On florence avenue between 54th and 56th street, you can take warrenton avenue if you need to get around that spot. Heading to the northeast, two spots of construction, northbound between lansdale and quakertown. Lehigh valley, the left lane is blocked in that area. Right here in allentown, a live look at 309 and route 202 clear. 309 free of accidents, chris. Were following a pair of breaking news this morning. A woman was found dead inside her home. Monique braxton just got to the scene. Monique, what you can tell us . Reporter just a short time ago, tracy, i talked to the nighttime commander. He told us that police were called to his home, 57th and 53rd street by a 57yearold woman who said the three men had forced their way into heir house. They found that womans roommate, a 64yearold woman beaten apparently to death. Police are telling us she had severe trauma over most of her body but they dont know the exact cause of death, they also tell us she was naked. Weve learned that survivor who weve learnei hat survivor who also beaten. Police tell us theyre looking for three suspects. They had masks on. Dark hoodies. They say that they have no idea where they are at this point. But we can tell you back out here live now that homicide detectives have just arrived on the scene. Theyre awaiting a search warrant. The crime scene unit is on its way. Were going to continue to gather evidence here and have more for you in the next half hour. Live for now in West Philadelphia, Monique Braxton, nbc 10 news today. Two minutes after 5 00, the other breaking news story were following. The fire that destroyed two row homes and damaged a third. Nbc10s jesse gary live on the scene there. Have investigators figured out what caused the fire yet . Reporter chris, i just finished talking to fire investigators. Theyre still investigating. The fire spread up lawrence avenue to other row homes. One resident said she was asleep and unaware of the danger. Smoke alarm went off. When i woke up, i could not see my hand in front of me my alarm was going off. Thats how fast, you know, the smoke came to my house. Reporter fire Officials Say the residents from the multiple row homes were all evacuated safely. Some are being cared for by the red cross. Coming up in the next hour, youre going to hear from the fire officials how difficult it was facing the flames from spreading the fire all the way down the block. Live in southWest Philadelphia, jesse gary, nbc 10 news today. This morning, we have new information on a stuck train in north philadelphia. Septa says it will not impact the morning commute. Skyforce 10 was over the scene last night stuck under an amtrak bridge near fifth and allegheny. No word on why it got stuck. Normal service is expected on the trennon regional line this morning. Trips did have to be cancelled last night. Happening today, the man accused in the drunk driving beth of a philadelphia grandmother is set to go to trial. He was charged with vehicular homicide and other crimes. Authorities say in 2013, his suv jumped the curb killing Teresa Marquardt who was walking with her husband. She was 58 years old. This morning, police are looking for at least one gunman who opened fire in a south philadelphia neighborhood leaving one man dead and an incident victim injured. This is the scene in philadelphia that witnesses said looked like a war zone. Police say someone fired at least 26 shots. Thats how many shell casings until found there. They dont know who the gunman was shooting at this point. Craig watson is the man who survived the shooting. A friend calls him a pillar of the community. Loved his children, loved his job, loved what he did and he is an outstanding citizen for this community. Police dont believe washington was the intended target. The man killed was identified as 35yearold wayne jones. Police have made no arrests at this point. Also today, a series of meetings to address violence in new jersey leaders will get the public input on how to cut down on violence. Todays meeting will be held on Rutgers University campus in camden. Next week, leaders will come together in trenton. And then another meeting at Second Baptist Church in atlantic city. The commission on violence is holding these hearings. Now to news from our Delaware Bureau this morning. The fbi has ranked the states largest city, wilmington, third in violence compared to 450 cities of equal size. This dat did covers 2013 when 150 people were shot in wilmington and 18 died. According to delaware online, a spokeswoman said the fbi ranking offers a very interesting sp ii perspective on crime. Happening today in Delaware County, the barrick Hebrew Academy is expected to reopen after someone found a bag of ammo at the school. Police say there was no threat and no weapon was found, but they were send home early because of precaution. In delaware and Chester County they will hold a series of rallies. Teachers and staff plan to walk an informal picket line in downingtown. The rallies are designed to draw attention to stalled contract talks. More than 3200 union member, are part of the negotiation process. Parents, teachers and students want the violence to stop at bartham high school in southWest Philadelphia. This cell phone video weve been showing you showed a substitute teacher knocked out cold in the hallway last week. The administration said the solution isnt adding more security or cameras but better education on how to act in school. Students and teachers say theyve had had enough. If that happens to a teacher, what makes you think that isnt going to happen to students . Its heartbreaking, it really is. Because schools are about education. And when youre distracted by the negativity and the violence according to the district figures last year students committed 166 aggravated assaults on staff at philadelphia schools. Yeah, in fact, theres a good chance well see snow in the pocono mountains. The rest of the area is in for a chilly rain later on. Its definitely a colder morning. The temperatures are dropping but its actually warmer than it will be tomorrow and into the weekend, it gets even colder. During the day, well see sunshine to start with. It will be nice and light. The clouds will arrive this afternoon. That will lead to a chance of evening rain showers for philadelphia. And for the northern and western suburbs, it will be rain but the pocono mountains could very well see snowflakes. Clear skies, 41 in philadelphia. 43 in cape may. Much colder than yesterday. Parts of the area, almost 25 degrees colder. And the wind blowing just enough to make it feel even chillier. Feels about five degrees below the actual temperatures. The first of those in West Philadelphia where there is an apparent Home Invasion and murder. Police got a 911 call around 3 00 saying someone was breaking into this home. When police got there they found a 62yearold woman beaten inside to death. Her 53yearold roommate was injured. Theyre getting a search warrant to go into that home and look at more evidence. Also on the scene of this breaking story. This is in southWest Philadelphia, 54th and florence street where there was a fire at a row home. It from started in one of the homes and spread. Two were destroyed. Families did make it out safely. Investigators are looking for the cause of that fire. And now to another fire in the Philadelphia Franklin avenue. Orthodox and frankford, not clear how badly the woman was hurt. Police in Camden County police say they will provide more information on a firefighters wanted for charges. He was a firefighter in pleasantville. Now, hes wanted in connection to a burglary investigation in winslow township. The former firefighter is the son of pleasantville councilwoman judy ward. She said he went to the Police Station but was turned away. I have no comment at this point, i do want it known we love our son. We support him, we dont believe the charges to be true because of his integrity. The Penn State Community will soon get a look at the document ter on the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal. The movie happy valley will shown tomorrow night. The filmle following the arrest of the former football coach to his conviction for abuse ten boys. The documentary also contains an interview with matt sandusky, Jerry Sanduskys adopted son. Jerry sanduskys wife released this statement saying, quote, the sandusky family is disappointed though not surprised that matt has chosen to continue to fabricate a story, this time, for a nationally released documentary. This morning, more state workers are out of a job because of those bornographic emails in pa within the state system. Attorney general Kathleen Kane said four of her employees were fired 11 others were suspended without pay. It happened after emails came to light during investigation of how prosecutors handled the sandusky saex busquets. Kean said two others could be fired. One problem, the new jersey river line Light Rail Service has a 30minute delay in both directions between camden and trenton. This is due to communication problems. So far, that is the only delay that we are seeing when it comes to mass transit. Just a note if youre waking up and traveling the bridges no accidents or delays to report. That is good news. Trenton is down to 36 degrees. Its 35 in langhorne while along the delaware river, its 40 degrees. 34 for doylestown and warrington. And below freezing in kintnersville. And upper bucks county, 31 degrees right now. The radar completely clear. Dont expect to see any wet weather this morning or later this afternoon. But later in the afternoon, well be watching for the first shower to develop. Well see snow falling off to the northwest and snow falling in the mountainous area. In our area, well see a chilly rain moving through. This is the future, so not expecting to see any snow in philadelphia, pottstown or even reading. But the pocono mountains, a different story. By 6 00 this evening, we could see a dusting in the pocono mountains. By 8 00 this evening, maybe a half an inch, just in a few spots because temperatures are just going to be too warm for anything to stick. Then it clears out, and we will see a dry day tomorrow. For today, clouds increase. 40s for most of the area this afternoon. Northwesterly winds to 9 miles an hour. Its not as windy as yesterday. Colder tomorrow. Turns out the government Consumer Watchdog Agency is proposed new rules for prepaid cards requiring companies to disclose fees and offer protection. Consumers added about 65 billion in debt to those accounts in 2012. The rules would apply to plastic cards that act as debit cards and sold at big retailers like walmart. As well as electronic accounts to store fronts like pay pal and google wallet. Meanwhile, a new report
