Were going to be 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year. Low 60s today, and it only gets warmer. Some record warmth. Its weather then heather every 7 minutes. It looks like new jersey transit, metro north, Long Island Railroad doing just fine. Subway service is on or close to schedule. We also have an accident on the northbound side near exit 98. That accident being cleared. Construction being cleared at the George Washington bridge. Inbound upper Level Construction clearing from underneath the apartments but boy do we have a delay getting across the span. Alternate side of the Street Parking rules in effect, and dont forget it is a gridlock alert day today. Shirleen over to you. Back to our breaking news out of the bronx, a huge fire destroyed a row of homes overnight. Two firefighters were also hurt. Rob nelson is in the bronx with the latest. Reporter this fire has been burning since 11 45 last night. Its still a very active scene. Firefighters dousing this fire with water from the air. We got here about an hour ago. There were still flames coming out of that building. The fire does appear to be under control. Take a look at this video from earlier. It shows you what a dramatic fire this has been for a few this blaze did shoot up to 6 of alarms and has torn through a block of homes along valentine avenue, up to 10 homes have been impacted. There have also been three minor injuries, two firefighters and one resident. Officials here on the scene are still trying to figure out how many families exactly have been displaced by this fire. There is an mta bus that has been requested here. The red cross is here as well. We did speak to one resident whose home did suffer damage and that person, that man has to figure out exactly what he will do next. It is uncertain, you know, what my situations going to be after this, you know, because you know, i had just came home from work, and then, you know, to have to go through Something Like this is devastating. Reporter certainly devastating here. Just about two weeks before christmas n is the last thing back here live, still a very active seen. Firefighters still battling this from the air from that ladder dousing the ten buildings with water. Again, for those of you in this area, some traffic notes to pass along. One buildings loose bricks have caused quite the Ripple Effect of problems for residents and businesses on the Upper East Side. Thats right, unfortunately those problems probably will stretch through the weekend. 1st avenue shut down between 62nd street and 64th street. Again, that is expected to be take a look at this video. The closure will stay in place as crews work to secure the brick facade of a 30story building. This morning dozens of people cant go home. Last night the Buildings Department ordered evacuations at a fivestory building on east 63rd street. That building is right across the street from the building where bricks came crashing down on monday night. Now inspectors are worried another section of that buildings facade could potentially collapse. That could damage the buildings across the street. We had two and a half hours to evacuate our building. Its been crazy. Hope that they fix this as soon as possible. Reporter the traffic problems will continue this weekend. The closure has led to traffic jams and problems for ambulance drivers to get to nearby hospitals. Become out here live workers lot of work left to be done. This closure could potentially monday. Live on the Upper East Side mallory hoff channel 7 Eyewitness News. Thank you. We learned overnight that Police Arrested a homeless man for a hate crime attack in brooklyn. Police used this Surveillance Video to track down angel velazquez. The 39yearold is accused of attacking a man last week in williamsburg. Investigators say he punched a man in the head while yelling antiwhite statements. Our time is 4 36. A murky pond a few miles from the San Bernardino massacre is part of an intense search. The couple may have gone to that pond after the shootings last week that left 14 people dead. Investigators will not say what potential evidence theyre looking for. Refugees have arrived in canada. This is video of a military flight landing in toronto late last night. The group was greeted by Prime Minister justin trudeau. Canadas government has agreed to accept 25,000 syrians by the end of february. Hundreds gathered in manhattan to show refugees from the mideast that they are welcome in new york city. This was the scene at Columbus Circle last night. A huge show of support for refugees from syria and iraq. The demonstrators say they reject the wave of antimuslim sentiment that has swept much of the nation. They are calling on the u. S. Government to accept more refugees. Happening today mayor bill de blasio will be checking into a hospital. The Mayors Office says de blasios scheduled to have hernia surgery. The outpatient procedure will sideline him from official business until sunday. The Mayors Office says de blasio developed the hernia recently. Also on the agenda, an nypd line of duty will be honored in queens. A street will be renamed at Queens Village in memory of detective brian lure. The intersection of 292nd street and 92nd road will be named detective first grade brian moore way. The 25yearold was shot and killed while on duty in may. 4 38. As bill has been telling us we are expecting record High Temperatures on sunday. The mercury is going to rise to a record that stood for 140 years. Thats good if you hate wearing cold winter clothes. Street vendors have been stuck with lots of gloves and hats. Hardware stores have a full stock of cold weather products. We have snow melt and shovels and ice choppers and weather seal, all those things are dependent on the cold weather, and at just the hint of a snowstorm we start getting purchases. Theres a lot of winter ahead yet you know. To show what a difference a year makes last year on december 11th the High Temperature was 38 degrees and we had already seen some snow. Coast parkway. Traffic moving left to right, thats the upper level of the George Washington bridge. You can see we are bumper bumper. George Washington Bridge inbound upper Level Construction clearing from underneath the apartments, lincoln and holland you have some construction left over. That should be cleared by 5 a. M. Garden state parkway northbound exit 98, that is another accident. Thats been there for a while. Its off on the shoulder not causing too much of a delay. Long Island Railroad doing okay. Subway service on or close to schedule and the covered roadway between jersey avenue and tonnele avenue we have that construction. That could affect you to and from the holland tunnel. It is a gridlock alert today. You want to utilize mass transit and we have our street cleaning rules in effect for today. A break in the case of a string of home robberies in central park. Who police have in custody this morning. And a woman took her eyes off the road and her car took an unexpected turn, how her car sign of winter out in minnesota temperatures are in the 40s, no trace of snow, and that is bad news for the annual snow cross park. We look from our camera in new jersey across the George Washington bridge and out toward the east. Were looking at skies that are partly cloudy, 53 degrees and humiditys moderate. The wind is south. Warm air across us. When you have the jet stream that retreats into canada gets very warm were going to be steady. Record warmth likely sunday. Rain returns on monday with temperatures still in the 60s. Its 53 in the park, 52 49jfk. 43, 45 down the shore. Winds are calm in some spots. I want to show you the wind profiles because its warm air surging up to the south that just keeps making it warmer and warmer. 3 10 of a mile visibility at white plains and out across eastern long island 3 10. We have that southerly wind coming up over the cool water, which is about 49 to 50 degrees. This fog, 3 10 of a mile visibility down the garden state parkway. There could be some issues with that this morning. We are looking at a few clouds. That will burn off and clear skies back here to the great lakes and chicago but well be looking at High Pressure building in. Our christmas week pattern is persistent warmth where we kind of cool down with some cool shots and then we warm back up, cool down, warm back up. Thats how the patterns going to evolve for your christmas. Were looking at after school of 60 to 62 degrees, very mild, great weather after school kiddos. Saturday 62, 66 on sunday. Well break the record high sunday definitely. Well get close enough on saturday. Morning fog and then clouds and sunshine, 62. Tonight partly cloudy and mild, low 49. It cools us down back into the 50s next week. Mind you normal High Temperature this time of the year, the average in the afternoon is 44 degrees. Even next week we cool back down to the 50s. Its still going to be above normal temperatures. Were only a couple of weeks from christmas and were talking about cooling to the 50s. This is like miami. I like miami. It really is. I mean yeah, i dont mind it minus the humidity. Thats a nice break for a season. It is. Weve got a long way to go. Wait until january 15th. Well be saying remember december. The winter hasnt even officially started on the calendar yet. If youve officially started your commute and you plan on going to get a subway, we have no major problems to report. Subway service is running on or close to schedule, new jersey transit, metro north, Long Island Railroad doing fine. Path trains are okay. Ferries are doing just fine. Parkway north at exit 98. As bill was saying theres a lot of fog down there. I was checking out some cameras along the garden state parkway. Were looking at the covered roadway and from the holland tunnel closed both ways between jersey avenue and tonnele avenue because of construction. Four teenagers are in custody accused of punching a man in central park and robbing him at gunpoint. Police believe the teens are also behind two armed robberies in the park on monday night. The youngest of the suspects is just 14 years old. There have been four robberies in the park this week. Police do not believe an armed is linked to the other three. Two men held up a man stealing cash, his cell phone and shoes. The search is on for an armed and dangerous sexual predator in new jersey. Police in hackensack have released this sketch ottoman they are of the man they are looking for. The suspect held a gun to the victim and sexually assaulted her. The family of a woman who was locked in a burger king bathroom when she suffered a deadly seizure is suing the fast food chain. Shirr lie mccarthy was laying on the floor of the bathroom in Jackson Heights pleading for help for at least 10 minutes in september but family claims the restaurant staff initially did nothing, then couldnt find the key. Firefighters broke the door down. Mccarthy was later declared brain dead. If i would have got to the opened the door, she would have been standing here today. I couldnt open the door. Burger king spokesman expressed condolences to the family but refused to comment on the lawsuit. The former Oklahoma Police officer accused of sexually abusing more than a dozen women while on the job has been found guilty. Daniel holtsclaw turned 29 yesterday, the jury convicted him on 18 counts of rape and assault. He sobbed as the verdict was red. Outsided courtroom families of his victims and Community Leaders cheered and prayed. We can move forward. Temperatures 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of the year. Over the next seven hours. We get to about 51 at 9 00 and 56 later on today. We will be seeing temperatures that just are so warm, 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of the year. Babylon youre at 58 by 11 00 this morning. Weather then heather every 7 minutes. Got some fog out there. Were going to take a look first at some construction on the fdr drive. Thats the southbound side. The right lane is closed down. Now we also have this fog as we look at this next webcam. Look at this. This is the Northern State parkway right near the meadow brook. Then we just have a more foggy situation here on the l. I.
