It is a good deal warmer than yesterday morning. Much of the area yesterday was in the 60s at this time. 78 degrees right now at 4 01. A bit of a breeze but thats not a cool one. Like yesterday thats humidity thats pushing into the area. 77 degrees right now in philadelphia. 79 degrees in northeast philadelphia. And 70s extended this morning. Warm start in northeast philadelphia. 79 degrees. Feelslike temperatures will take off today. 90 degrees is what it will feel like by 9 00 this morning. As we go into this afternoon, that number could feel like its closer to 100 degrees. Actual temperature, 74 at 6 00. 9 00, low 80s. And near 90 degrees at noontime and climbing. On east and westbound side they are closing off traffic so they have all cars exit at broad street here westbound side. They have signs posted around the area so if you follow those detours, youll be fine if you have to get to the schuylkill expressway. No problems from blue route to vine street expressway. It may feel like a hundred almost outside. You notice that for some its a taste of summer but for other, its a challenge to their health and comfort. Katy zachry is live for us in center city. If you need to do any yard work if youre working outside, try to do all that stuff early on because as bill said its going to get so hot it will feel like its a hundred degrees outside. People at a Chinese Restaurant sprang into action when a gunshot victim stumbled into the store. It happened around 12 30 in north philadelphia. Investigators say someone shot a man in the back. He managed to run to the restaurant and collapsed. People inside flagged down a passing ambulance. The victim is in critical condition. This morning in Delaware County the red cross is helping dozens of people forced out of their apartments by a fire. Look at this photo posted to instagram last night. Firefighters put out flames pouring out of windows and balconies at the apartments. Were still working out to find the persons condition rushed to the hospital. No reports of any other serious injuries. That Apartment Building has stood for more than 80 years. Its not clear how the fire started. We talked to the red cross to set up a shelter for those displaced. This is a life changing experience for many people. We really want to make sure they know the red cross is there for them. We want to make sure they know theyre not in this alone and that well help them through this every step of the way. Also the red paws relief team went in to search for pets. One team member carried an animal in a cage there. They found more than a dozen pets. Some were hurt. Several others are missing. New from overnight, a second man arrested in an alleged boston terror plot is expected to appear in court later this morning. Authorities took that suspect into custody in rhode island last night. They said that this arrest is connected to rahim of boston. They shot and killed him last week. They tried to question him about a plot to Kill Police Officers and fbi document shows rahim, his nephew and suspect arrested last night met in rhode island to discuss plans. That nephew was arrested last week. In new york the search for those two escaped Prison Inmates is forcing a School District to shutdown for a second straight day. The school is in an area where dogs may have picked up the inmates scent yesterday. They believe a prison employee was in on the plot according to sources close to the case. They say Joyce Mitchell agreed to be the getaway driver but got cold feet and backed out. New information now, seven months after a Burlington County womans death her son is charged with killing her. Authorities indicted gacutan on charges of aggravated manslaughter saying he threw his mother to the ground. She died in november. Happening today, a judge will arraign a teacher in bucks county accused of kissing a student with the intention of doing more. The teacher is now on leave. Authorities say he and a 17yearold girl kissed and talked about sex. Theres his photo. They say he booked a hotel but detectives stepped in before anything happened. A Camden County fire chief is suspended indefinitely accused of using Fire Department computers to share more than 1,000 files of child porn. Authorities arrested the chief wednesday night. Investigators say he stored and distributed child porn from inside the firestation. A Homeland Security agent broke this case. Officials seized five computers, two hard drives a tablet thumb drives and cell phones. None of us knew. We were all blind sided by this. Now hes being held on 150,000 bail. Hes not commented on the allegation. Only on 10 this morning, the parents of a High School Student athlete badly injured by a hitandrun driver are talking about their son now and the man charged with hurting him. Kyle plays football in salem county. A car ran over him early sunday while he was skateboarding and the car fled the scene. The accused driver of that car turned himself in on monday charged with assault by auto and other offenses. Kyles parents spoke exclusively to nbc 10 updating us on kyles condition. Hes critical. He hasnt woken up yet. Kyle is in a medically induced coma. We asked his parents for their thoughts on the man that ran over him and fled the scene. I dont have a comment on that one. Theres an open investigation and the Police Department is doing a fine job. Could see popup showers and thunderstorms like yesterday that is most likely in the pennsylvania suburbs. Most of the rest of the area will be shower free. 70 degrees right now in doylestown. And wilmington 93 degrees. Over the weekend, theres still potential for a heat wave. Tomorrow we could hit 90 degrees. It wont happen on sunday. In fact the humidity comes way down on sunday after storms roll through on saturday. Well start to feel that more pleasant air on sunday. Its when someone makes a 911 call saying there is an emergency and person with a gun inside a home when in fact the person who lives at the home has no emergency whatsoever and s. W. A. T. Teams show up at their door. Lawmakers say that swatting is done for revenge or as a prank. The bill calls for fines up to 150,000 and a tenyear prison term or both. New jersey lawmakers approved a bill to help atlantic citys finances schools and casinos. Five bills approved last night, the most important letting the eight casinos make payments on taxes for the next 15 years. Other legislation includes creating new state Education Aid just for atlantic city. The bills will head to the senate later this month. Time to talk decision 2016. Hillary clinton will relaunch her president ial run with whats being billed as a major speech in new york tomorrow. The former secretary of state is the front runner for the democratic nomination. Her Campaign Aides say that clinton plans to lay out her vision for the country and call for those to be rewarded for their sacrifice. Clinton is running up against three other democratic president ial contenders for that nomination and on the republican side of the race jeb bush is gearing up for a formal announcement monday. The former governor of florida is expected to enter the race officially for the white house. Hes wrapping up a trip to europe. He was in poland yesterday. So far hes got a lot of competition. Ten republicans have declared that they are seeking the gop nomination. The university of virginia student whose bloody arrest gained National Attention will appear in a Charlottesville Court this morning after charges against him were dropped. Johnson was arrested outside a bar in march charged with public intoxication swearing and obstruction of Justice Without force. Pictures and videos posted on social media showed johnson pinned to the ground his face covered in blood. Independent investigation was launched after it was alleged that johnson was beaten by police. In cleveland, a judge says there is probable cause to charge two Police Officers in the death of 12yearold rice. Its up to the citys prosecutor whether or not to charge those officers. He was shot to death by Police Outside a Recreation Center last november. The officers told investigators they thought he was reaching for a weapon but turned out the boy had a toy pellet gun. An update on that german pilot who deliberately crashed that passenger jet into the alps. Doctors who treated the man say he was unfit to fly, but they didnt tell his employer that because of patient privacy laws. A french Prosecutor Says that he saw seven doctors just one month before the crash. Prosecutor said lubitz doubled his dose of antidepressant and claimed he lost twothirds of his eyesight. Some doctors thought he was too unstable to fly but in germany doctors can be sent to prison if they disclose information about a patient. Authorities say in march lubitz locked the cockpit door and intentionally crashed that jet. All 150 people onboard died. And those include people with connections to this area. Mother and daughter both went to school in pennsylvania. From our Jersey Shore Bureau here two suspected serial pickpocketers were caught on surveillance video. This video shows a woman striking up a conversation with another shopper. All the while a man is sneaking up there looking for a way to swipe her wallet and purse. There he comes in for the pick. Authorities believe the duo is responsible for at least three similar thefts over the past couple weeks. Police say it appears they are targeting elderly women. When they walk in the store you can tell theyre searching and trying to prey upon someone. Investigators tell us credit cards belonging to victims were used to ring up thousands of dollars in purchases at other stores. 4 20. In the 70s right now. Were much warmer than that this morning. It will stay warmer all day long. Like yesterday, well be watching mainly areas north and west for a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thats where some of them popped up yesterday. The hour by hour forecast likely early this afternoon that well start to see activity. This is noontime. You can see portions of northern new jersey seeing a few scattered light showers and theres a line of showers that develops northern Chester County could see a heavy downpour at 2 00. These are going to be isolated. Most of the area is not going to see the showers and not going to get relief that might come with some cooling rain during the day today. Now, its just the opposite. Heat index could reach into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees this afternoon. So a steamy one all around. Hazy hot and humid. Lots of sunshine. Like yesterday filtered sunshine at times into the 90s this afternoon. 90s inland. At the shore things tend to be cooler. Today it will be in the 80s with just a chance of a lateday shower. You can see the work zone under this overpass on the southbound side so they are losing righthand shoulder and part of the righthand lane and two lanes getting by opposed to normal three. Not affecting drive times and no backup behind that scene. About a 13minute trip. Elsewhere in new jersey on 42 freeway you can see cars and lanes moving just fine. A fourminute trip headed up toward walt whitman bridge and speaking of bridges, this is happening sunday. Dont worry about it now. Ben franklin bridge closed at 6 00 a. M. Until 7 00 a. M. After months of protests some local workers are getting what they asked for. A big raise coming to some airport employees. Well tell you about it. Plus, eyes on the sky. One local towns push to make streets safer and businesses chose to pay for it. If you pay full cost in pennsylvania for c. H. I. P. Families will not face tax penalties it year. Changes to benefits now meet federal coverage rules. Also the thousands of families with c. H. I. P. Coverage will see no increase in premiums this year. A new lease between Philadelphia International airport and nearly two dozen airlines. This council vote included raises to 12 an hour for baggage handlers and other workers. Union workers went on strike twice recently fighting for wage increases. The raise goes into effect july 1st. More surveillance cameras on the streets of allentown. Businesses are donating money for cameras. The cameras have been fantastic and have been an addition to our resources to identify and arrest individuals when crimes have occurred.
