Alert forecast. Bill, all clear this morning, but its pretty warm out there, right . Its very warm. Clear of any rain. We have clouds overhead, and its going to continue on the warm side this morning and gusty winds once again pushing that warm, moist air into the region. Thats a live view from center city. You can see it. Its completely dry there. Wet weather is not far away, however, and well see the first showers arrive this morning in some of the western suburbs and a chance of some latemorning showers in philadelphia as well. Right now the showers are heaviest to our west and southwest, moving through west virginia. Thats going to be here later today. Right now, 72 degrees in northeast philadelphia. Wilmington 71. 70 in trenton. Its the pocono mountains that have dropped into the 60s this morning. So, stand by for a warm and breezy start and occasional showers breaking through. A few clouds will thin out a little bit for some breaks of sunshine in delaware and south jersey, but areas north and west from the city will stay cloudy and occasional showers as we go into the noontime hour. There is a threat of thunderstorms. Well go through it hour by hour, neighborhood by neighborhood, when i come back. But first, jillian has traffic. Good morning, jillian. Good morning to you, bill. So far, were dealing with one accident out of delaware, happening in new castle, churchmans road at continental drive. Leave extra time there this morning. In philadelphia, 95 at the split with the vine street expressway. You can see 95 is quiet. The vine is clear the entire length in both directions between 95 and 76. Checking some of your drive times right now, you can see 95 southbound, its a good drive, 13 minutes from woodhaven to the vine. 76 westbound from the vine out to the blue route is a 14minute trip. And if youre heading out on 422 eastbound from oaks to route 202, seven minutes. Philadelphia police are looking for a man they say tried to run over two officers. It happened within the past 90 minutes. The officers ran the plates of a car in frankford and found out that the person inside was wanted for murder. When they approached the car, the suspect tried to run them over. No one was hurt. Mralso new from overnight, police are investigating a shooting that left two wounded around 12 30 this morning in the olney section of philadelphia. Some houses and parked cars were hit by stray bullets. The two victims are in stable condition. Police are still looking for the shooter. It is 4 33. New developments in the ebola o outbreak. Federal Health Officials admit they were not aggressive enough in containing the virus as it spread from a patient to a dallas nurse. The cdc says it could have had more hands on with staff at the dallas hospital once ebola was diagnosed. Meantime, National Nurses united claims the nurses worked without proper protective gear in sloppy conditions and dealt with changing protocol. They also say the entire lab specimen Delivery System could have been contaminated. 76 hospital workers are now being monitored. As you know, one nurse has ebola. She is doing well. And the World Health Organization released a disturbing forecast about the ebola outbreak. They say if the response to the crisis is not stepped up within 60 days, west africa could face up to 10,000 new ebola cases each week. In our area, an Ebola Task Force was formed in Delaware County and those members will meet this morning. Today is the annual safe schools summit here in Delaware County. It happens every year. And in just a few hours, school leaders, police and Health Officials will meet to talk about the various threats against students. And at the top of that list this morning, they will be talking about the deadly ebola virus. Theyll also talk about the dangers of enterovirus and the flu. One of the goals of the summit is to make sure all schools here in Delaware County are prepared in case ebola does travel here. Yesterday, county leaders created the ebola and Infectious Disease task force. The countys medical adviser is helping to lead that team. He says they have a plan for educating people against this deadly virus. Were going to communicate the dangers of this disease. Were going into the community, to the underserved, to those that need to be informed. Were going to communicate with our first responders. Reporter and as a followup, we asked that doctor if Emergency Responders here in Delaware County have the appropriate training and gear to respond to a potential ebola patient. Now turning to the virus thats believed to have made hundreds of kids across the nation sick. Enterovirus d68. Authorities in phoenix, arizona, are trying to determine if the death of a first grader is linked to evd68. The boy came down with severe respiratory problems over the weekend. He died yesterday. Officials ordered classrooms at his school to be disinfected. Grief counselors will be at that school later this morning. Meantime, a new test could show more confirmed cases of enterovirus d68. The cdc is now using a faster test to diagnose the virus and speed through a backlog of cases. Since august, enterovirus d68 is believed to have sickened hundreds of kids across the country, including 4yearold eli waller of hamilton township, mercer county, who died from the virus last month. More intensive cleaning is taking place at several schools in ocean county because of the virus. The custodial crew at Barnegat Township school is disinfecting all surfaces. The current concern is enterovirus d68 and ebola, which prompted one township to clean eight playgrounds. Wanted to make sure that what we did is, if not so much as eliminate it, decrease the chance of them getting sick. I dont know if its actually going to help, but i do appreciate that theyre doing something to be proactive about it. And heres another thing that may help. In the man hunt for state Police Killer eric frein there are new concerns the fugitive could strike again. Frein has been on the run now for 34 days. Hes accused of shooting two Pennsylvania State troopers in the poconos, killing one of them. The state Police Commissioner said his concern of frein attacking again is based on a review of a behavioral scientist. In bucks county, police say they have arrested two people of interest in the holdup of bar louie in bensalem township. Investigators say three to five armed and masked men forced employees into a walkin freezer before robbing the restaurant. One worker was injured by a stun gun. A graphic protest is coming to one of philadelphias hottest tourist destinations. The controversial topic will be on display later this week. Putting a cap on parking prices . A ribboncutting for the new pricerite store is set for later they morning. The new store is expected to generate 80 full and parttime jobs. Camden has been without a supermarket since september of last year. 4 40 and happening today, a bill that would crack down on parking lot price gouging will come up for a vote in Atlantic City council. That measure was introduced after some concertgoers were charged 50 to park at two free concerts over the summer in ac. Now city officials want parking lot owners to tell them about parking fee increases at least 48 hours in advance. Under this proposed ordinance, fines for price gouging would be raised from 100 to 1,000. Now to the casino crisis in Atlantic City. A judge will decide tomorrow whether the trump taj mahal can terminate its union contract. Both sides made their arguments in federal Bankruptcy Court in delaware yesterday. Trump entertainment said it needs relief from pension and Health Insurance costs in order to keep the casino open past midnovember. Were tracking showers to the west right now, and well see some scattered, lighter showers to start with this morning and heavier downpours with a thunderstorm threat later today and into tonight. Heavy downpours. We could see rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with some higher amounts that could lead to some street flooding in the area. 73 degrees right now in reading. Philadelphia 71 and 70 degrees in cape may. These are already warmer than the normal High Temperature for this time of year. Those showers are going to be heading into the area to start with this morning, but its just going to be light shower activity to begin with. You can see the light showers. They are just to our west, just glancing past parts of western Lancaster County right now, while the heavier rainfall in western pennsylvania will wait until later this afternoon and this evening. We are getting a very warm and windy start this morning. The winds have been gusting to more than 20 miles an hour. Theyre steady at 15 miles an hour in the pocono mountains, and we are seeing gusts currently of more than 20 miles an hour in parts of south jersey and areas north and west, too. Future weather showing 70s to start with with occasional showers to the west. The first line of showers will be scattered and light. And then the heavier rainfall starts inching towards us. It was on churchmans road right at continental drive, but it is now gone and out of there. And that was our only accident of the morning. So, so far, the majors are pretty quiet. A live look in center city, philadelphia. The vine street expressway at 8th street is clear. No issues there. 422 eastbound, arm aand hammer boulevard ramps are closed due to construction there. And speeds in the mid50s on 422, especially around oaks. Things can get busy there later in the morning. At 4 50, its a little warm for ice skating today, but fun to look forward to. Well be learning more today about the new ice skating rink planned forad dilworth plaza. Today at new, details of the ice skating rink will be announced. Its slated to open some time before thanksgiving. Thats not too far away. New york citys second tallest building is now the tallest residential tower in the western hemisphere, at least for the time being. The structure on park avenue stands nearly 1,400 feet tall, higher than the empire state building, but lower than 1 world trade center. The nordstrom tower, now under construction, is expected to be the second tallest building in new york when complete in 2018. Whole foods is rolling out a ranking system for fruits and vegetables today. The Supermarket Chain says it will prohibit the use of common pesticides. Produce will be labeled as good, better or best, based on the suppliers farming practices. Rankings will be noted on signs where prices are listed.
