They said being in the classroom felt more like a toaster oven before the noon bell rang. It was really hard to concentrate because all you were thinking about was the heat. From the camden classroom to trenton, a number of districts erred on the side of student caution by closing early. If the bus wasnt running, my father took me. No excuses . None. Reporter now that were enduring three solid days of heat and humidity, they say their body temperature hasnt cooled off either. They had fans going. All the windows open. The New York Stock Exchange honored the nearly 3,000 victims of the september 11th attacks as well today. They held this moment of silence ahead of the opening bell to begin trading this morning. The World Trade Center attack happened just blocks from wall street, and the Stock Exchange was closed for several days after that tragedy. Reporter this Delaware County ceremony didnt just honor the 343 firefighters and 71 Police Officers killed in the september 11th attacks, the ceremony also honored those who still serve today, including officer Christopher Dorman shot seven times on june 24th. He heads back to work tonight. A proud day for him but still a tough day for so many. The chaplain went to ground zero right after the attack and helped out for months. Trooper alex douglas spent months in the hospital after the 2014 ambush outside the Blooming Grove barracks in the poconos. Eric freen was arrested for that shooting. Freen hid in the woods for almost 50 days before u. S. Marshals found him in an old airplane hangar in monroe county. Hes now awaiting trial. Bill cosbys lawyers are suggesting the Sexual Assault case against him is racially motivated. Specifically, theyre talking taking aim at gloria allred. These guys playing a little paddle ball right now. In some communities, though, theres a lot less beach than there was just a week ago. On this postlabor day friday, mario and Debbie Orlando of marlton found some relief from the late season heat, along the surf in beach haven. Actually, i thought it would be hotter than it was. With the breeze its pretty nice. Reporter they also discovered a much smaller and more rugged beach after waves fueled by hermine washed away a lot of sand last weekend. The erosion coming soon after a major beach protection and replenishment project here. It was much lighter. We were down here in late june. This beach was completely flat. It makes it feel so much hotter. 108 in audubon. 10 in piles grove. 106 in mount laurel. And in pemberton. Atco reading 113. I mean, these numbers are incredible. Weve got one more day of that. Kind of dry across much of the philadelphia area. And points to the south. We do have a few little light showers coming up through the poconos right noi. And perhaps a few more as we go through the night. The weekend, its going to be part steamy, but part comfortable. Were talking about that extreme heat and humidity tomorrow. But its going to be much, much different on sunday. Not only a tendegree drop in temperature, but were not going to have the high humidity. The humidity is going to be dropping during the day. So it will feel much, much more comfortable. The only place thats different is at the jersey shore, interestingly enough. Cooler on saturday than on sunday. Because theres a strong sea breeze tomorrow, and more of a land breeze on sunday. So things get a little bit reversed. But it will be less humid at the shore on sunday. So were close to the record levels for tomorrow. The record in philadelphia is 97. Predicting 96. Westchester close to a record. Millville beating a record. Weve got one more day of this. And the humidity, too. Feels like close to 100 across much of the area now. As we go through the night tonight, and into the morning, its feeling like 80s. To start the day. And then in the afternoon, feeling like 102 in philadelphia, 103 in trenton and burlington. 100 in dover. And then take a look at what happens. By sunday afternoon, at 3 30 p. M. , 82. Not 102, 82.
