New from overnight in philadelphia robbery suspect is dead after a homeowner opened fire, killing the man at his front door. Katy zachry is live for us at the scene along reed street. The police think they have a motive for this. Reporter yeah, vai, a number of things revealed to us early on in this investigation. Police say it started with a man who had a gun and walks through this front door, announcing it was a robbery. Now, police say once inside the house the homeowner on the other side of the door shot him twice, killing him on the living room floor. There were two other people in the house at the time who also had guns. Police and medics arrived, soon after this shooting. Medics worked on him, did cpr, attempted to revive him. However, the victim never regained consciousness. Reporter police say they found drugs and money and packaging material inside this house. They think the intruder may have been motivated by that and after those items. The homeowner and the two women who live here police say all three were armed with guns and they are right now being questioned by officers about the deadly shooting as well as the drugs and money and packaging material found inside the home. A man and his girlfriend are charged with killing a neighborhood block captain they worked with and befriended. Police say 50yearold James Cheever beat kathy wilson to death in her home on friday. Cheevers girlfriend jane johnson was the alleged mastermind. According to investigators robbery was the motive. Police tell us the couple split the cash taken from the victims home. Got in under the premise of cleaning her house, once inside they demanded her money. She had it hidden. Police recovered the stolen money last night. They discovered the victims body yesterday morning when they say johnson alerted police that her friend might be dead. Both suspects are now charged with robbery and murder. Crews will be out later this morning to fix a broken water main that flooded a street. Sky force 10 brought you these images last night at 11 00. Nbc 10 also brought you video of the gusher at ground level. The 12inch main ruptured in the middle of east cayuga street. Crews had to pry open Manhole Covers to get to the valve and cut off the water. It wasnt until residents tried to take showers or wash dishes they realized the water was turned off. Very inconvenient. My grand children live with me, so we have seven in my house. So its inconvenient. Water interruption impacted more than a dozen homes. It will stay closed until crews fix the main. Two students from George Washington high school are facing aggravated Assault Charges after allegedly beating up their teacher. According to police two mail students held brian swift while another hit him multiple times. We spoke to swift. He has a concussion, a swollen jaw and bruised ribs. Swift threatened to call police after a student went into his class, began to question and harass a female student and rummage through her bag for a cell phone. The district has hired a climate manager as they call it who will soon arrive to help enforce new rules. From our delaware bureau, jurors will continue in the trial of a dove ter Police Officer accused of breaking a suspects jaw. The dash cam video shows officer Thomas Webster kicking dickerson during an arrest in august 2013. Webster testified that he intended to kick dickerson in the upper body, not his head and that he feared for his safety. Prosecutors say webster acted recklessly and used excessive force. The antimuslim back lash appears to have made its way to philadelphia. Someone threw a pigs head at a local mosque.
