Also backed him up saying that the president did not ask him to drop the entire russia investigation. But director comey, former director comey, did admit right here to date that he took a pretty unusual step to get his message out. Why did you want a special counsel . Reporter the former fbi director leaving capitol hill to more questions now after telling he arranged to get information to the press to prompt a special counsel and that he hopes there are tapes of his conversations with the president.
