You dont see it here on this view from center city but the cape may camera is showing it clearly right now. Those foggy spots are going to be disappearing as the day goes on. The fog will not be lasting through the day. There you can see cape may. That is a live view from the mar question quis to lafayette hotel. Areas north and west seeing light fog for pottstown and blue bell. Wrightstown now up to twomile visibility, but toms river, Atlantic City wildwood all reporting dense fog right now at quartermile visibility. We will see the fog clear. We will see showers return to the area. Right now the radar is clear, but the wet weather, the first showers that will be moving in and some thunderstorm activity now just east of richmond to the north of norfolk. New from overnight, police are looking for two men who pulled a Home Invasion robbery in West Philadelphia around 11 30 on north conestoga street. Investigators say the men robbed and pistol whipped a man inside this home. The victim was taken to the hospital. He is expected to be okay. The intruders got away with a tv, a playstation and some video games. Today the woman convicted of abducting a 5yearold girl from school holding her captive and sexually assaulting her numerous times will learn her prison sentence. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live outside the criminal Justice Center in center city philadelphia. Matt it has been more than two years since we first reported these crimes. Reporter and rosemary the District Attorneys Office has been asking for a life sentence in this case. Christine regusters has been sitting in a jail cell since that guilty verdict last year. Now, christine regusters was convicted including aggravated assault and kidnapping. The former daycare worker took a 5yearold girl from a Cobbs Creek Elementary School in 2013. She walked in wearing muslim garb and claimed to be the girls mother. Now, prosecutors successfully argued that she took the girl home blindfolded and stripped her, put her under a bed and sexually abused her in a brutal manner. Later leaving her alone with a tshirt in a nearby playground. Regusters family and the victims family have been emotional throughout all of this. Regusters herself had no emotion after the verdict. She has undergone a standard Mental Health evaluation and prosecutors throughout this whole thing have likened regusters to a monster. Again, the maximum sentence would be life in prison. And we have this new video of one of those tornadoes that tore through oklahoma yesterday. The aftermath is now playing out. This morning some schools in the tulsa area are closed because of power outages. Yesterday a tornado in sand springs, oklahoma killed one person and injured several. It also damaged buildings and vehicles and caused some fires. Now, this was all part of a series of tornados that touched down in that state yesterday. The town of moore got hit again. That, of course, was the site of that deadly twister in 2013 that killed 24 people and injured more than 300. Today leaders in bucks county are expected to make an announcement about more money for an advanced data center which is the first of its kind in the northeast. Commissioners are set to talk about 2 million coming to the site of the Keystone Industrial port complex. Keystone nap says it will offer webbased power and communications to improve network performance. Today students in bucks county will help introduce their new school at a groundbreaking in the Bristol TownshipSchool District at the site of the former mary divine Elementary School. This is all part of the districts Elementary School overhaul plan which includes closing nine schools and bringing students together in different buildings. Well Camden City School leaders have announced a shakeup in leadership at five of its lowest performing schools. Thats right. And one of its Oldest School buildings is shutting down. The five schools are Bonsall Family School east camden mcgraw elementary molina elementary and whittier. The Whittier School building is more than 100 years old and will close for good. Educational nonprofits best known for operating Charter Schools will take over leadership at those five schools. Education Officials Say only one out of every five students in the camden city School District performs at grade level. We dont give them the opportunity that theyre due, then were failing as leaders. Through this partnership, were building some real signs of progress. You may remember just last month in philadelphia, there was plenty of public outcry when the src considered granting charters to some of the same groups now expanding in camden. The schools to be transformed in camden will not become charters. The district calls them renaissance schools that will still be neighborhood schools run by the School District. And right now even though it is dry, it wont stay dry. Just to the south, showers and some thunderstorm activity moving through eastern virginia on the way into maryland and these first showers will reach into delaware. And there are more showers where those have come from. A line of showers moving through north carolina. Those will also be moving into our area this morning. And then this evening, were watching some wet weather to the west. Thats a line of storms potentially for the evening hours. But through it all, the temperatures will be warmer. In fact this afternoon well top out in the middle 60s to near 70 degrees. Fog disappears this morning. Then showers and this evening the thunderstorms with winds gusting to 20 miles an hour. Theyll take him to a Halfway House in washington where he will serve the remainder of his sentence. Prosecutors could rest their case today against Boston Marathon bombing suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev. Yesterday the fbi agents testified that they found bomb components in his familys apartment similar to those used in the two bombs that exploded near the marathon finish line in 2013. Tsarnaevs lawyers have admitted that he and his older brother, tamerlan, dead nated those bombs, but they say tamerlan was the mastermind of the attacks. We could find out tomorrow whether italys top court will uphold a guilty verdict against american amanda knox or send that trial yet back to another appeal. Yesterday the panel of judges delayed their decision by two days. Knox and her former boyfriend were convicted and then later acquitted of murdering knoxs roommate. Last year an Italian Appeals Court upheld the original guilty verdict. Don tollefsen was once the highest paid sportcaster in philadelphia but now hes getting ready to serve time behind bars. He was convicted of selling bogus sports packages and pocketing the money. I was hoping to see a little emotion, to see some sincere remorse to take real ownership of his actions. And he just didnt do that. You know hes just hes just too arrogant. The judge ordered tollefsen to pay back to the victims more than 160,000. New dash cam video shows a new Jersey Police officer arrested for dui more than two years before he caused a deadly wrongway crash. Police say in february of 2013 linden officer pedro abad jr. Drove into a parked car and could not complete a sobriety test. A judge later suspended the officers license and he was ordered to put a device on his vehicle which detects if the driver has had alcohol. Last friday morning abbad was behind the wheel when he drove the wrong way after a night at a new york exotic dance club. His car crashed head on into a tractor trailer, killing another officer and a friend. A third officer was seriously injured. 4 48 now. People across pennsylvania are being asked to conserve water after officials declared a drought watch. This impacts 27 counties across the state including in this area, burks, carbon columbia luzerne, monroe pike and schuylkill. They have low groundwater levels that may not return to normal until summer. Now, the state is hoping people will voluntarily reduce their nonessential usage by 5 . Can you do that by Running Water only when necessary. Also checking for household leaks, the toilet is the main source of that. And running dishwashers and washing machines only when they have full loads. From our Jersey Shore Bureau now, a major beach replenishment project is in the works for a popular stretch of the jersey shore. Thats right but some argue the timing couldnt be worse. The work on Long Beach Island is scheduled to start in late april and expected to last 35 days. The u. S. Arm corey core of engineers says no more than two miles of beach will be closed at one time, but some are concerned that the construction could extend beyond the normally busy memorial day weekend. If youre going to rent an oceanfront house and you have that in front of it i dont think you will or youll want your money back if you did. The projects manager tells nbc 10 dredges needed for the work were not available earlier this year. He says the project is so large there is no way to avoid the summer season.
