A woman is in Critical Condition this morning after police say a patrol car hit her in philadelphias kensington neighborhood. Police were working on a separate investigation at a park yesterday afternoon when the accident happened. As an officer was backing up. Officers rushed her to the hospital. The aftermath was like, wow, shocking all the blood that i seen. The accident remains under investigation. New from overnight, Philadelphia Police want to know who shot a man on his porch. The suspect came out of nowhere and shot the victim several times before running off. The victim was rushed to the hospital. Also new from overnight, a highprofile congressional race in georgia is heading to a runoff. Democrat jon ossoff will go against Republican Karen Handel in the june 20th election. If convicted, he could face the death penalty. Today the man accused of murdering a Corner Grocery store owner faces arraignment. Maurice green is charged with shooting marie buck 11 times last year. Hes the Camden County father charged with murdering his son brendon in 2015, allegedly because the child got in the middle of his relationship with a teen girlfriend. Police have seized or confiscated 100 guns since january. A new medical initiative in south jersey will help military members and their families at joint base maguire dix lakehurst. The hero Care Connect Program is a joint effort from Cooper University health and the heart and lung center. It will give active duty military families, retiree, and veterans access to more than 75 medical services that are not available on the base. It takes just one call to our specially trained team to get patients connected to the care that they need. The plan will also significantly cut down wait times for appointments and offer Services Much closer to veterans homes. In the Lehigh Valley, turkey hill wants to sell beer at one of its stores in North Hampton county. The board of supervisors approved a Liquor License for a turkey hill mini market. The company will need approval from the state liquor control board. More stores are starting to sell beer locally. In february, the wawa added beer coolers to its store. A new lawsuit stemming from that deadly prison standoff in delaware pins the blame on two former governors. Prison guards who survived the 18hour standoff at Vaughn Correctional Center gathered publicly for the first time yesterday to announce the lawsuit. It claims former governors jack marquel and ruthann minner ignored requests to beef up staffing. It says the state continued using excessive overtime rather than hiring more officers. Also charged that these policies were hidden from our elected representatives in the general assembly. They never knew what was going on. The family of lieutenant steven floyd who was killed in the standoff also attended yesterday. A criminal investigation into who killed him continues. Change is coming to the Philadelphia Fire Department after a federal report about the death of firefighter joyce craig. Yesterday philadelphias fire commissioner, adam teal, announced that his Department Still has plenty of work to do to prevent a similar tragedy. Teal says the department now sends more people to fire calls. They have dedicated safety officers at fire scenes, and the department ended brownouts, the controversial system of closing fire stations. More work needs to be done. The training that we need to do, we need dedicated training staff. We need dollars. Craig died after making a mayday call while fighting a fire in middleton street back in 2015. The federal report blamed her death on faulty equipment and Communications Breakdowns at the fire scene. And philadelphias Police Commissioner painted a grim picture of what it would be like if the city loses federal funding because of its sanctuary city status. Commissioner richard ross presented his budget to city council yesterday explaining that federal funding could play a big part in policing. Earlier this year, ross and other Police Chiefs met with attorney general Jeff Sessions in washington to discuss Violent Crime in americas cities. The chief made a special appeal that Police Departments in cities should not be penalized over the sanctuary cities debate. It would be a profound, significant mistake.
