Reporter is knife is being tested to see if the its connected to the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and ron goldman. They are going to study it and examine it for all forensicings. Reporter Police Confirm the story first reported by tmz that a former lapd cop recently turned the knife over to detectives. The Officials Say that officer claims he was working off duty on a movie shoot near simpsons former home 12 years ago when a construction worker gave him the knife. He claimed that an individual who claimed to be a construction worker provided him with this knife, claiming it was found on the property. Not guilty of the crime. Reporter a jury acquitted simpson of all charges in 1995, since then the case has remained open, the murder weapon has never been found and investigators are treating this discovery with skepticism. We need to, one, determine is this evidence, and if the its not evidence how do we prove one way or the other its not. The only way we can do that is by being able to challenge the people involved as to what where it was recovered, how long, where it was alleged to have been, et cetera. Reporter o. J. Mid30s for south jersey and delaware especially along the shore where we have more snow. So these numbers will be dropping as we go through tonight. In Chester County three High School Students are facing criminal charges after Authorities Say a hazing incident turned violent in a boys locker room. The allegations around the Football Team at conestoga high school. Three 17yearold Football Players held down a 14yearold and violated him with a broom handle. It happened on what the team allegedly called no gay thursday. The District Attorney says the investigation reveals a hazing culture that goes back years. Coaches were never in the locker room. The kids knew the locker room was theirs. The locker room was theirs to do what they wanted, when they wanted, and how they wanted. The head football coach has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. According to investigators the lapd became aware of the knife over the past month but may have been found several years ago. O. J. Simpson was acquitted of murder in the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson, his exwife, and Ronald Goldman, her friend, more than two decades ago. A jury later found him liable for their deaths. I spoke with a criminal defense attorney about todays revelation from the lapd and what it means in the case that is still making headlines. Concerns about contamination t testing is going to be dna, thats where the contamination concern comes in. See if the blood matches the victims. That could have been contaminated. The other testing is going to be the type of blade compared to the type of wound, to see if that would be a match. And that one wont have as much issues with contamination but the dna would have concerns about that. Double jeopardy absolutely attaches, he has been tried and acquitted by a jury of his peers, he cannot be tried again at this point even if more evidence comes out. I guess the only concern would be Public Perception if the people believe he might be innocent, but he cannot be tried again in a criminal court of law. But now tonight each with the light snow we had through the rest of the area we also have still some wet spots from it melting, so the threat of ice will be in the forecast with temperatures dropping below freezing then we have another weather system moving through the middle of this week, so early sunday morning we could see rain and ill show you the timing coming then we have a warmup coming next week, were going to be around 70 degree, and then even one day in the low 70s, really going to feel like spring next week. Were in the 30s north and west, mostly mid to upper 30s, 40 in philadelphia, mid 30s through much of south jersey and delaware. And all of these numbers are going to drop below freezing as we go through tonight. Look at the temperature trend. We get closer to 11 00 p. M. Right around freezing, then after that we keep going down to about the upper 20s, so this is really the time frame when we expect areas of ice to be forming from any wet sidewalks or wet roadways or any slushy areas that are still there that have not dried out from today.
