Unfortunate news for drivers on 76 eastbound with an accident in gulph mills on the onramp. You can see it here in the traffic camera. Ive been watching it over the last hour thats pretty new. Theres a tow truck creeping out to the lane of 76 eastbound at gulph mills as part of the process to overturn the vehicle on the ramp. So im keeping my eye on it. I checked drive times between 76 and the blue route and vine in both directions that doesnt seem to be affecting things in that area so far, just keep that in mind. It will probably be slow going if you enter 76 eastbound via the gulph mills ramp. In plymouth township ridge pike at chemical road. They are trying to correct that around the intersection that is definitely getting busier as the morning progresses. We are in the 6 00 hour. Then in upper gynedo an accident on Sumneytown Pike blocking a lane there. And for mass transit, on the market frankrd line, board on the westbound side. Crews across the region are ready to roll for the weekends storm. Penndot says they are prepared for more than 330 trucks and plows to be put to work. One of those fires spread to a home with a family inside. Nbc 10s jesse gary is joining us live now from the tacony section of philadelphia. This has to be more of a coincidence here. Reporter you can see behind me the abad family home has a light on and are getting ready to go to work. The owner says he has a second vehicle and can get to work. The Mercury Mariner is a complete loss. And this all started with a first fire at 1 00 this morning near robin street in the tacony section of philadelphia. That was a dark colored nissan parked on the street that went up in flames. Then an hour after that this fire here in the 6300 block of dittman also in tacony, the mariner went up in flames and the flames spread to the second floor of this bedroom row home and also melted the headlight cover to a neighbors minivan. That neighbor, their dog was barking, and that alerted people to awake the neighbors. They were able to get their kids out to the abad family get their family up and get them out of the house. Everyone made it out without getting injured, but the big question is this all related and is it a case of arson . The fire marshall was out earlier seant dogand sent dogs out sniffing the scene. As soon as we hear from them if it is connected, well let you know. Right now they call it suspicious and likely arson. Jesse gary nbc 10 news. At 6 04 we are following a developing story from overseas. The deadline from isis for japan to pay ransom for two hostages has passed about five hours ago. Isis posted an online clock counting down to zero. Irs cyst threatened to kill the two men if the japanese government didnt pay 200 million. Leaders in tokyo are doing their best to secure the hostages release but wont yield to isis. The reverend al sharpton Civil Rights Group is calling for state and not local investigators to look into the Police Shooting death of jerame reid in bridgeton. Bridgeton Police Released the dash cam video of the deadly traffic stop. In the vehicle you can hear one of the officers warning reid several times not to move after finding a gun inside the car in which he was the passenger. Reid appeared to shove his way out of the car pushing the door open just before he was shot to death. The two officers were suspended while their county prosecutor investigates. And today in delaware this woman will be sentenced for her fourth dui offense. A jury convicted Kimberly Mauk of causing a crash to injury a family of four in wilmington in 2013. Happening today a philadelphia priest facing a child sex charge will go before a judge. The reverend Andrew Mccormick has a Pretrial Hearing today with the first trial ending in a hung injury. Hes accused of assaulting a boy in 1997. He was placed on leave a year earlier because of unrelated abuse allegations. And in bucks county members of a wellknown family are accused of bilking Insurance Companies out of 20 million. Claire risoldi is at the center of the scheme along with four family members and two associates are charged with setting three fires at the buckingham mansion over a period of five years to scam Insurance Companies. Authorities say the family also accused the firefighters of stealing jewelry during the last fire in 2013. I knew my guys didnt take anything out of the house, but we were accused. He says he was relieved authorities cleared the Midway Volunteer Fire Company of any wrongdoing. Now look at this investigators seized 7 million in assets from the risoldis including a million in jewelry, six ferraris two rolls royces one ford mustang cobra and four other cars. We are watching things change to the south. This morning well start with sunshine and this afternoon, but tonight a noreaster arrives with accumulating snowfall to start with. A brief period of sleet and freezing rain. Then its a cold rain that will be falling for much of the day on saturday. The changeover likely takes place before sunrise tomorrow. Right now just cold outside. 20s and now teens in Atlantic City. Atlantic city, 19 degrees. The windchill is not an issue this morning. And with clear sky, well see a lot of sunshine. Once it is up after 7 00 brilliant sunshine is going to warm us to near 40 degrees this afternoon. But well be keeping a close eye on the radar for what you see to the south. This rain is moving in to tennessee, kentucky and the carolinas. Thats the noreaster thats going to be here tonight. The clouds are increasing late this afternoon to 4 00 5 00 6 00, well see high clouds. By 8 00 cloudy skies. By 9 00 to 10 00, the snow will be fanning. First in delaware and parts of south jersey. Salem county it will be a little bit before philadelphia. But by 10 00, the snow is coming down in the city and quickly spreading to the north and west. At 11 00 tonight, trenton will see the snow. But to the south we have warmer air that this noreaster is going to drag in with it. So even though well start with snow its going to changeover to rain first in delaware and south jersey. At 2 00 saturday morning, early in the morning it will still be snowing in philadelphia an areas to the north. But thats a line of sleet and freeszing freezing rain. This will push to the north and then at 5 00 in the morning, you can see the snow is still coming down in the Lehigh Valley. This is where im expecting to see 3 to 6 inches of snowfall accumulation before some rain mixes in. While its mainly rain in philadelphia, by 5 00 in the morning. Then well see one to three inches on the ground in philadelphia to make for a slushy mix. During the day rain continues for philadelphia and snow will mix with rain off to the north and west. And then were going to see the rain coming to an be end late on saturday and moving out of here. So the forecast for today doesnt look bad at all. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 40s. The rain and the snow and the sleet and the potential for freezing rain will come in overnight tonight. But it will start as snow for philadelphia and the i95 corridor. You mentioned that potential for freezing rain and fresh on our minds is what happened last sunday morning when the roads were just a mess after that freezing rain came through. Is this better in this case that the freezing rain is coming after the snow . Well, the problem with last week was that if its completely dry, then we get freezing rain its a sheet of ice. This is going to be snow. So accumulating snowfall. We could see sleet or a brief period of freezing rain, but its not going to create the ice we had last week. Its falling onto snow so a much better scenario. But well still deal with snow and messy conditions. And it will be tough to get around late tonight and into tomorrow morning. But good news in the last ten minutes i can see some progress because we did have a tow truck and the Emergency Responders that were into the righthand lane of 76 eastbound trying to correct that. But things look like they have been cleared. So thats not official yet. I have to get back to my computer to double check, but from what i am seeing traffic looks to be moving smoothly on the onramp past what was the accident scene. So in upper gwynedo, we have an accident blocking part of Sumneytown Pike. On the westbound side for trains between 40th street and 15th street, expect delays on the line on the westbound side. El paso saw several inches of snow and up to a foot in other areas of the western panhandle. 6 15 now. The house passed legislation to tighten federal restrictions on abortions. The bill would ban federal funds for any abortion coverage. It would also block tax credits for people and businesses that buy Health Insurance to cover abortions. The white house has warned that president obama will veto the bill. Yesterdays vote came hours after Republican Leaders abandoned another bill banning most lateterm abortions. Now at the same time as the vote took place, tens of thousands of activists rallied in washington for the march of life. The 42nd anniversary of roe versus wade that legalized abortion throughout the country. Rescue crews struggling with communication problems while trying to save people on a washington subway filling with smob. A Drexel University graduate died in that fire. The officials had trouble using radios as the fire officials made changes to the system without telling the subway officials. More than 80 others were hurt. An electrical problem filled to the smoke filling the subway cars. A teen girl beaten up on a philadelphia trolley is talking about the man she says attacked her all because she kept bumping into him with her backpack. It was all caught on video. Take a look. [ bleep ]. Cell phone video captured the scuffle on the crowded 15 trolley wednesday morning. The guy in the black hat can be seen punching the 17yearold. After complaining that her bookbag kept bumping into him, she admitted that she ignored him when he made the complaints. The girl didnt want us to use her full name but shay talked to us about what happened. And i hit him at the same time. He hit me three or four times in the face. And i have a broken nose and a black eye. Now she told us she may eventually need surgery. Police are checking septa security cameras to track down the man who punched her. 6 17. Looking at the 42 freeway between route 55 and the walt whitman bridge five minutes in both directions. Speaking of bridge, the walt, betsy betsy, commodore barry, all the speed restrictions in place this time yesterday because of the weather, they have since lifted. Moving into pennsylvania there is an issue in plymouth township, ridge pike and chemical road traffic lights are out. Its a major intersection creeping into the thick of the morning rush. So police are out there directing traffic. For mass transit riders in philadelphia to take septa, the market frankford line, if youre boarding the train between 40th street and 15th street board on the westbound side. Thats at philadelphia international. And there are teens around this morning. The numbers have been dropping under clear skies in the teens and the pocano mountains where camelback is making snow. It will be all snow from the coming noreaster in the pocano mountain, but the rest of the area will see a mix from snow to rain. 26 degrees in philadelphia. Wilmington, 26 degrees. Look at the cold temperatures in Delaware County 22 degrees there in swarthmore. A cold start with a lot more sunshine today before this arrives tonight. Its all rain in the south, but when it arrives here its a noreaster arriving into cold air. So it will be accumulating snowfall. At 9 00 the snow moves into the area. By late this evening, 11 00, an inch of snow on the ground in philadelphia. By early tomorrow morning, 2 00 in the morning more than two inup ches on the ground in philadelphia. It will be accumulating quickly and will continue to accumulate north and west by the time this one moves out. Were looking at three to five inches farther north and west for the Lehigh Valley and into reading. One to three inches will become a slushy mess for much of the day on saturday. Because we have a cold rain falling after the snow is already on the ground. So a sunny day today but tonight is when the noreaster moves in. Well see it during the late evening hours. Snow to start with and then sleet and then rain. And most of this will be rain during the day, 37 degrees. The changeover takes place before sunrise on saturday. Sunday will be dry. Clouds and sunshine 39 after a cold start. Then a shot of snow with a colder day on monday. Lit just be snow with temperatures in the 20s on up monday.
