The wet roads to begin with, and for drivers on 95 northbound in Delaware County, well, 95 for a stretch is closed because of a deadly accident. Crews are out there. You can take a live look at this scene. Theyve been out there for quite some time investigating and trying to clear the crash. You can see southbound traffic moving fine, not enough volume to account for any gaper delay. But lets go to my computer and i can tell you, 95 northbound is closed between the exits for route 320 and the exits for 476. An alternate around this is 291. Take that to stewart avenue and then follow the signs for 95 northbound to put you back on the interstate at exit 8. Also, were following on the vine street expressway, a jackknifed tractortrailer right at the vine near 24th street, and its affecting the ramp for traffic that wants to get on to 76 eastbound. An alternate, continue west on 76 and then get off, exit at either girard or montgomery, swing back around and that will get you back on 76 eastbound. You can avoid that mess, because of course, a jackknifed tractortrailer is blocking the ramp. Moving into new jersey, for drivers on the garden state parkway northbound right at the exit, northfield and pleasantville, there is an accident. It is in the shoulder, but keep in mind, with the wet roads and all of the issues were having out there, this is just one thing for drivers to be aware of. At 6 03, we continue to follow breaking news in new jersey, where state police just issued an amber alert following a missing baby. Now, police say Jonathan Lawrence abducted his 3monthold son, Steven Ristick, from a home on long island last night. Police say they could be heading to new jersey in a blue dodge minivan with a connecticut license late. Investigators say the father is from new jersey and showed up unannounced at that long island home where he allegedly assaulted the childs grandfather and then took the baby. So far, police have not told us the license plate number or where in new jersey the two could be headed. 6 03. This morning, the legal battle between donald trump and the Casino Company bearing his name will continue in wilmington. The two sides will argue their case in bankruptcy court. Trump is suing Trump Entertainment Resorts because he wants his name removed, claiming the company has harmed his brand by letting the trump taj mahal and trump plaza fall into disrepa disrepair. Trump plaza closed in september and the taj mahal is expected to close december 12th. Over the weekend, Trump Entertainment Resorts offered to restore Health Insurance to workers for at least two years, but it wants the union to drop its appeal of a court order that canceled the Health Insurance and pension plan. The Union President has declined comment. If the taj closes, it would be the fifth Atlantic City casino to close this year. 7,600 people have already lost their jobs and 3,000 more could be out if the taj closes down. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live in Atlantic City. Jesse, this is causing a strain at one food bank. Is that an isolated problem . Reporter tracy, it is not isolated. I talked with officials over at the Atlantic City rescue mission. They say that they have seen a tremendous increase and expect things to get worse this winer and that turn for the worse could begin this week. The Missions Pastor tells me the closing of the four casinos has sent a flood of families to his door. 850 families signed up for thanksgiving food baskets in less than two days. And theyre struggling to serve upwards of 1,000 meals each day. This doesnt include the people the mission shelters each night, overflow conditions with a waiting list for women and children. And police still havent determined exactly what happened to a woman whose naked body was found lying near a busy Shopping Center in south philadelphia yesterday. The body was found next to a warehouse on South Columbus boulevard near modell Sporting Goods and shoprite. A witness tells nbc 10 the body was not there earlier in the day and police have not confirmed the womans identity, but family members say it is their loved one, crystal goodwin. She went missing last wednesday and goodwins family is convinced she was murdered. Its disturbing, because yeah, its just so populated outside everywhere but right there. As a parent, as a human being, i mean, its just, its senseless, and its just, its horrifying. Homicide detectives are waiting for the medical examiner to release a cause of death. Police are hoping security cameras in the area might show them what happened. It is 6 06 and 62 degrees outside. Happening today, a former Montgomery County political leader will go on trial. Former county republican chairman robert kerns will face a judge for aggravated indecent assault. An employee at his law firm accused kerns of giving her drinks and sexually assaulting her after she passed out in october of 2013. Kerns has chosen not to have a jury hear his case. Instead, a judge will decide his fate. The Burlington County mother accused of shooting her kids and then turning the gun on herself died over the weekend. Jeannine lepage died yesterday morning at Cooper University hospital. State police say lepage shot her three children inside their home in tabernacle last week. Two of the children died. Her 11yearold son, alexander, remains in extremely critical condition. Friends of lepage told us she was having financial problems. Today a Lehigh ValleySchool District and its Teachers Union will go before the labor board over contract negotiations. The saukon Valley School board in hellertown claims teachers are bargaining in bad faith. The board say the teachers are asking for more money than they did at the beginning of the contract talks. The union says it could counter sue, but that would waste time and money. The two sides have been negotiating since january of 20 2012. Well, the eagles are getting ready for a thanksgiving day showdown against their rival cowboys after taking care of the tennessee titans. The birds jumped on the titans right from the start of the game. Josh huff took the opening kickoff for 107 yards for a touchdown. But in just a couple days, well looking at a very different situation. A coastal storm with rain and potentially accumulating snow in our area. 57 right now in mt. Pocono. 57 degrees with rain falling in the mountains. Trenton is 63 with rain, and the rain has ended, but still some clouds overhead in dover at 66 degrees. You can see the snow is still on the ground. Weve got a nice snowpack going, which will survive this rain and warm temperatures. The rain is really sttapering o. Right now just a few light, scattered rain showers in new jersey, a few rain drops in allentown and upper montgomery and bucks counties, but the insteadest rain is heavy and the heaviest rain is now over for our area. And we will watch for clearing skies, which will help with a temperature warmup. At 9 00 this morning, a spotty shower is possible, isolated showers at best. And on the light side in new jersey. But the rest of the area will be dry. And by lunchtime, well see enough sunshine to have us up to 70 degrees. So, stand by for a big warmup today, but its temporary. Police are investigating this scene and then will eventually move it off the roadway and reopen 95 northbound. But unfortunately, for hours it has been closed, forcing drivers to find an alternate. You can take 291 around this. Take 291, make a left on steward avenue to take you to 95 northbound and get you back on the highway at exit 8. And you can continue on your morning commute, but this is adding a big headache for a lot of people on the roads. Another big headache on the vine street expressway westbound, a jackknifed tractortrailer right on the ramp for drivers trying to get on to 76 eastbound. So, the best thing you can do is continue westbound, get off at either girard or montgomery. And then swing back and get on to 76 eastbound via girard or montgomery. For new Jersey Drivers still this morning a wet commute. Lawyers for Pedro Hernandez are arguing that he is mentally ill and was not capable of understanding his rights when he confessed to killing patz. Hernandez was arrested in 2012 at his home in maple shade, more than three decades after patzs disappearance in new york city. Hernandez told police he lured the child into the basement of a store and murdered him. Friends and family today will remember Jeremy Augustine at a Funeral Service at Grace Lutheran Church in macungie. Augustine was one of two people who died in this deadly pileup last wednesday. Police say an outofcontrol tractortrailer caused that accident. Driver Steven Bernier is facing charges including homicide by vehicle. Police say he was asleep and speeding at the time of the crash. Rescuers pulled two women and a dog from a pile of rubble alive after their Apartment Building collapsed in chicago. Fire Officials Say there was an explosion, and all three floors pancaked toward the basement. The victims are in serious condition. Investigators are now working to find out what caused the explosion. And a tour bus crashed twice in one day. The first accident was minor, but the second one was deadly. And now investigators are working to find out if the driver was too hired to be behind the wheel. The bus was traveling from los angeles to Washington State when it ran off the road, went down an embankment and overturned. One person was killed. 30 others were hospitalized. Today, 19 americans will receive the nations highest civilian honor. This years recipients to the president ial medal of freedom will be honored during an afternoon ceremony at the white house. Penndot says if youre driving through pennsylvania, you might notice some improvements to area roads, like the schuylkill expressway, also new lanes on route 202 and a new platt bridge. You will also have a smoother ride on i95 near the airport, which took a beating last winter. Penndots jean blom says you shouldnt have any trouble getting where youre going. Barring any type of emergency situation, the roadways travel lanes will be open. Penndot says construction crews will stop working on wednesday morning and will be off through the Holiday Weekend to keep the roads clear for travelers. That is not the case this morning. For drivers on 95 northbound, it is closed between exits 6 and 7. This is in Delaware County. And this is a live look at the scene. Its been out there for quite some time. Its affecting this stretch between the exit for route 320 and for i476. So, you can see no drivers are getting by on this stretch, which is evident of our drive time. Its taking you zero minutes because youre not able to go on this stretch. But southbound, you can see drivers are getting by just fine. Theres not enough volume to account for any gaper delay and its taking you eight minutes to go from 476 to the delaware line. An alternate around this is route 291. Take that to stewart avenue, make a left on stewart avenue and then follow the signs for 95 northbound and that will get you back on the interstate. Also an update to an accident on route 422 eastbound. Its right past route 29. It was affecting traffic directly in the middle of the roadway. It has since been moved to the shoulder, so its not delaying things there much. For drivers in new jersey on the garden state parkway northbound, there is an accident near the Northfield Pleasantville exit, which is exit 36. Steady rainfall overnight coming to an end, but the winds still with us. These are steady winds at 20 miles an hour for dover, trenton, mt. Holly. 22 miles an hour with higher gusts in the pocono mountains. Thats going to push the clouds out of here, but the warm air will stay with us through this afternoon. Just some scattered showers in new jersey. The heavier showers are now offshore. The clouds are already thinning out to the west. We will see sunshine break through the clouds and warm things into the 70s today. And tomorrow well still be mild. It will be less windy tomorrow, but those winds will be on duty today to bring us into the 70s. Then its wednesday that weve got some trouble coming. A coastal storm system will likely start as rain and then change to snow and accumulating snow at that.
