Matt, what can you tell us . Tracy and rosemary, some 5,000 Union Members have threatened to walk off the job. That could leave bus stations like the Wissahickon Transportation Center empty. Members of the transport Workers Union arrived in large numbers for a midday vote yesterday, unanimously deciding to walk off the citys subways, trolleys and buses on november 1st if a deal is not reached by then. The big concern is that workers will be stranded and looking ahead to the election. Election day is november 8th. Voters may not be able to get to transportation to get to their polling place. I wont vote. I wont vote. You know, im not going to try to inconvenience somebody to come and get me unless the polling places want to send people out. Its important to do what you have to get done. Reporter septa workers narrowly avoided a strike two years ago. The some of the sticking points remain today, including pension equi equity, Better Health care benefits and more consistent work schedules. The union claims managers are getting special treatment. They tell themselves they deserve more and we deserve less. Were not again to tolerate that. Septa spoding with a statement, while we hope the union does not exercise its right to strike, we are focusing on reaching a new contract thats in the best interest of our riders, employees and stakeholders. Theres no word yet on any contingency plans if a strike does actually happen on november 1st. Regional rail would not be affected because they are represented by a different union. New this morning, Philadelphia Police are searching through Surveillance Video looking for evidmnbe after a teen was shot to death in kensington. Police were also talking to neighbors about what they saw and what they heard. A portion of rose hill street was taped off as people sat on their stoops watching the investigation. This is around midnight. This is where police say a 19yearold man was found dead on sidewalk after being shot in the back of the head. Police are still looking for the shooter. Meantime, also in philadelphia, a man is dead after robbers shot him on f street in lawncrest. The victim told him he was coming home from shopping when the two men held him up. They shot the victim at point blank range before taking off. Detectives are looking at security video from nearby businesses. Now to news from our jersey shore bureau, Atlantic City faces a deadline today in its budget crisis. Published reports say the city must submit a revised spending plan to avoid a state takeover. Atlantic citys Council Introduced a budget in august that was less than the previous years but called for millions of dollars in transitional aid from the state. New jersey Officials Say they have concerns with that plan. Happening today, philadelphia lawmakers want to crack down on tobacco use by teenagers. Theyre looking for your input at a public hearing. Tracy, rosemary, city lawmakers are hoping to change the rules and regulations when it comes to the sale of tobacco in the city. Heres what theyre asking the public to weigh in on later today. The city plans to increase the tobacco permit fees from 50 to 300. The money generated from that will be used to hire more inspectors that will work to keep Tobacco Products away from minors. And there are big penalties for those who violate the law by selling to underage teens. Businesses caught selling tobacco to minors, three times in two years lose their tobacco license for a year. The city is working with the Health Commissioner and child advocates group to help make these changes to protect teens, especially in lowincome communities. To end the scourge that if you live in north philly, if you live in southwest philly, kensington, you are twice as likely to be subjected by predatory marketing as a teen by big tobacco. And a final decision will be made at some point after tonights hearing. New details this morning about a shooting on the campus at Lincoln University that landed a Security Guard in the hospital. Heres what we know. Pennsylvania state Police Say Six or seven men tried to rob two other men on the Chester County campus early yesterday morning. One of the victims got into his car, tried to run the group of robbers over. Thats when one of the robbers took out a gun, started shooting. The guard is expected to be okay. In a statement on the schools website, the University Says students are safe and none of the people involved were students. Today philadelphia schools will be getting more money for school supplies. Superintendent william hite will announce an award of 167,000 from office depot for supplies and related items. The School District is marking a 15year partnership with that company. The tractortrailer has been removed as well as the other vehicle. They have cones out. Thats because there was a fuel spill or an oil spill in place after this accident scene was pretty much removed. Now a lot of cleanup under way. With this being closed right now and potentially into the beginning of what would be rush hour were hoping thats not the case but youll need an alternate. The schuylkill expressway eastbound, maybe further into south philadelphia where you need to ak is he another part of the schuylkill expressway, make a left at the 34th street bridge, head to wharton street and take the schuylkill expressway eastbound ramp that way. If youre leaving from another area and coming from the schuylkill expressway eastbound and dont really necessarily need to hit the schuylkill, maybe heading to 95, take the vine street expressway eastbound ahead to 95 southbound that way or northbound.
