The late Arlene Ackerman unfairly steered a nobid contract to a minority owned firm. That firm sued over a contract involving surveillance cameras. Ackerman died in 2013. Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich is holding a Community Meeting in horsham to talk about the next step for neighbors impacted by tainted drinking water. The meeting is at 6 00 at upper moreland high school. Brockovich will participate via video conference. Tonights meeting comes after a meeting of the Horsham Council last night. They decided to put Filtration Systems into some of the townships public wells and buy water from north wales. The council wants the navy to pay for it. Neighbors at the meeting praised the move but say theyre still not comfortable drinking their own water. Drinking bottled water out of an abundance of caution. Id rather be safe than sorry. Horsham township had to shut down 5 of its 15 public wells because of contamination from the former Willow Grove Naval air strags. Improvements will be made by the end of the year. Mayor don guardian and City Council Members will hold a Public Meeting at city hall tonight at 6 00. Theyre expected to have an update on the plan to fix the citys budget before the state steps in. Governor christie and the legislature gave Atlantic City until midfall to shore things up. So far, the city said it will drom up cash by selling off profit and raising fees for permits. Five of the citys eight gaming houses would be affected by a walkout in Atlantic City. The workers want compensation for past givebacks. A Folcroft Police officer shot seven times is recovering at home this morning. Squad cars from across Delaware County followed officer Christopher Dorman from the hospital to the Folcroft Fire Company said. The 25yearold had volunteered there since he was a teenager. Hes not talking specifically about the shooting but does say he is grateful for all the support hes gotten. Id like to say thank you to everybody for being there for me and my family.
