Federal prison in november of 2014. He is serving a 44month sentence for corruption. Cannon appeared in court wearing a suit different than the mug shot posted online. He smiled as he shook hands with his lawyer. He admitted to voting in 2014 as a felon. He was convicted of corruption then. His lawyer says cannon never tried to hide his identity he went to vote with his wife because he did not think it was illegal at that time. We spoke with a local attorney not connected with this case to get his take how things went cannon pled guilty to i aclass one misdemeanor and gave him one day in jail to run with his sentence. Everything went as called by the da and the defense lawyers and he is on his way back to West Virginia. We did speak with cannons attorney and he told us he back to West Virginia in the next day or two and he seemed healthy. Cannon apologized to the court and the judge. More at 5 00. This morning, a bus driver for kids from Alexander Graham middle school reported not feeling well. All students were checked out for Carbon Monoxide exposure and parents contacted. First at 4 00 a Canadian Court unveiled video of a dramatic prison escape in 2013. The clip shows two inmates at a Detention Center in odell beckham, jr. Dangling by a rope from a helicopter. Two apolices hijacked the helicopter and forced the pilot to fly to the jail and they clung to the rope. And the chopper took off. They were captured, though, just a few hours later. Fast thinking from a police chief saves a young mans life from a fire. Started as Alarm Company call. The chief went to check it out and saw smoke coming from the home and neighbors were banging on the door. The chief decided to check it out. He went inside fighting the smoke. We were able to wake up a young man asleep in the residence and let the dog outside to safety. Everybody was out of the house. The chief downplaying the hero angle. He was just doing what other officers would and should do in a crisis. The time is 4 17 and we will check in on the roads with our tonya rivens. Hey, things are busy as we head to east charlotte. Independence boulevard by eastway and wendover and pierson drive notice that volume on the eastbound side and quite a few incidents around the area. Monroe road an accident here at wendover and another accident on monroe road by mcalpine station drive there is an accident at providence by wendover and then another right by albemarle road and we are starting to see a lot of congestionth this area. We have been following the breaking news out of charlotte a shooting that injured one person. Cmpd holding a News Conference and we want to drop in and see what the latest developments are. Happened in the parking lot where there was known acquaintances were together and altercation started and ended in violence and gunshots fired. And the victim was struck and he has been transported to the hospital. We are considering him to be in lifethreatening situation but he is in good hands where he is. With the Quick Response we were able to get a person that we are questioning and recovered a weapon as well. We feel like we have a headstart [inaudible] right now we have one victim at the hospital. We have not identified any other victims that have been shot. Where did you find the weapon . That is part of the investigation but it was away from the scene. Captain, talk about the question Transit Center busy afternoon, talk about the scene when you pulled up, what was it like . These things are a tragedy. And obviously uptown there is a lot more pedestrian traffic and a Quick Response by the officers helped to ensure the safety of the people around of getting this situation under control. The person you have in custody or under arrest . Neither we are questioning someone now. Speaking to someone about the incident. [inaudible] the person did leave the scene and officers were able to identify that person and get them into custody right away. Did he try and ditch the gun . We are just in the early stages of trying to figure it out. The main thing because we know there were a lot of people around we want to reach out and if you saw what happened and know anything about any of the players get in contact with us through crimestoppers and it will help us close the case. A 2 million bond package a winner in North Carolinas primary. The money will go to universities, Community Colleges, the National Guard and other projects. Well, brigida, i want to show you where the money will be spent it will be spent for what you see. I am live at the Fire Training academy at Rowan CabarrusCommunity College one place that firefighters can get this training. The school gets 7 million. It will be split between the campus here and the south campus in concorde. Much of the money will be used for repairs on buildings and 1 a new five storey training tower and police tackty cal center and it will provide improved training for the people we rely on in times of crisis and that is what you see. This is live training that is going on this building and all the equipment that you see they are using for training was paid for in a 2010 bond. So it will go towards the new facility.
