New this morning, the Ronald Mcdonald<\/a> house is celebrating its 40th anniversary today, and it all started in philadelphia. The cofounders are former eagles general manager jimmy murray and former c. H. O. P. Doctor audrey evans. Murray went to dr. Evans because a players daughter had cancer. She had a vision for a house where families could stay during treatment. Murray went to mcdonalds and it snowballed from there. What started as an idea for one house in philadelphia has now grown to 336 around the world. Its filled with loving people who are there because they want to do something to help. So, the whole surround is helping these families going through whatever it is that theyre here for. And they are selling clown socks today at landmarks throughout philadelphia for 10, and the money will go to the Ronald Mcdonald<\/a> house. Happening today, a bill that would crack down on parking lot price gouging comes up for a vote in Atlantic City<\/a> council. Now, this measure was introduced after some concert goers over the summer were charged 50 to park in parking garages. They were attending free concerts. City officials want parking lot owners now to tell them about parking fee increases at least 48 hours in advance. Under this ordinance, fines for price gouging would be raised from 100 to 1,000. And now to the casino crisis in Atlantic City<\/a>. A judge will decide tomorrow whether the trump taj mahal should be allowed to terminate its union contract. Both sides made their arguments in federal Bankruptcy Court<\/a> in delaware yesterday. Now, trump entertainment said that it needs relief from pension and Health Insurance<\/a> costs in order to keep the casino open past midnovember. The union has offered 2. 4 million in annual concessions, but trump entertainment wants 14. 6 million a year in giveback. If the ruling goes against the company, trump entertainment says its likely to close the taj mahal by november 13th. Legal Sports Betting<\/a> in new jersey could soon become a reality. This would be a move to try to help out the struggling casinos. Lawmakers passed a bill that will clear the way for Sports Betting<\/a> in the garden state yesterday. Now, the measure is the latest in a long effort to legalize sports gambling and give a boost to the states casinos and racetracks. Four Atlantic City<\/a> casinos have closed this year. The Department Says<\/a> drivers not paying attention caused 146 crashes across the state last year, so theyve started a new campaign to try to cut down on some of that. In the past two weeks, officers have handed out a total of 316 citations to drivers who were texting or talking on their cell phones behind the wheel. This was part of a 12day blitz that ended sunday. Now, thats more citations in two weeks than the department issued during the first eight months of the year. To Mercer County<\/a> now, where trentons school board has voted to demolish its high school and build a new one. Trenton Central High School<\/a> is 82 years old and is literally falling apart.
