So, the northeast wind is going to help keep things cloudy and cool, only low 70s by 2 00 this afternoon. Thats about as high as its going to get. Well see if its going to warm up later in the week with the sevenday in a few minutes. Glenn, right now were on the schuylkill expressway where we have an accident scene around glad win on the westbound side. So we can see this Police Activity in here. Not allowing traffic to move by. So we have a backup in there and now 35 minutes on the westbound side from the vine street expressway up to the blue route and thats about a 13 minute trip or so. Were adding on a good amount of time. This is the backup behind that accident on 95 south bound around cottman avenue. A little ways around around academy, slow going, traffic barely moving. We do have two lanes open on the right side of that accident so they are allowing traffic to get by but we have a huge backup and this drive time is also about up to 35 minutes now. So were adding on 25 minutes to the morning commute when you head out the door. More on these accidents when i come back in the next ten. Thank you. Were 24 hours away from the start of the world meeting of families but today the influx of people is expected to begin. Katy zachry is live at Philadelphia International airport. 50,000 people expected to attend events leading up to the popes visit. And when the pope gets here, katy, theres expected to be over a million people. Its going to ramp up today. Reporter and vai, those people who work at the airport, employees are keenly aware of the numbers you laid out because so many visitors will be flying into philadelphia. I considered staying here overnight getting a hotel. Everything is full. Reporter its the week Philadelphia Hotels and restaurants have been gearing up for. For months now. I learned that some concierges are working with restaurants, since this summer, to secure tables so that their hotel guests have a place to eat. This week during the world meeting of Families Convention and for this weekend for the papal visit. At the airport, a spokeswoman says staff will be working with event volunteers to welcome visitors beginning today. One of once those visitors get in they will see a city bustling with excitement and preparation. We have a lot of new specials were doing this weekend that are great, we anticipate a really busy thrill both weekends, this weekend and next weekend. Reporter here at the airport staff is expecting to see an increase in the number of septa riders. More are expected to come to the airport this weekend just to ride septa out of center city philadelphia. Pope francis continues his historic visit to cuba today. Firefighters were busy battling a fire in south philadelphia. Flames started on the first floor of this house on fourth and dickenson and around 3 15 this morning crews got the fire under control and no one was hurt. No one was injured in this crash on i76 overnight. This was the scene on the schuylkill expressway near girard avenue after a tractortrailer and a car collided in the westbound lanes. Investigators say the car was pinned under the truck and caught fire. The flames eventually spread to the trailer. The westbound lanes as you saw were closed while crews cleared the scene and traffic was backed up. But the flalanes are back open. Employees believe a motorcycle gang is behind a shooting that killed a man and injured three others yesterday. Gun fire broke out after 6 00 at the tanger ray tavern on pratt street. Witnesses spotted more than a dozen motorcycles leaving the scene. Our camera captured a number down on the ground. Some of the victims were brought to the hospital wearing jackets with the logo of a Motorcycle Club wheels of soul. Bikes parked down there. There is one on its side. A 34yearold man died in the shooting. We dont know his name yet. Police say at least two of the victims are in Critical Condition including the suspect. Philadelphia police are hoping that surveillance photos will help them find a missing 12yearold girl who recently had surgery to remove a brain tumor. Cameras captured these images of Stanaya Blackwell at 30th street station yesterday afternoon. She boarded a septa train headed for warminster. She got on another train headed back to philadelphia a short time later. Blackwell was reported missing after she wandered away from her church in north philadelphia. She suffers from seizures and memory loss because of her recent brain surgery. If you think you have seen her, call police. This Morning Police are searching for an atv rider who hit a Police Captain and never stopped. It happened in the bridesburg neighborhood around 5 00 yesterday. Investigators tell us that the captain is it okay and did not need medical treatment. The atv rider was last seen traveling on richmond street. Anybody with information is asked to call police. Well, the clouds have moved in overnight as were getting the sun rise. You can see the sun in the distance. And a lot of clouds out there. They are very high up in the atmosphere, though, and not producing rain close by. At least not yet. Temperatures cooler than it was yesterday. In the 50s. 54 in allentown, and pottstown, 55 in mount holly. And 63 in dover. You can see all of the clouds across the area and couple of showers approaching washington, but the bigger area of rain is in southwestern virginia and our direction. The computer models are not handling this and suggesting just a lot of clouds around. Maybe a couple of showers but there are other computer models that suggest showers coming in programs even for the afternoon rush. And then more tonight and even tomorrow. So we have mostly cloudy skies, definitely cooler than yesterday when we hit 80 degrees. We have a chance of showers, especially in delaware and other southern and western portions of the area. So 95 southbound right around cottman avenue, you can see the drive time now up to an hour delay this morning so adding at least 45 minutes before you even head out the door. So we do have tow trucks on the scene. We have two lanes getting by. Thats the good news. We have the cameras zoomed in on the road crew in the area. I can tell you two lanes are getting by but a big backup. Youre going to have to stop and get some to go food but on the schuylkill expressway, also watching an accident scene on the westbound side around gladwyne. We did have this pushed over into the righthand lane with only one lane squeezing by. You can see thexnjtt activity is in the righthand shoulder and traffic is moving through the area. Nbc 10 reached out to the university for comment, were still waiting for a response. From our delaware bureau, the Wilmington Community is rallying to bring attention to the rise in violent crime. This is the scene at yesterdays first ever 302 guns down peace rally. The goal of the event to help educate the citys youth and turn them away from a life of crime. Along with organizers local Business Owners were there offering job opportunities. They hope the citys message of peace will be a lasting one. Get the community together. Former tennis star james blake plans to meet with the mayor and commissioner today. The Surveillance Video showing a new York City Police officer tackling blake during a mistaken arrest earlier this month, that happened outside of a Manhattan Hotel where blake was staying during the u. Gun fire disrupted sunday service at an Alabama Church yesterday and police say it all stemmed from a domestic dispute. Investigators say the shooter james minter shot his girlfriend their son, and the pastor at a church in selma. All three victims are in stable condition. Minter is behind bars on attempted murder charges. A detroit man is accused of planting booby trapped bombs to protect his medical marijuana. They blew up when he stopped on one. He was hurt from the shrapnel. Investigators say he exceeded the a. Marijuana he is licensed to grow for medical purposes. Out west authorities are investigating the death of a man near the wild fire burning in Northern California as suspicious. Crews were starting to get control of the fire in Monterey County when the flames grew more intense. Police say they are looking into whether the man took his own life. The fire destroyed ten homes and turned 1200 acres. The Holocaust Memorial museum in washington, d. C. Is hoping that a new online tool will help predict and prevent mass killings. The goal of the Early Warning project is to produce Early Warnings that can help governments, policy makers and advocacy groups decide where to concentrate evidents and its available for the first time publicly. Were adding on a significant amount of time. About a half hour or so. Schuylkill expressway especially past this scene around gladwyne. In both directions between airport circle and pennsauken township. Route 130 in collingswood. Shift. Minutes we will go over the accident scenes and share your drive times. Normally would take bad weather to produce those traffic problems but the weather is not the issue this morning. It is cooler, and it is fairly cloudy. Were going to see cooler weather this week. We do have possible showers moving in later today and tonight. And well have an update on the forecast for the big weekend. You can see in the distance, we have a nice sun rise. Its far out to the east before the clouds come in. Then you can see the clouds, generally high level clouds so not producing any rain. 61 degrees, the winds out of the northeast, 12 miles an hour. 11 degrees colder than this time yesterday. So may need a jacket or sweater. At least for the very beginning part of the day. Its going to warm up, obviously but its not going to warm up near the 80 degrees that we saw yesterday. You can see all of these clouds coming in from the southwest. Couple of sprinkles approaching washington, more significant rain in southwestern virginia. And some of the updated computer models showing the clouds continuing and some of the showers coming up from virginia. This model is very bullish on that moisture and has rain across a good bit of the area for the afternoon rush. So certainly should take umbrellas today because of the possibility of this. This is generally a fairly reliable model especially for short range. Now longer range were going to be watching this storm off the coast for later in the week. The wind is going to continue to be off the ocean, but a lot of the computer models keep that just far enough south so we stay dry. Mostly cloudy and cooler with the shower chances increasing during the afternoon. High temperatures only in the low 70s. The sevenday forecast, chance of showers even tomorrow morning. And then it is not all that cool for wednesday and thursday. Then we cool down and clouds increase late in the week. Right now looks like the rain may stay south. We are seeing a pretty nice sun rise but thats because we have clear skies way out in the ocean. The rest of the sky is looking cloudy. There is the brightness and theres the cloud cover. Those clouds are way up in the atmosphere so not capable of producing rain at the moment. We could see the cloud cover on the satellite and radar, but the closest rain of any sort even sprinkles is near washington, d. C. This area is more present in southwest virginia that could affect us later today and into tonight. Were in the mid 50s to near 60 degrees right now. Quite a bit cooler than we were at this time yesterday. May want to take an umbrella for later on today. The clouds are going to be with us. Thats going to help keep the temperature down too.
