They say several terrorist groups, including isis, continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions, although there is no specific threat right now. This travel alert is in place just in time for the thanksgiving travel season, of course, and will last now until february. This means travelers should be extra vigilant and follow instructions from local authorities. Tonight were getting a rare glimpse at new security measures at the airport that are in place right now. Reporter meet kina, the 2yearold german shorthaired pointer, one of five k9 teams that will sniff out explosives working to keep you safe on your next flight out of philly international. Once they get out of the truck, they are working, their nose is always working, always sniffing the air. They are trained to pick up certain explosive material, and when they do, theyll react. Reporter the k9 initiative is a Pilot Program that began in 2011. Its now permanent. Youll see the dogs out there. I tell people dont be afraid of the dogs, we keep control of the dogs. Reporter youll see them mostly at tsa checkpoints. At the checkpoints youll see them, they may come up, sniff up and down. Reporter today with this demonstration, she simply sits when she smells something suspicious on a decoy. Handlers can read the behavior without a subject realizing a scent is detected. Something like a bakery or pastry shop or if you walk in, you would smell a pizza, these k9s could walk into a pizza shop and pick up on flour, on the tomato, on the basil, and on the mozzarella. New developments today in the terror in paris. Here is the latest today, an explosive belt was found in the same place a suspects cell phone was tracked on the day of the attacks. A street cleaner found that belt and a cell phone in a pile of rubble. About 90 minutes ago a paris official said the belt contained bolts and had the same explosives used in the attacks. Also today paris Police Released three alerts in english with pictures of suspects linked to the attacks. One of the suspects is now one of europes most wanted. And in belgium today, Police Arrested a fourth suspect in connection with with the paris attacks. Belgium will remain at a heightened terror alert, schools and the subway system will reopen on wednesday. Allentown has one of the largest syrian communities in the country. Today the mayor says his town will continue to welcome syrians with open arms and help them get sett settled. Doug shimell reports. The student at Moore College art and design was walking sunday night when a man grabbed her from behind, punched her several times. After he couldnt get the bag away from her, he ran towards logan square. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She said she didnt even realize she was stabbed until the suspect ran away. New at 6 00, a south jersey contractor is accused of hitting a customer with a hammer and dousing him with lighter fluid. This morning Police Arrested jason brad. Police say he showed up to Computer Tech to collect money for work he said he did. He got into an argument and thats when police say he doused his victim and hit him several times with a hammer. Firefighters rescued a cat from a house fire this afternoon. Sky force 10 was above the scene of the fire, which broke out on the second floor of a home on elmwood avenue. Crews got it under control quickly and rescued the cat right from the roof. The animal has been turned over to the spca. A thanksgiving budget is looking unlikely in harrisburg tonight. The budget is almost five months overdue, putting schools and social services in a cash crunch. Today Governor Tom Wolf said the framework of both sides is in peril. We have not made progress, so to me, that signifies we have a problem. Nbc 10 checked with the Republican House leaders office, they tell us they still consider that framework active. Philadelphia students and their parents are calling on Governor Tom Wolf to help restore low income scholarships. They protested outside the Governors Office in philadelphia. Theres a restriction preventing companies from using tax credits to fund the scholarships because of the budget battle. The group claims the entire state could lose 150 million, which benefits more than 45,000 scholarships. You could end up paying more taxes if you live in one bucks county town. Bensalem proposed a 1 earned income tax. The vote goes before the council on december 7th. If you dont work but collect Social Security or a pension, you wont have to pay it, and if you live in bensalem and work in philadelphia, you already pay the tax and wont pay anymore.
