Well right now, part of a philadelphia street is shut down after the front of a row home crumbled to the ground overnight. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live along south bouvier street at point breeze. Look at the rubble thats left behind. What happened, katy . Yeah, in the aftermath, the family two families living by the partial collapse on bouvier street they were forced out on the street. There was fear their adjacent homes would be damaged. They have to wait until entering until an engineer can come and inspect the home and make sure its safe. An lni inspector inspecting the scene overnight tell me the house has been a hazard for several weeks. Thats why the city put up this large fencing on the sidewalk around it in case debris came down. Neighbors tell me that is exactly what happened overnight. The front bricks and Foundation Came falling down after the rain we had rolled in giving neighbors here quite a scare. I was actually in the shower and i heard like a loud crash. I thought it was a car crash but i came outside and the whole house collapsed. Reporter again, it seems like the weather we had overnight, the rain that came in, that come pro meesed the foundation which was clearly already compromised. New overnight, one man is dead two others wounded in a shooting in north philadelphia. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live at Temple University hospital where the two survivors are recovering. What are Police Working on with this investigation . Reporter well neighbors, cameras, those two surviving victims, vai, those are the three elements police hope will lead them to some answers. Overnight the 3100 block of north 6th street. The gunfire started just after 12 30 this morning. Officers were patrolling the area when they heard a series of gunshots. They found three victims on the ground. All of them rushed to temple hospital. Two are stable and one is dead. They have found three dozen spent casings of two different caliber. We know there were a lot of shots fired. We found 32 spend shell casings on the highway at the intersection of 6th and clear street ashtd also on the sidewalk and on the street. Reporter police tell us that detectives intend to speak with surviving victims this morning. They are in their early 20s. They are being held asus sperkts because of the amount of fire power found at the scene. There was no identification on him and so far no arrests. Continue to get updates on the story. Philadelphia police want residents of one neighborhood to be on a lookout after a woman was abducted and sexually assaulted on the way to would. This is a sketch of the man that grabbed the victim at gun point at york and emerald, forced her into a van and sexually assaulted her. I was like in my doorway acting like he lived here. When the lady walked by he grabbed her. Police say that the victim did not know her attacker. They say the van used in the assault is an early 1990 dodge or chrysler mini van with no rear seat. A south jersey teen takes the witness stand against his biological parents at a military trial. Theyre accused of neglecting their three foster children. They lived in Burlington County at the time of their arrest. John jackson is living with a foster family. He said his parents often userd bible passages to justify hitting the toddlers with a paddle, stick, other tools. He said one passage a couple quoted reads foolishness is bound up in the heart of the child but the rod of correction will drive it out. Prosecutors say along with beating the foster children, they denied them food and water. We have new information on a deadly shooting case in camden. A man convicted of gunning down an Afghanistan War veteran could face up to 70 years in prison. Yesterday they found darryl chrone guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the death of loper. He was trying to break up a fight in 2013 when he was shot to death. Sentencing set for june 18th. Unionized nurses will support a bill calling for a minimum nurse to patient ratio. The unions say that the bill will protect both caregivers and patients. Nurses plan to rally at the state capital later this morning. Also today pennsylvanias u. S. Senators will unveil a bill that will cut the back log at va hospitals across the country. The bipartisan measure will be outlined on capitol hill. The schuylkill expressway you looked at no problems on the blue route but heading out the doorway, elwin road is closed due to downed polls. You want to take route 1 to get by vai. Katy this house has already been deemed a hazard. Vai right. I checked with one of the building inspectors and they say this property is slated to be demolished because its been deemed to be an imminent danger. What youre looking at here the front of the house that was missing, that was not part of any planned demolition. That just happened overnight. Neighbors tell me the overnight rain came through and then soon after that the bricks on the front of the house became so unsteady they fell to the ground as did some of the foundation. Now the fence thats out here on the front of the sidewalk has been here for several weeks. The city put it down in case the area came down. No one was inside the house when it happened. No one has been living here for several weeks. Fortunately, no one was injured on the sidewalk when the bricks came crumbling down. Two homes to the left, the families had to be evacuated. Fortunately one of the families has been let back inside. The one who lives next door lni will not let her in because its just been deemed too unsafe for her to enter. As i speak, there is a member of a construction crew who was called out here. Im told he has been working with the owner and he is under the impression that the owner will have them take down this house today completely demolish it. The gunfire broke out on north sixth street just after 12 30 this morning. Officers were patrolling the air you when they heard a series ever kbungun shots. Medics rushed them to the hospital. One is dead two survivors are in stable condition. Police are holing them as suspects because they found three guns near the shooting scene joompt happening today lawyers will make their statement in the case of a levittown man who is accused of killing a doctor. She was attacked in her center city home after she complained about his extermination service. She was a pediatrician at Childrens Hospital in philadelphia. Investigators say after smith strak ld her, he started a fire to try to hide the murder. Police got their break in the case when Surveillance Video showed smith walking near her house in center city. Police are hoping thatd public can help them catch the person responsible for an abduction and Sexual Assault in one philadelphia neighborhood. Investigators are also issuing an alert this morning for any females who go to work before sun sunrise. Heres what they tell us. A 20yearold said last friday she was snatched off a fish town street and sexually assaulted. Svu investigators believe that victim was forced into this mini van you see here captured by a surveillance camera in the 2000 block of east york street. Police want you to take a look at this 1990s dodge or chris lore mini van. They believe it was driven by the sexual predator. The victim helped the police with the sketch of her attacker. She also told police he pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at her, then forced her into the mini van. He drove her to an unknown location forced her to undress, point of gun, and then she was sexually assaulted. She was inside the van with the male for about an hour. Reporter now the victim also told police she was released ten blocks away near boston and almond streets. Police say the unknown suspect is between 21 and 25 years of age, 57 to 510 and weighs about 160 pounds. Now in the next half hour were going to tell you how some women in the community are now handling their morning commute. Its definitely an investigation well be following. Happening today the new Jersey Supreme Court will begin deciding if governor Chris Christie broke the law by slashing the states payment into the pension system. The justices will hear arguments involving more than 1 billion christie slashed from this years payment. The state is appealing this when the governor diverted the funds to fill a deficit. Yesterday state officials announced they expect to collect the extra revenue between now and the end of june. The state treasurer said hell testify about the revenue projections before a Senate Budget panel later this month. In the philadelphia ris for mayor, we are less than two weeks away from the primary. The Democratic Candidates faced off last night. They discussed the Police Departments relationship with citizens and whether they would keep Police Commissioner charles ramsey. Within the hour french aviation authorities released a preliminary report on the germanwings plane crash. The report says that the pilot who eventually took down the flight, the copilot set the altitude to 100 feet five separate times on another flight previously in that day of the deadly wreck. The report also says the pilot was out of the cockpit at the time. So basically the copilot had practiced his plan before he crashed the flight later that day. Andreas lubitz is suspected of deliberately crashing that plane in the alps killing all 150 people on board. Authorities in germany arrested four people accused of founding an Extremist Group to attack mosques. Police conducted raids and they said the suspects also planned to attack housing provided for people seeking asylum and they gathered explosives for those possible attacks. Happening today, the head of the faa will unveil two new initiatives on drones in atlanta. He will announce initiatives to safely mandate Unmanned Aircraft into the busiest air space. Speaker singer elton john will speak in washington. Hes there on behalf of the elton johns aids foundation. Hes pushing them to continue funding hiv and aids programs. Ferry service to cuba is one step closer. The move is in line with the administrations desire to normalize relations between the u. S. And cuba. The cuban government has not commented on the move. And the french flotilla that had been docked in cuba is sailing towards the florida keys. Its made up of 14 boats. It left france last october and arrived in cuba in early april. The flotillas visit to cuba comes at a time when cuban relations with the European Union and the United States have improved. French president Francois Hollande will travel later this month. Leah still will celebrate her 6th birthday at the hospital having a stem cell transplant. She looks ready to fight. He says leahs cancer is in remission. Shes getting chemotherapy to destroy any possible cancer cells still in her body. The stem cell transplant will help her rebuild new cells. Leah was diagnosed with cancer last june. Weve been following her treatment. She got treatment at c. H. O. P. This was her a few weeks ago scoring a touchdown at temples spring football game. Researchers found that the average american gets nearly 7 hours of sleep a night which is less than the eight hours recommended by the experts. 40 of people report getting less than four hours of restful sleep. One possible reason for sleepless nights, more than half the people say they use Electronic Devices in bed. Heres how our area ranks when it comes to getting the most sleep. Its very interesting. Pennsylvania that state came in 26th with people getting an average of 6. 7 hours of sleep. Just fewer than half say they dont get enough sleep. 53 use Electronic Devices in bed. Police in california are hoping to pick up clues from City Surveillance cameras to find the person responsible for poisoning more than a dozen sea lions. Investigators say that person snuck into the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in laguna beach and dumped chlorine into the water system. 17 sea lions were being treated there. They were given a clean bill of health. They were scheduled to be released but now theyre being treated with sores on their eyes. 6 49. Philadelphia police is laying out its plans for the popes visit to the city. Charles ramsey tells us the departments Homeland Security unit will coordinate with the vatican and Police Personnel will travel to meet with the popes staff next month.
