Some of the lanes behind me will be shut down as they try to repair roads. We are told electrical lines blew giant craters in the ground that wont be repaired until tomorrow morning. The traffic not as bad as it was an hour ago. Things are still moving slowly along route 70. Westbound lanes are all still shut down. One eastbound lane is now open. Originally both sides were closed down after power lines came crashing down around 8 30 this morning. We checked and the power cpany says 2,7 00 customers lost power due to the downed wires but tonight that power is back on. At this hour crews are working on the eastbound lane side trying to make sure there are no live wires and, again, working on the roads. Meantime, we called cherry hill police. They told us at this hour they dont know exactly what happened but tell us crews are expected to be out here for another eight to nine hours. Its a story we will continue to follow for now. First alert meteorologist Sheena Parveen has the latest on which areas are under a heat advisory. Thats right, jacqueline. Today was our first day at 90 degree temperatures so far this year. Tomorrow we will still be in the 90s but will be a little hotter than today. Heat advisory, all the counties shaded in orange around the i95 corridor. This goes from noon to 7 00 p. M. Tomorrow and because it could feel like the upper 90s which basically feeling close to 100 degrees. Actual temperatures, mid 90s. For tomorrow, heat tips for you. Stay cool, stay high trait ydrh. Limit your Outdoor Activity especially if you work outdoors. Tomorrow will be a first alert day because of heat and thunderstorms we expect. Mainly tomorrow night. Construction crews are storing huge piles of soil around the support columns under interstate 95. Now one philadelphia leader is questioning whether it might be impacting the roadways stability near the gerard avenue interchange Construction Zone in fishtown. Nbc 10s George Spencer brought the concerns to penndot tonight. George, this all stems from similarities of the emergency shutdown of i495 in delaware. Reporter jacqueline, engineers down in delaware believe big piles of dirt alongside the interstate there may actually have shifted the ground below and thus altered the roadway above. Now here in philly, you can see huge mounds of dirt that are easily four times my height, but penndot insists tonight the two situations are actually very different. Just days ago, cameras captured this red mack truck dumping piles of dirt directly beneath the east coast main highway and tonight we witnessed mountains of soil almost as high as the road surface filling in and hugging around the support columns that hold up i95. Its soil storage that looks similar to what crews found alongside i495 in delaware two weeks ago which engineers believe left that bridge unsafe for drivers. I go by a lot. Reporter tom is among the 100,000 who drive i95 every day. Employees in the office of philadelphia controller first noticed these mountains of graybrown soil and followed up with this letter of concern to penndot today. We want to make sure the people who are in charge of safety this area are alerted and focus on it. Reporter penndot told us tonight the dirt will be used for embankments and will be gone by late next week. The department says, the short duration of the dirt underneath i95 has not compromised the safety of the highway. Whats more, the support piles of the two roads differ significantly inng making the delaware bridge more susceptible to movement, they say. Drivers and watchdogs alike tell us they hope engineering experts are monitoring the philly situation to prevent what happened in delaware. Wed rather be safe than sorry. Reporter walking with a limp, this 13yearold shows me the blood soaked tshirt and shorts he was wearing when he was shot a few blocks from his home. The family asked us not to say the teens name. I was scared. Reporter police say yesterdays shooting on 20th street near morris centered on a stolen bicycle, white and black mongoose bike that looks similar to this. The victims friend had borrowed the bike when it was stolen sunday. Went to go look for it. Reporter the victims stepfather drove him and the 13yearold friend around the neighborhood looking for a bicycle. They ran into a man who said for information. Re instead he pulled out a gun and fired at least rounds into the car. I was looking at him the whole time shooting at me. Reporter he curled up to protect himself but caught a bullet to his backside that exited through the front of his leg and took a bullet to his arm. Its, like, swollen shot right back here.
