was buying lunch in a bodega when he streets. Simms walked outside and unwittingly right into the cross fire. At first i felt it, but i didnt realize i was hit until someone told me there was blood on my pants. It was awful. Actually it was awful for everybody, my sister came all the way, the hospital was filled with his family. The whole scene led to lockdowns at dickinson and another nearby school. Upper level which is moving fine left to right, you still have some construction underneath the apartments a couple of lanes are closed down. At this point traffic is dealing with it without major issues. As they start clearing it away, you may find some delays starting to build. If you have ez pass you can go to that lower level. You have to be a noncommercial vehicle to get to the lower vehicle. Construction at the lincoln and holland tunnels so you can expect a little bit of a delay there. 1st avenue closed down 59th to 65th streets. This is all because of the falling brick incident from monday, and as a result expect delays to and from the ed koch 59th street bridge. That closure is still in place. Subway service is running on or close to schedule. You also have new jersey transit, Long Island Railroad, metro north running on or close to schedule. No major problems there. As you travel on to the fdr drive southbound from the 100s down into the 90s, thats more construction but its not causing a major delay. Then up here on the Sawmill River parkway northbound, measure lieu parkway, the right lane is closed down. This is earlier Police Activity. They still have that right lane closed. The winds are calm and the pressures up there at 30. 15 which really means High Pressure, moderate to strong High Pressure is going to make for great weather. 34 around teterboro, 37 around newark. We should be at 34 degrees in the park and we should be at about 24 here north and west to about 20 well north and west. Everythings running way warmer than normal. Calm winds to light winds. That, at least until we get into next week. Just a few clouds across the tristate area this morning. Were looking at a front that will go by. Its a front and warm air to the south that will surge up and over us tonight. That could give us a sprinkle tonight. Our futurecast will show just that. Here comes that warm air. See the sprinkle coming up here missing us by tomorrow morning, and then were going to see a big area of sunshine and warm air surging up and over us right into the weekend. So as we go through the morning and into lunchtime and the afternoon hours were going to see temperatures jump into the noontime. The afternoon will be into the low 50s. It is going to be quite warm for this time of the year. Lets go to newburgh. Were going to get to 30 by the time we get to 5 a. M. These numbers warm up fast. Well get close to 50, 43 to 50 degrees by lunchtime today. Your next seven hours, grab a its a little cool this morning around 40. Then you see we warm up quickly in the afternoon. Your accuweather sevenday forecast, sun and clouds tomorrow, we start with clouds, and by afternoon we have 58, 60 on friday and saturday, and know, we cant rule out a shower overnight thursday. Alternate side of the street it is 4 46, and weve learned overnight that the state of georgia has executed Brian Terrell in spite of a series of last minute appeals for clemency, and the court actions. Terrell was put to death early this morning. Terrell was punished for the 1992 murder of an elderly friend of his mother. This morning were hearing from officers first on the scene in the San Bernardino massacre. They gathered to take turns telling their stories of what it was like to respond to the deadliest terror attack on u. S. Soil since 9 11. One of the worst things ever ive experienced in my entire career. It was terrible. I never thought it would happen here. I felt just emotionally just a ton of sorrow in the pit of my stomach as im going in there. Meanwhile sources tell cnn that gunman syed farook was planning an attack with somebody else back in 2012, and a specific target was considered but they decided not to follow through after a round occurred in that area. Happening today, the defense begins presenting its case in the trial of a Baltimore Police officer charged in the death of freddie gray. The prosecution rested its case yesterday against officer william porter. Hes expected to testify in his own defense. Porter faces charges including manslaughter and assault. Hes the first of six officers charged in connection with grays death to go to trial. Now to the outbreak of the norovirus in boston. Dozens, get this dozens of College Students have become ill after eating a a chipotle restaurant. 80 College Students in all sickened after eating at that restaurant in bostons cleveland circle. A city inspection report says an employee was sick while working his shift last thursday. The outbreak comes as chipotle tries to rebuild its image after an e.
