A 16yearold girl died in a brawl in the bathroom with two other students this morning. It happened in Howard High School of technology in wilmington as classes were beginning. We are live in wilmington with what started the fight and how the community is responding this afternoon. Reporter police now say witnesses are going to be interviewed well into the evening hours. They say theyve been conducted interviews trueing to figure out what led up to the girls death and how she died. She was involved in a fight in the girls bathroom and sustained serious injuries. It hurts when you know the person. Just out in the streets, like, could have been her. Reporter his organization, hope academy, worked with the 16yearold victim, set to volunteer this summer in youth programs. Good grades, very respectful. Reporter the victim was involved in a fight inside the girls bathroom around 8 15 this morning. School Officials Say there were two other girls fighting with the victim and they say that injuries sustained led to her death. Im really sad because this is school, like, i go here, and people are really not that bad here. Reporter for students inside the school, they were aware of what was going on, and others were on lock down for an hour before being sent home. Very sad, too much stuff going around. Reporter students have not been told much about the incident, but speculation among them is the fight was over a boy. Fight over a boy. I mean, thats kind of messed up. Reporter now, the mayor says it was an isolated incident, act of senseless violence, and says schools here are safe for students. Prosecutors say the 17yearold driver called 911 Tuesday Morning while parked outside pond road middle school in robbinsville telling dispatchers she believed her car hit someone. According to the investigators, the teenage girl hit and killed the superintendent and his dog. The girl was on her way to the high school for a class trip.
