But for some parents, tomorrow cant come soon enough, so they took kids out of school today. Ive called up there and got the runaround so i decided to do something myself. Reporter having his daughter sit in a stuffy classroom in south philly just didnt seem right to ron. She told me that the acs arent working well. Reporter almost 60 of the schools have air conditioning, and the ones that dont have fans running at full speed. But some parents wonder about the quality of the education on days like this. She told me its just too hot to study. Or to listen to the teacher. Everyone is irritated. The teachers are doing their best to keep the children comfortable. But when it gets to be this humid and hot out, you know, i think its best for everybody as a whole to let the children out early. Reporter thats the School Districts plan for friday, a noon dismissal. But rons daughter may very well be absent. She may not go at all tomorrow. Its supposed to be 90 in the morning. Now, tomorrows early dismissal includes all afterschool activities, like sports. That means football on friday is canceled. Students in reading getting a break from the heat. All middle schools dismissed at 12 15 today. Theyll do the same thing tomorrow because they dont have air conditioning. Some parents we spoke with, theyre not pleased. Working parents have to find a way to accommodate their children. Their parents probably cant even leave work, or leave work early to pick up their children. It is only readings middle schools that dont have ac. The other schools have it. No need for them to let out early. It was another day of shortened classes in trenton today as well. Schools there dismissed early for the second straight day. Theyll do the same thing tomorrow. The district has 22 schools, but not all of them have central air conditioning. This road and roads around it were absolutely jammed up because of it this morning. The calls went out around 2 00 a. M. A tractortrailer carrying thousands and thousands of unstamped pennies on its side and on fire, all over the highway which led to this call nobody wants to hear. Tractortrailer overturned. Reporter i95 north shut down completely for hours at the 295 split in new castle. The driver and passenger had minor injuries. Pretty brutal info on the traffic report. Lots of red lines on the traffic map. The guys who work at this bike store near christiana hospital it was a nightmare. Reporter shipments were delayed, customer traffic was minimal. Many delaware businesses couldnt even open on time. Although some businesses along the detour routes, they made out okay today. Everything was backed up. You know, for miles. As far as you could see. But three of the lanes were closed for some time while crews cleaned up. To the north, jury selection under way in the socalled bridgegate trial. Two associates of Chris Christie scheming to cause gridlock by closing lanes near the George Washington bridge. Prosecutors said they did it to get back at a local mayor who refused to endorse governor christie. Open statements are set for september 19th. He went from snatching purses to breaking into a house and opening fire in a matter of minutes. And this afternoon, Philadelphia Police say they have the man responsible for these crimes. According to officers, the suspect in this case busted through the front door of the house on oakmont street right around 11 00 last night. He ended up taking prescription drugs, and a computer. But only after hitting a man inside with his gun and then firing a shot into the floor. Police arrested the suspect not far away. They tell us that a woman later identified him as the man who stole her purse at gunpoint just down the street from a home invasion. Police say they have the man who stole a stash of guns from a shop four months ago. Officers caught up with Jabar Kendall in virginia. They say he broke into the suburban army Sporting Goods store back in may and took 19 guns. Delaware county authorities are now working to bring him back to pennsylvania. A main line college is reaching out to former Itt Technical Institute students who may be looking for a new school. Harkham college is offering up to 5,000 scholarships to itt tech students. A new poll out this afternoon shows Hillary Clinton and trump close in four critical swing states, including pennsylvania. The poll had clinton ahead here, and in north carolina. Trump leads in ohio, and its a dead heat in florida. And trump still insisting he opposed the war in iraq from the beginning, although Fact Checkers said that claim is false. Hundreds of decorative railings and gravestone posts and other items stolen this summer from cemeteries. A detective spotted the items outside a house owned by a local antiques dealer. That dealer said he bought the items from a man and a woman, but insists he didnt know they were stolen. Investigators now hope to hear from relatives of people buried in those cemeteries as they work to identify and return the items. If they can recognize it, tell us who it belongs to, where it goes, we would love to hear from you so we can put it back. The alleged cemetery thieves face several charges. The 15th anniversary of the 9 11 terror attacks is this sunday. And now an iconic image from that dark day is back at the World Trade Center site. An American Flag that firefighters hoisted at ground zero after the attacks is now on display at the september 11th museum in new york. The flags owner discovered it was missing when she went to donate it to the museum. Turns out it was turned in two years ago by an unidentified man at a firehouse in washington state. President obama will deliver remarks at a pentagon ceremony on sunday marking the anniversary of the 9 11 attacks. Nearly 3,000 people were killed on september 11th. 184 of them died when an American Airline jetliner slammed into the pentagon. A Company Expanding a recall for door latch issue.
