Our radar shot shows that were seeing a few scattered showers moving into our region. Theres our unsettled weather that will move in from the west. That will give us a better chance of storms. We have a better chance near the poconos and allentown. Overnight is when well start to see more widespread storms moving into philadelphia and parts of south jersey. We do have changes coming. Our average for this time of year, in the high 70s, and today, in the high 80s. But by monday we return back closer to average. Ill go over all the details on what you can expect for your workweek, coming up. He was a lawyer a member of the Delaware National guard, and a family man. This morning, beau biden is dead at the age of 46 after battling brain cancer. The son of Vice President joe biden spent much of his adult live serving his country. From 2007 to 2015 he was delawares 44th attorney general. He served as a major in the Delaware Army national guard, serving in iraq in 2008. He was awarded the bronze star. Biden announced last year he would not be seeking a third term as attorney general and instead planned to run for governor in 2016. Rosemary, its either shock or deep sadness at hearing this news. The governor has ordered all state flags lowered to halfstaff in tribute. As a matter of fact, i talked to governor jack markell just a short time ago minutes ago, and you could hear this weight of his loss in his voice. Beau biden first had trouble in 2010 with a mild stroke, he was diagnosed with a lesion on his brain and had surgery in 2013. Back then the biden family said beau was a fighter who had overcome the challenge of the cancer diagnosis in august of that year. He seemed to do that getting a clean bill of Health Months later after undergoing treatment. But a recurrence of the disease earlier this month and admittance to walter reed medical center. Beau biden succumbed to his illness late last night. This is every parents nightmare, to bury a son. Hes got young kids a wonderful wife. I mean his siblings hunter and ashley, and his extended family. This is as connected a family as any that ive ever known. Their dedication and commitment to each other is a model for the rest of us. And i just could not imagine the heartache for all of them. And a lot of people here in delaware are expressing sympathy for the biden family. Vice President Joe Biden was the first to release the statement announcing the tragic news last night. He said the entire biden family is saddened beyond words. Nbc 10 was on north eighth street, where somebody shot a man in the chest and arm around 2 00 this morning. The victim is in Critical Condition. Police say surveillance videos helped lead detectives to those two people of interest. Also in north philly two men were shot while walking down a street. The shots were fired just after 12 30 this morning. One man was treated and released from the hospital. The other is in Critical Condition. Authorities say they are searching for two gunmen based on evidence from the scene. Now to an update on a story we first brought to you yesterday morning. A 13yearold girl remains in Critical Condition after getting caught in the cross fire during a shooting in philadelphia. Police are still looking for two men who opened fire in her neighborhood in kensington. It happened friday night as the girl sat on the front steps of her row home. The men fired at each other, moving up atlantic avenue. The victim was struck by one of the stray bullets. Yesterday, philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter condemned the violence. Theres no reason for folks to be shooting at each other up and down the street and when a young lady gets hit, an innocent bystander. The victims stepmother tells us her daughter is an honor student who never gets into trouble. Today, neighbors and clergy in a philadelphia neighborhood will hold a vigil against gun violence in honor of the man who was killed while walking his dog. The vigil is in memory of james stuhlman, who was murdered in march. Stuhlman was shot dead while walking his dog in the overbrook section of the city. Police say three teens who have been charged in the case wanted to rob him. Days after stuhlmans death, neighbors reached out to the victims family and planted a Community Tree in his honor. This afternoon, they will gather at the murder scene on woodcrest avenue. Now to some news from our south jersey bureau. Police there tell us that a fight outside of the Susquehanna Bank center ended with a man getting stabbed in the hand. It happened last night in a parking lot on harbor boulevard in camden while a concert was happening inside the venue. Its unclear if chose involved in the stabbing were attending the show. This morning, we now know the identity of the new jersey state trooper who was killed when his cruiser struck a deer ran off the road and then hit a tree. Trooper Anthony Raspa was patrolling with another officer when they crashed friday night on i195 in Upper Freehold township monmouth county. Raspa was just 24 years old. Flags are now at halfstaff at the troopers barracks in hammington township mercer county. Fellow officers comforted raspas family at their house in Middlesex County yesterday. Loved ones say the trooper was full of passion and pride. Meanwhile, another trooper, gene hong, was hurt in the crash. Hes recovering today. He was treated at a hospital for a neck injury. A berks county home is a total loss after it caught on fire yesterday. Crews responded to this house on harwood lane in lower heidelberg township yesterday afternoon. Nobody was at home at the time. Investigators are now looking for the cause of the fire. Tomorrow contractors will be looking at the roof and the air ducts of a firehouse in Atlantic City to try to figure out whats going on with some mold thats making fire crews sick. The problem is with fire station number up with at maryland and atlantic avenues in ac. Darkcolored mold is forming on the ceilings and near the air ducts. The Firefighters Union tells us crews are experiencing shortness of breath migraines, and dry eyes. Fire officials closed off the living quarters. They sent staffers to a large tent set up next to their fire engine. Thats what theyre working out of. The union has called the situation urgent. A Montgomery County father who took his kids out of school so they could watch him run the Boston Marathon has been cleared of cheating. Marathon Officials Say Michael Rossi will not be disqualified from the 2014 Lehigh Valley marathon. Runners had accused him of cheating in that race to qualify him for the Boston Marathon. Rossis story went viral in april after he posted a letter from his Childrens School who said the familys trip to boston would not be considered an excused absence. As we prepare for the pope Church Groups will hold a rally and pilgrimage across philadelphia this afternoon. It will start at the former st. Joachem church in frankford. The group wants to draw attention to families who do not have parishes since the archdiocese have closed their churches. The group hopes the pope will take notice of their efforts. Secretary of state john kerry is in stable condition at this hospital, just outside of geneva after he broke his leg in a bicycle accident. The crash happened in france along the border with switzerland. Kerry had called off the rest of his fournation trip in europe. Lets head now to washington, where the senate will return today for a rare sunday session. Lawmakers will try to reach an agreement on the nsas bulk phone collection program. That is included in the patriot act and will expire at midnight a little bit more than 13 1 2 hours from now. The house has already approved a bill that would allow the nsa to shift to a system of searching phone company records, case by case. Its unclear if senators will advance that bill. Anybody who suffered losses in the most recent storms from last weekend and this week are not eligible yet for fema assistance. Good morning. Temperatures today pushing close to 90 once again. I am tracking a warm end to your weekend, and then afternoon thunderstorms expected for parts of our area. But by tomorrow widespread thunderstorms. Same thing on tuesday with rain back in the forecast. Cooler temperatures in store for us as we head back to work as well, so we wont be as warm as weve been the past couple of days. Right now for philadelphia 80 degrees. Humidity humidity humiditys at 62 . 74 this pottstown, 77 in westchester, 81 in Atlantic City. Temperatures in stone harbor at 70. If youre up early down the shore, its really comfortable out. Radar shows this weather disturbance. We have a cold slot that will slide closer to us into the rest of today. That will give us a chance of severe storms here highlighted in yellow. Thats mainly going to apply to allentown, Lehigh Valley up to the poconos, out to lancaster county. And the rest of the area will be under the green area which is a chance for afternoon thunderstorms. So heres what it looks like on our future weather. It doesnt actually show the thunderstorms, as we head into the rest of tonight. But were still going to keep a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast. So keep an umbrella handy. And then you will notice, we have a better chance to see heavy rain in the poconos and in allentown. And then more widespread rain closer to midnight for philadelphia, and most of our suburbs to the north and west of the city its going to take a while for this rain to move into parts of south jersey. But well continue to see rain falling overnight, tonight into monday. Thats going to set us up for a wet commute. Its coming home from work thats really going to show us the heavy downpours, especially for toms river, philadelphia stretching out to newark. Allentown, and into the poconos. So overnight monday another round of rain, tuesday morning, light rainfall and it picks up again tuesday night and clears up on wednesday. So well see quite a wet pattern starting today, continuing all the way until wednesday morning. That means well see a lot of rainfall. So our rainfall totals are pretty impressive. If we get all of this rain we do kbptexpect to see localized flooding. Very kafrcareful over the next few days. Make sure you turn around especially for places like the poconos, that could get up to 5 inches of rainfall. Same thing for allentown. Some of these readings are a little bit on the high side here, but we expect to see a lot of rain over the next couple of days, because this is about a two to threeday event. Today were going to see temperatures ranging between 86 and 89. Hot with storms especially overnight. And definitely by the time youre heading home tomorrow from work. Temperatures will cool down with the cold front that will move through. Well get all the way down to 71 on tuesday. 75 degree on wednesday. Drying out and then plenty of sunshine on thursday.
