Victims of Hurricane Sandy say their new house is being held hostage. This incident with my builder has been worse than the storm. Im Ted Greenberg, why the home hasnt moved from this parking lot. 70s this weekend and then some 80s next week. Im tracking the big warmup for the first week of may and my exclusive nbc 10 first alert forecast. Its been 2 1 2 years since sandy. Hard to believe. But the superstorm is still causing problems for people trying to rebuild. Thats right, a jersey shore family has a new house with no home because of a contract dispute with their builder. Nbc 10s Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg spoke with both sides and explained why skepticism and delays are adding up to more heartache. This is where the front door would be. Theres nothing but pilings on the spot in Ocean Township where jill and dennis say their new house is supposed to be. Thats because its sitting in a parking lot miles away. Theyre holding it hostage. The couple who lost their homes here to Hurricane Sandy 2 1 2 years ago says Price Home Group has had the modular house sitting on their property in stafford township for a week. Its been worse than the storm. Theyve given phg 165,000 and endured seven months of delays. Theyve refused the companys demand for another large payment before it puts the house on pilings and finishes the job. We were supposed to have a house in september of 2014. What happens if i give them that money and they dont deliver the house and they go under . And weve lost every single dollar. Its impossible to pay for something in full and not have it. We have a contract that says we dont have to. Phg disagrees. No one from the company would go on camera but they sent me a copy of the contract that says a third deposit is due three weeks prior to delivery. In a statement, phg says the belloffs defaulted on their contractual obligation and alerted the company that theyre unable to pay according to the contract. The belloffs deny that. Phg also says its offered a few solutions but their proposal remains unanswered. Time is on their side not on ours. Were going broke. They say they continue to pay for a rental home and the mortgage on a property they cant use. Theyre hoping lawyers from both sides will help settle the dispute. This is our front porch. But jill says even if she gets the house, shell spend the rest of her house getting over this storm. Ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. Tonight, a bucks county mans in hiding. The man from nepal was beaten and robbed of his iphone. The phone contains pictures of his wife who is in nepal missing after the earthquake occurred. And he has no way to contact her, he has no way to retrieve those pictures without the iphone. Police say in at least one case the thief left behind some key evidence. Well the east winds for a couple of days have certainly helped to keep the temperature down. Plus, the clouds that are partly related to that east wind. But now that were going to get rid of the east wind and the clouds, were going to be seeing a weekend warmup. A significant one thats going to lead to super weather on sunday for the race. And then 80s for several days next week. Which is way above average. Average is close to 70. A lot of clouds still in the sky right around the station here. But other places seeing it breaking up a little. Still overcast, still international. 61 with very light wind. That wind is really dying down here as we can see. Its out of the northeast, right at the coastline, but its pretty calm. Generally, as we go inland. Temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s except much cooler right at the beaches. And were going to be seeing very little wind on sunday for the broad street run. 58 degrees with virtually no wind at 8 00 a. M. , going up to 65 degrees by 10 00 a. M. Again, sunshine, light winds. Only issue this weekend the pollens going to be high. A lot of clouds around during the day today, but theyre thinning out and breaking up a little bit. The radar, not showing any kind of showers of any significance. And as we go through the rest of the east coast, you see the rain from that noreaster weve been talking about all week to the south of delaware. Thats about as close as it has gotten. Through the evening, generally dry. Tomorrow, its generally dry, too. But there could be some isolated, little showers in the afternoon and some spots. If you do get wet, itll only be for about five ten minutes and probably not very wet because its not real heavy rain. Here comes the warm air as we go sunday and into monday. And once it comes in its going to hang around here for a good bit of next week. Theres the middle of the week and it is still mighty warm overall. Tonight, not exactly warm. Partly cloudy 48 for the low in philadelphia 43 north and west. More sun and clouds tomorrow and certainly more sun than today. Significantly warmer. Highs in the low 70s. And then upper 70s on sunday with lots of sunshine sunny on monday 82 then thunderstorms, cold front comes in for tuesday. But it doesnt really cool us down a whole lot. Temperatures near 80 toward the end of the week, too. Well be right back. There is no royal blood in this country. Nothing is reserved for anyone. Its all just out there. Waiting. For someone to reach out. And take it. And the ones who do. These are the kings and queens of america. Theres over two hundred thousand students in philadelphia. Jim kenney and Tony Williams are fighting over Public Schools versus charters. I think theyre both wrong. Its making sure they all get a good education. Teachers should have their contracts respected. They also should be held accountable. And its wrong philadelphia gets less School Funding than other parts of pennsylvania. Ill work with harrisburg to change that. But if they refuse ill take them to federal court. As mayor ill do whats right for them. Hi im amy fadool from comcast sportsnet. The eagles selected wide receiver Nelson Aguilar from usc with the 20th overall pick last night. This was his reaction after getting that draft news. And today, agholor received a warm welcome at the novacare complex, especially from his new boss chip kelly. At the press conference, he was asked who his biggest influence has been as a fan and player. My High School Football coach. Hes a very special guy. Kind of just taught me, you know concept of you know progression, you know talked about maintaining the former regression. As long as you try to get better every day, youll be fine. Perhaps the bigger news is who the eagles did not draft last night. They were unable to make a deal with the titans that wouldve landed then the second overall pick and that would be oregon quarterback marcus mariota. No one was able to take away from tennessee, mariota is a member of the titans. Chip kelly was asked about his efforts to move up in the draft last night. We had a conversation with both teams but it was way too steep for us to do anything. That didnt really get very serious. We didnt offer any players to anybody. We didnt get into any discussions. So it wasnt really it was just a really steep price. Like driving into a nice neighborhood and looking into a nice house and they tell you the price and you drive away. Weve all been there. In the second round, former players from each team will announce the pick. John runyan will do the same for the eagles. Thats pretty cool you know. To be back around it. And especially being, i mean youve got multiple hall of famers around. Hanging out with them. But also, actually hanging out and, you know, mentoring the draftees. Its kind of that step that the nfls really taken to help our experience help them grow the brand. The phillies begin a series with the marlins tonight. Coverage begins at 6 30 with phillies pregame live. That will do it with sports. Were back after this. Two local groups are waiting to see if their bid to buy the hotel dupont in downtown w
