Route 70 and cherry hill Camden County is back open. Theyve been closed for a while. Wires fell on the highway near cuthbert boulevard just before 9 00 last night and damaged the road. The highway was closed while the crews made repairs. Traffic was allowed on one lane in both directions. Again this morning, route 70 is completely reopened. Also new from overnight, Philadelphia Police are searching for the person who opened fire on a man who was sitting on his front porch. This happened around 11 00 last night on west spencer street near 21st and germantown. Police say two men came by, one of them asked the victim what he was looking at. He pulled out a gun and fired six shots. The vick was hit in the thigh. He is listed in stable condition. Both of the suspects took off running. Happening today, were expecting test results from a Montgomery County apartment complex. Thats where Authorities Say a suspect wrote a letter laced with the poison ricin. You may recall the standoff in march between police and 19yearold nick lag hellman. Youre looking at hellmans arrest at the Eleanor Court parms in hatboro. Iraqs Largest Oil Refinery is under attack from those radical militants. A spokesperson said insurgents now control most of the refinery. Most cooling centers like the one we visited yesterday in camden are libraries or Community Centers or senior cent centers. Today they will double as a place to get cool. The countys heat alert here in Camden County is in effect from noon to 8 00 p. M. During that time, the county is asking people to keep an eye on those who may not have air conditioning or fans. On days like today if youre okay but you know of people in your neighborhood that maybe dont have the means to have fans or air conditioning or get out the house, go check on them. Go check on them. If you think something may be c wrong, call the authorities. Good advice. I also made calls to the Health Department in philadelphia to phone out what theyre doing today. Theyre offering cooling centers and im told they do not open cooling centers in philadelphia unless there is a heat warning in place.
