Witnesses say the 10yearold boy was headed to a sleepover when he was struck and killed by the cruiser. The accident happened at delsea drive in Franklin Township gloucester county. Nbc 10s Randy Gyllenhaal talked to family and investigators about the tragedy. Reporter the three boys were walking along delsea drive. Their family says they were headed to a sleepover. One was crossing the street, when they were hit by a Franklin TownshipPolice Cruiser headed to a call here. You can see an active investigation here at the scene because one of these boys was killed by the impact. The other two with boys were not injured. The victims family lives in the neighborhood. Obviously very distraught. They tell nbc 10 the 10yearold boid boy did not see the police car coming. Family members and one witness said the cruiser did not have lights or sirens activated but we were unable to independently confirm that detail with authorities. The victim was a 10yearold boy and the driver of the vehicle was a Franklin TownshipPolice Officer. The matter is currently under investigation.
