The incident happened just before 3 00 this afternoon on judith road in hartley. The 47yearold suspect was flown to christiana hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries. Police havent released the name of the suspect or the trooper as their investigation continues. Tonight, Camden Police are hope for tips from the public that will help solve the vicious beating a 54yearold homeless woman. Now, investigators believe the assault happened somewhere near the stretch of mt. Efrum avenue. The victim whose family was identified as Charlene Lightfoot suffered head trauma and cuts so deep her ears were nearly severed. Police say the attack looks like the work of more than one person. Has a broken eye socket. She has three track turfracture. Her face looks like a watermelon. She has blood on the brain and someone did this to her. Amazingly enough, the victim was able to get herself to virtua hospital in camden. She remains in critical condition. Police believe someone in the camden area knows something about this attack. Reporter while police arent saying much about this case, Defense Attorneys say they have been talking to us. They tell us there is additional video out there that would paint a different picture. Also tonight, nbc 10 obtained a statement from the archdiocese of philadelphia saying they dont condone this type of behavior. This video was released tuesday night showing some believed to have been there when the attack happened. Nbc 10 learned members of the group are from bucks county. The arch die these late this afternoon is releasing a statement saying some of those involved are former archbishop wood students and the school has indicated those implicated graduated several years ago and this kind of activity is not condo condoned. I spoke with several Defense Attorneys who have knowledge of the case or have been hired to represent some of the people in the video. They tell me more video exists. They say one of the beating victims threw the first punch. Witnesses told nbc 10 they heard homophobic slurs during the fight. Defense attorneys represent something allegedly involved tell me this was not a hate crime. Now, we have learned that at least one man and his attorney have shown up here to central detective to talk to investigators. Now to the growing fallout over Domestic Violence accusations involving nfl players. Carolina panthers defensive end greg hardy has now been placed on the nfl commissioners exempt list. Until his Domestic Violence case is resolved. That means he cant practice or play in a game. He was convicted of assault be an exgirlfriend in july and is awaiting an appeal. And tonight, nike has suspended its responsiblership deal with vikings running back adrian peterson. Also today, the team took him off the active roster. Peterson is now banned from all Team Activities until his legal matters are taken care of. The vikings star faces charges for injuring his 4yearold son earlier this year. Peterson admits to using a tree branch to discipline his son. Meanwhile, the Nfl Players Union is challenging ray rices suspension. The allpro running back was originally handed a twogame suspension after he was charged with assault for attacking his now wife in a revel casino elevator. He already served the first game of that suspension when a video of the incident surfaced last week and within hours, the ravens fired rice and the nfl suspend him from the league indefinitely. A top new Jersey Republican wants a review of case of a pennsylvania gun owner whos facing jail time for bringing her weapon into the garden state. State assemblyman says Shaneen Allen should not be sent to jail. Bramnick is calling on prosecutors across the state to take a closer look at allens case. She faces a mandatory threeyear sentence. She is licensed to carry in pennsylvania but never registered the gun in new jersey. Bramnick says most of his fellow lawmakers and the public agree with him. There are 30 states she could have driven through that she would not have been guilty of anything whatsoever. Bramnick endorsed legislation that would lessen penalties for people like allen who have no criminal record. The bill has been nicknamed shaneens law. Allen was denied an Intervention Program by the same Atlantic County prosecutor who granted the program toc ray rice. A vote on the proposed cigarette tax to Fund Philadelphia schools has been placed on hold. The gop leadership in harrisburg delayed the vote until at least monday. Yesterday, a Statehouse Committee unanimously voted in favor of the 2 per pack cigarette tax for the city. Supporters of the tax hope it will generate about 83 million a year for the underfunded Philadelphia School system. Tonight, two more candidates have thrown their hat in the ring to be philadelphias next mayor. One of the candidates is a familiar face in philadelphia politics. Renee, wellknown former District Attorney lynn abraham is one of those people throwing her name in the ring for the mayoral race. Her adviser tells nbc 10 the campaign is still in the planning stages and an official announcement probably wont happen until november. Abraham spent nearly two decades working in the philadelphia District Attorneys office. Abrahams announcement came just under after Kent Trujillo kicked off his campaign outside the School District headquarters. He says education reform is one of his top priorities, that would include getting rid of philadelphias School Reform commission. He worked as a crisis intervention counselor with the School District. He had access to the ipads during a Summer Program at the school. His bail was set at 5,000. A surveillance camera shows him grabbing the banana off the counter of tejada grocery store. He hid the banana under his sweatshirt pretending it was a gun. He got away on a bicycle. The aclu says officers used force to stop a woman from taking pictures of an officer making an arrest. These pictures were posted on its website. The lawsuit claims a Civil Affairs officer walked up to a woman shooting video. The photos show a woman against the wall being held by her neck. It is the fifth such lawsuit against the department.
