9 00 a. M. Snow developing and moving in on the lighter side. Temperatures in the midtolow 20s, still below freezing. For south jersey and delaware youll be below freezing once the snow moves in. It will be cold enough for that snow to stick during the morning commute. That is why we are calling it a first alert weather day. Aside from that we are talking about very cold temperatures. Chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz joins us outside to talk about that glenn . Were getting the first blast of the arctic air coming in and when you get into one of these gusts, it really does feel pretty cold especially since our bodies are not used to this. It was in the 50s, near 60 yesterday and much of december was not all that cold. Right now its 32 in philadelphia. It was 40 this morning. 27 in pottstown, allentown, reading, 26 in lancaster, 32 in Atlantic City. 33 degrees in millville. Now, the wind not quite as strong as it was even an hour ago. Were not seeing gusts over 30 miles an hour anymore. And those places with no numbers have no strong gusts. The wind chill now down to 14 in allentown and lancaster. 19 in northeast philly. So its already going down 5 degrees in the poconos. Now, it goes down to 20 degrees tonight, 22 tomorrow night but the coldest of this cold comes thursday morning. 9 degrees in philadelphia. And of course much colder in other parts of the area plus wind on top of that. Well tell you how cold its going to get where you live with the rest of the sevenday in just a few minutes. A dock out of the water for the winter was carried down the block, smashing a mini van along the way. Frein was walked into the pike county courthouse this morning. Inside prosecutors laid out evidence that frein committed the sniper slaying of Corporal Bryon Dickson and the wounding of trooper Alex Douglass last september. Dicksons widow, tiffany glared at frein particularly when video was shown of the shooting. He caz watch tured at an abandoned airplane hangar. We have a very cooperative client. Today a federal judge approved the sale of the former Revel Casino Hotel to the runnerup bidder in last years bankruptcy auction. Glenn straub bid just over 95 million at the auction but he doesnt want the revel for that price. Straub has asked the judge to approve an 87 million sale price which the judge refused to do. Revel was one of four Atlantic City casinos to close last year. New pictures tonight from police of a man they say robbed a Convenience Store in berks county the morning after christmas, police say this man walked into square one on Industrial Drive in tilden township and demanded money. Federal prosecutors have indicated they will request the Death Penalty if there is a conviction. But any verdict is still a long time away. Reporter the marathon bombing trial began under heavy security this morning officers on the ground and in the harbor surrounding the federal courthouse. Throughout the day as many as 500 perspective jurors shared an assembly room. Suspect in the case 21yearold dzhokhar tsarnaev. Dressed in a dark shirt and khaki pants, tsarnaev seemed to smirk as he took his seat at the defense table, then listened as judge George Otoole gave brief instructions to the jurors before they filled out a basic questionnaire. They will begin questioning the remaining pool in groups of 20 late next week. We try to produce a jury that can fairly and impartially render a verdict and give a punishment that considers all options, including the Death Penalty and life without parole. Reporter tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to the bombing that killed three and injured 260 during the 2013 Boston Marathon. And to the murder of mit Police Officer Shawn Collier a few days after that attack. Judge otoole announced today Opening Statements in the case will begin on or around january 26th and that he expects the trial to last three to four months. A resident was in a dumpster looking for recyclables, happened to find a bag that contained the body of a deceased baby. This individual then reported it to a business who called 911 for assistance. The baby was abducted saturday. The childs father is out of the hospital and uncle who was also shot and the childs mother are both in critical condition. Police do not believe the kidnapping was random. How about this, despite security, more people are trying to fly with guns. Government stats show the tsa seized more than 2,200 guns at airports across the country last year. 11 happened at Philadelphia International. The numbers have tripled compared to ten years ago. I think the takeaway from this is in states where you have more gun permits issued more people are comfortable carrying weapons on their person and theyre more likely to forget they have them or not know the rules when going to the airport. This is what well be watching as we go into the Morning Hours tomorrow and because of the timing of this we have a Winter Weather advisory. I95 corridor south jersey and delaware, this will run through the afternoon hours about 1 to 2. S of snow through the afternoon. The main time were watching is the Morning Hours when a lot of people will be on the roadways for the morning commute. Future weather does keep us dry. We go through tonight, the snow will be too far away. 11 00 p. M. We wont be seeing snow. Early tomorrow morning between 6 00 and 9 00 we start to see it approach the area western county first, lancaster, reading, berks county area, Chester County parts of delaware, even up in the poconos. Closer to 9 00 should be widespread at this point. Now again it will be light snow but remember it will be cold for it to stick. Temperatures will be in the 20s at this time for the area. Through the afternoon we start to see that snow taper off. Again, the snow totals not too large, in the Morning Hours, will be seeing 1 to 2 inches possibly but its that timing right during the morning commute.
