Some other storms approaching harrisburg. Even more are back to the west. Yeah, there are going to be showers and storms in the area this evening. Not over the next couple of hours. But that stuff from maryland starts moving eastward, going into delaware, especially New Castle County. It will take a few hours. Another area goes toward the poconos. Showers and storms overnight. And then its all over with by tomorrow morning. Its going to be hot and humid at 6 00. The storms threat is between 8 00 and midnight. They issued a closing notice to the casino which will become the fourth in Atlantic City to go out of business this year. Another emotional day of testimony as investigators took the stand in the trial of a woman accused of kidnapping and kindergartner. Prosecutors sas Christina Regusters acted alone when she abducted the child. The girl was found the next day on an upper darby playground. An interview between investigators and the victim after she was found was played for the jury in court today. Regusters is accused of sexually assaulting the little girl inside her home. The district reminding all drivers to keep an eye out for students who are walking home and getting off buses. Its that time of year. Philadelphia Public School kids, they dont head back until next week. Teachers returned to the classrooms today. Because of budget cuts, they will shell out more of their own money. Philadelphia schools starting the year 81 million in the red. The district has announced it is scaling back on transportation for students, reducing Sanitation Services and Cutting School police officers. Teachers bring in their own supplies to help ease the strain. What i found when i went to Motivation High School today is that they are doing mental prep work. Its not just about bringing in materials. They are preparing to be in the right state of mind, have the right mindset, posseespecially the conditions going on in the School District. While decorating the classroom is part of the back to School Tradition for teachers, its not the only preparation for the start of the new year. For educators like this man of Motivation High School in west philadelphia, having the right attitude is just as important. I cant fix the city of philadelphia. But i am certainly accountable for what happens inside my classroom. No matter what challenges we have, we still want to give them the best. Palmers Charter School says the school plans to fight to stay open. They say its making changes to the school with the help of an educational management company. Back in april the School Reform Commission Voted to close the school because of academic and financial problems. Palmer said today, those problems have been fixed. We have been engaging people in the School District and others to do the right thing and provide the education and the funding for all 1,300 or more of our children. He was arrested in bensalem, bucks county in early april after a threeday man hunt. He is accused of killing a 17yearold boy. He was found dead in an apartment in the Spring Garden section of philadelphia. He had been shot in the head. They were childhood friends. They say they thought of each other as a brother. They took the suss spent into their home when he had no place to go. Three philadelphia teachers accused in a cheating scandal faced a judge today. They are a among five educators facing criminal charges including tampering with public records, forthly and conspiracy. State prosecutors say the five educators, including the principal, ran a cheating ring for the state standardized tests. Philadelphia School District Officials Say in all, 138 educators have been implicated in widespread cheating. Three times was not the charm for two local men. They have been arrested for allegedly robbing the same gas station three times in a month. 49yearold jack calman and 53yearold Arthur Schelling schellingering wischellinger were arrested. They are accused of robbing a gas station three times in late august. They were caught on video. And detectives are working to figure out if they are linked to other burglaries in the area. New details about security breeches at the state medical examiners office. They claim Police Evidence tape were found in the drug evidence vault. They believe that tape allowed thieves to easily steal drugs. State police shut down the lab in february. The cost for managing toxic contamination could top 1 million. City Officials Say they are looking at temporary as well as permanent treatments in order to use the wells again. Inspectors are looking into the source as well as liability for the pollution. The Pennsylvania Department of transportation spreading the word about some lane closures on interstate 95. Starting tonight, the north and southbound lanes of i95 will go from four lanes to three. You are getting some relief. Its still hot. Just a few miles inland. 100 in dover. 97 in wildwood. It feels that much hotter, more humid because we havent seen it this summer very much. We do have thunderstorms just south of harrisburg, west of baltimore. Still far away. They are moving about 25 miles an hour. They are not moving that fast. If it would go at the same speed it would reach the philadelphia area around 8 00. The western suburbs a little sooner than that. Its not an immediate threat. Then there are more showers behind it. You are likely to get some rain during the night tonight, at least in a good portion of the area. Its going to take a little wheel. The remnants of the maryland storms going into delaware and around the philadelphia area. Not everybody gets wet. A lot of us need some rain. Havent had that much recently.
