This is an excited crowd, a crowd that is eager to show their support for a team that is 70 for the first time in school history. Tonight is going to be very chilly one, look at the lows by tomorrow morning, down to 31 degrees in allentown, 32 in pottstown, even 38 degrees right in philadelphia. So were starting out the weekend on the cold side. Well see how it warms up and if theres any rain ahead with the seven day in a few minutes. We have new information this afternoon in this violent brawl outside an allentown school, police making arrests now after students turned on the officers during this fight. Nbc 10s keith jones is live in our digital operations center. Keith, you start beating up Police Officers, good bet there are going to be arrests. Thats right, five students so far arrested. Allentown police say they arrested three yesterday and two more today. This is cell phone video of the fight that broke out outside Allen High School yesterday afternoon. More than 100 teens were involved. They tried to break up the brawl but sources tell us the officers quickly became the targets. A female officer was pulled to the ground by her hair and punched in the face. Police say a group of students surrounded her and began taking part in the assault. A total of four Police Officers were hurt in the fight. We spoke to a witness. All run down 12th street from that way. Cops were chasing them. One cop on foot running behind. And thats it was crazy. Two of the officers hurt were taken to the hospital. They have since been released. The School District says it is working with police on this investigation. Detectives are hoping the video posted online will help them identify even more of those suspects. Live in the digital operations center, keith jones, nbc 10 news. We have new video this afternoon taken onboard a school bus in newcastle county, delaware. That woman you heard was working as a substitute driver yesterday. The students on the bus attend Everett Mathis middle school in middletown and today School District Officials Say the way that driver spoke to those students has prompted them to take action. The district tells nbc 10 we are incredibly disappointed in the drivers behavior and have taken steps to ensure that this individual will not drive for our district again. The district says it is also notifying parents about the situation. 20 minutes of nonstop news continues now with breaking news in west philadelphia. Sky force 10 here over the scene where a Police Officer broke his foot when he was run over by another officers cruiser. Nbc 10s Harry Hairston live on the ground. Harry, do we know how this officers doing right now . Reporter the latest we have on the officer is he is in stable condition at Presbyterian Hospital with a broken foot, hes expected to be okay other than that. Now they are not releasing much information about the officer, all we can tell you at this point is he is a veteran officer, they are waiting to make sure all of his family members have been notified. Listen, as you said, this officer was chasing someone after they broke a window to a car. Actually three car windows. Youre looking at the video right now, it all started about 1 30 at 53rd and spruce. What were being told is the Police Officer saw the man get out of his own vehicle, get over to the suv and smash three separate windows with a baseball bat. The officers started giving chase, his partner in a police car was giving a parallel chase, the two tangled and next thing you know the officer was hit by his own police car. Heres lieutenant walker. Plainclothes officer along with the offender tried to run around the car blocking the pathway, driving westbound on pine, they run into the street, the officer grabbed the assay le lant, go to the ground, runs over his leg, one of the two, which was the Police Officer. Reporter all right, now listen, heres the deal, the man weve been able to find out about him, he has been arrested but not formally charged yet. That is to happen later on this evening. He is a new york man. As soon as the formal arraignment takes place, well be able to find out what his identity is and also what his motive is. In south jersey a father just watching his sons football practice is recovering this afternoon after he was hit by gunfire. Ted greenberg live in the jersey shore bureau. Cant watch after School Sports without worrying about gunfire . Reporter pretty scary situation, jim, i just checked with pleasantville police. At this point theyve made no arrests and have no suspects. As soon as people started hearing those gunshots last night, frantic coaches told the kids on the field to drop to the ground. We hear like a pop, pop, pop. Reporter the bullet hit a man on the bleachers and del mar figueroas mini van parked across the street with his wife sitting in the drivers seat. Shes very lucky. There was two shooters, one from the back, one from the front. Reporter you can see people running in this Surveillance Video immediately after the shooting around 7 30 last night at fernwood and jefferson avenues in pleasantville, just feet from this youth football field where kids were practicing. A man watching his son play was shot in the shoulder. Theres nothing to indicate that the victim was anything other than an unfortunate bystander here at the game just like everybody else was. Reporter Police Believe the shooting followed an argument between two people who werent involved in the football practice. The first thing i said, my god, joker out there practicing. Reporter jesse heard the n gunshots from his house a couple blocks away. Extremely frustrating to know that these people have no regard for children. Reporter the dad who was shot is now out of the hospital. Police hope the public can help them figure out who the gunmen are. Theres no way this happened and theres not a large swath of people that know what happened or heard information. The mini van is nothing, that you can fix. Kill some kid, you know what i mean, youre talking about somebodys life. Reporter police tell me right after the shooting, one man was spotted riding away from the scene on a motorcycle or a motorized bike, but again at this point, theyve made no arrests. Live at the jersey shore bureau, im ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. Were continuing to keep up with the militarys efforts to recover that runaway blimp that crashed in central pennsylvania wednesday. Crews plan to remove the main body of the blimp tomorrow and it is no simple feat. A Pennsylvania Air National Guard chinook helicopter is said to lift the hull pieces out, carried to a new clearing loaded on to military vehicles and driven to an undisclosed government facility. Today another former mayor of philadelphia testified in the chaka fattah jr. Fraud trial. John street told a jury he hired fattah jr. As a photography consultant during his campaign. Rendell gave similar testimony yesterday. Fattah is aiming to show his business was legitimate. Asked me to come and explain his business relationship with us and our campaigns and activity, and i thought it was a fair thing to do. That would be former governor ed rendell. Federal prosecutors say fattah jr. Had a Shell Company which he used to fraudulently funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans to bankroll a luxurious lifestyle. Fattah jr. Is the son of congressman chaka fattah, who is married to nbc 10 anchor renee chenaultfattah. Police arrested a penn student accused of starting a fire in a fraternity house. The sophomore allegedly started the fire inside a closet at the house last friday. The Sprinkler System put it out and no one was hurt. Bonfiglio is from london and was released after posting 100,000 bail. Rider university is cutting more than a dozen academic programs and laying off more than 100 faculty and staff members, elimination of art and art history, advertising, business, philosophy, and web design. The cuts will save the school 2 million a year. Academic coordinators will help freshmen and sophomores evaluate their options. A Safe School Summit in Delaware County today focusing not on students, but on teachers. Members of the District Attorneys Office were on hand to tell teachers whats okay and whats not when it comes to interacting with students, especially on electronic devices. The message, if you have an inappropriate relationship or conversation with a student, you will be investigated and possibly arrested. No more drugs no more drugs these young students, parents, and staff from the william penn School District took part in this antidrug march. This annual event is in honor of National Red Ribbon week. For the first time in three decades, a bridge connecting manyunk and lower marion township is reopening. Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter and Montgomery County commissioner was among the dignitaries on hand to cut a ribbon officially reopening a former railroad bridge. The bridge will be open to pedestrians and cyclists as part of the circuit trails that includes the Schuylkill River trail. Recall here, Fiat Chrysler issuing suv recalls because of two separate safety issues. About half a million dodge journeys and fiat freemonts are being recalled because moisture can cause the antilock brake system to stop working. Also recalling more than 350,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and liberties from model years 2003 and 2004 because the airbags can inflate for no reason. In wilmington today, protesters march in memory of a man in a wheelchair. He was shot and killed by police. Delaware Bureau Reporter tim furlong is live in wilmington with what they want from police. Tim . Reporter thats right, jacqueline, the march began about 1 45 and marched all the way across wilmington. You can see its kind of wrapping up here in Rodney Square at this point. Been another violent year in the city of wilmington but these people are here to know what happened in one policeinvolved shooting. Ridiculous that they are still trying to lie about it. Reporter she says she wants to know why her brothers life ended like this. On september 23rd, Wilmington Police were called to a man in a wheelchair with a gun who had reportedly shot himself. They screamed to jeremy and when he appeared to reach for his waist, police shot and killed him. Today, more shouting, marchers walking across downtown wilmington demanding answers. Attorney Generals Office is investigating, some have called for a federal investigation, as well. Police havent released the names of the officers. They have said three of the officers were white and one was hispanic. Some in the community have already reached their own conclusions. That was wrong what happened that day. I didnt see anything how they approached it properly. Reporter others here say their patience is running out. They say they want the truth and they want it soon. The question we have to answer is what really happened, what were their procedures they took and the Community Needs answers. When a community doesnt have answers, they make decisions on their own. Reporter and as you come back live, it was really very peaceful today. I emailed the mayors office, the mayor said he supports the protesters and helped coordinate the march. Wilmington police helped block traffic but the chief did not come out and issue a statement, the attorney Generals Office does confirm they are still investigating and will release the information about that policeinvolved shooting as soon as it is readily available. We had clouds earlier today and we have a cold night ahead. We have the halloween and temple forecast coming up this weekend, and question about some rain by the end of the weekend and also into early next week. Thats about ten degrees colder than it was at this time yesterday, five to ten Degrees North and west and earlier today minus 18s there, so the temperatures starting to rebound a little bit. Had some fair weather clouds during the day today, they moved from north to south through the area, so we had a period of cloud cover and now things are clearing out. A lot of moisture down in the middle of the country. Question is, is some of that going to reach us for monday . The colder air, yeah, thats already in and with the clear skies and the wind diminishing, were going to be seeing temperatures drop into the 30s across just about the entire area and some places like in allentown are going to go down to the freezing mark.
