Like you said, a chilly start to the day, grab the jackets and sweaters and coats all all that kind of stuff. 38 is right at our normal overnight low and hanover is the same, 21 teaneck, 26 poughkeepsie, 35 bridgeport, 36 on long island. Noontime right at 50 and this afternoon were going to get into the mid to upper 50s in a lot of spots with sunshine. But march is going out tomorrow. But like a pussycat. Good morning, everybody. 1 trains with fast track repairs, no service between 96th street and dikeman street until 5 00 a. M. New Jersey Transit, rail rail, metro north doing just fine. Take ago look at the new jersey turnpike, the eastern spur north of exit 14 up into exit 17, you have it all closed down. So all that traffic is being diverted over to the western spur as a result. And, of course, that is because of construction. Now, if youre going into northbergen, tunalee avenue between 69th street and 54th street, you have that accident. All lanes closed down. Construction across the board, george, lincoln, holland, they do have minor delays. The outbound lower level two lanes closed underneath the apartments, that should be cleared by 5 00 a. M. The blaze started orch the roof of on the roof of a building on catawba avenue and then is spread. The fdny tweeted crews tweeted this picture of crews getting the building under control. I want to show you the scene right now. This fire completely ate through these five billings. Its just total destruction. You can see theres really not much left here. I also want you to take a look at the fire at its height when it went to six alarms last night. It was a real inferno. Look at this video. It started around 10 00 last night on dekalb avenue in bushwick, and it took about 200 firefighters to knock it down, five buildings have been destroyed, one church as well as a martial arts studio. Unclear how many people have been impacted, but many of them this morning are homeless, being transported to shelters in buses by the red cross. We lost everything, and were going to a shelter or to a hotel for now and then see what happens tomorrow. Right now we just have to roll with the punches i guess. We have nothing, so we have our family and thats it. Reporter again, this is a live look at those five buildings that burned out last night here in bushwick. The fdny still on scene checking for hot spots. The fire commissioner spoke last night. He said the fire cause is still under investigation. In new jersey detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found on the we have learned 73yearold virginia wilsons body was discovered saturday by a worker on amity street in jersey city. Police say the woman victim had suffered multiple injuries. Well, new details now in a disturbing case of abuse and what investigators are calling a house of horrors for foster children on long island. Caesar gonzalez is charged with sexually abusing seven foster boys. Investigators say there could be many more victims. Suspect fostered some 140 boys in his home over a period of 20 years. Social worker Debbie Edwards tells Eyewitness News that she alerted authorities four years, but no one listened. But you didnt know they were being sexually abused . I had a feeling. I never felt professionally well, because edwards had confronted gonzalez marjou, she says he threatened to sue. He also complained to her bosses at the longwood district. The end result, edwards says she was prohibited from ever speaking again to the foster boys staying with gonzalez markabou. We are hearing from a livery cab driver beaten and robbed by three passengers in manhattan. Abdelah wagah says he picked up three passengers in the bronx. When they arrived at their destination in east harlem, two women and a man attack him. He punched my face. My nose was bleeding and [ inaudible ] punch me too. Every time i go home, i feel scared. Well, the suspects stole 200 as well. The new York State Federation of taxi drivers is offering a 500 reward for their capture. 4 36. And happening today the new discuss regulating activities in Public Places including new rules for costume characters. Transportation committee will hear testimony on a bill to define areas for commercial activities in the citys 49 pedestrian plazas, including times square. Businesses and unions will rally on the steps of city hall before this mornings hearing. No action will be taken on the bill today. Turning now to politics, the battle for new york is heating up. Democratic president ial frontrunner Hillary Clinton is holding a morning rally in harlem and rival Bernie Sanders will be campaigning in the bronx tomorrow. Primary day is just three weeks away and the candidates are taking new york state very seriously with 291 democratic deg gats up for grabs. Hillary clinton has two events here over the next couple of days, the first coming later this morning at the Apollo Theater where she is hoping to york and win the nomination before the convention. Clinton to discuss her plans today to raise incomes for all communities, keep the country safe and bring it together after what she calls a very tense election season. Meanwhile, opponent Bernie Sanders will hold a rally in the south bronx tomorrow where he is expected to talk about getting big money out of politics, free tuition at public colleges and universities, Climate Change and universal healthcare. While sanders trails clinton, the race has tightened over the last couple of days. Clintons event will start here at the apollo at 11 30 this morning. And speaking at a wisconsin town hall for the republicans, all three president ial contenders backed away from their pledge to support the eventual nominee. Party officials got candidates to sign the pledge last clearly fed up with each other. Im not in the habit of supporting someone who attacks my wife and attacks my family. No, i dont anyway. You dont . No. Well see who it is. You wont promise to support the republican nominee . And he was essentially saying the same thing. I gotta see what happens. If the nominee is somebody who i think is really hurting the country and dwieldinging the country, i cant stand stand behind them. Trump says the wisconsin showdown could be his best chance to push cruz out of the race. Donald trump, in the meantime, stands by his Campaign Manager now charged battery of a reporter. Police say Cory Lewandowski grabbed Michelle Fields by the arm and yanked her backwards. And the motive may have been marital tensions rather than terrorism, but the hijacking of an egyptian passenger flight is still raising serious security concerns. The hijacker claimed to be wearing a suicide vest which later proved to be false. But before he was taken into custody on the tarmac by accused hijacker had gotten the plane diverted from egypt to cyprus. The home of his exwife regardless of whether or not this is a real device, there have to be real concerns raised at this point about security there. Well, police say the accused hijacker is unstable and a court in cyprus has ordered him held for eight days while prosecutors build their case against him. In mississippi, a 20year old has pleaded guilty to federal charges of aiding terrorist, jalen young admits she tried to join isis and conspired with her boyfriend to provide support for isis. Federal agents arrested the couple last summer and he pleaded guilty earlier this month. The two face up to 20 years in prison when theyre sentenced. And the wind is going to go south today, so that will start to warm us up for tomorrow. Look at the barometer, 30. 31 even though it says f for falling. Its way up above normal which is 30. 00. So that means we have a nice fair day. Yesterdays high was 53. Normal is 55 now. Temperatures, of course, the averages are warming up. But were looking at, you know, temperatures today well above normal. Well, a couple of degrees above normal anyway. Well above normal tomorrow. Sun up at 6 42. Should be pretty. As the temperatures warm up, were going to warm up as we get toward the end of the week and kicking off april with some showers, maybe some snow, wet snow overnight friday into saturday. Tomorrow its sunny, its warmer with some late clouds. Were at 69 degrees. So were looking at warmer weather for the last day of march. Rainy, breezy, warm weather for but were also looking at some very interesting weather as we go into monday for the yankees home opener. That day we could possibly see what will be some colder air. Look at that, 45 degrees on monday. Its going to be quite cold, and were going to be looking at some chilly numbers as we go into next week. Temperatures in the 40s for highs. Over to you heather, thanks. Police in philadelphia have caught four young boy hoss were caught on camera last week in a pro fannityfilled confrontation on a train. [ bleep ] well, the outbrurs was so foul that we cant outbours was so foul we cant let you hear it and the children were so young we cant show their faces. Police say the four boys are just 6 to 7 years old. One passenger who was attacked shotted video of them cursing, hitting and at least pointing and even spitting at a passenger and slapping a woman. Isnt is this isnt a case where at 6 00 in the morning, were going to be breaking down the door and the goal is to get them help. Now that the police have identified the boys, they have reached out to offer help, but up to this point they have not gotten any response. 4 50 right now. A mother in new jersey says a local Fast Food Restaurant served her family tainted chicken. Her children already started chowing down when they noticed what appeared to be news print on the chicken. My boys came and said, mom, did you eat that chicken on the table . A robber grabs 20yearold rob phelps from behind early sunday morning, and then the crook tells the clerk to hand over the stores money, all while waving the knife in phelps face. He said at that moment he decided to fight back. I wrestled him and i threw him against the shelves and i just kept i kept a stiff arm just to make sure that none of none of that knife was coming near me.
