Its getting thicker in northeast philadelphia and Philadelphia International. Youll see some light fog to start with in new jersey and delaware, too. It is likely to get thicker this morning before the temperatures climb. Its already warm this morning. Were back in the middle 60s, which is typical this time of year for a high temperature, not the morning temperature. Morning temperatures are usually in the 40s. Were much above normal and well see another warm afternoon. 81 yesterday. It will be near 80 degrees today. There is a chance, however, of some showers in new jersey. Lateday showers in the Lehigh Valley. At the shore, youre likely to see some of the rain coming in this morning. Ill walk you through the forecast hour by hour to show you when the showers are likely to hit when im back within the next few minutes. First, lets get a check of traffic with Jessica Boyington. State lawmakers will look for answers as to why a speeding new Jersey Transit slammed into hoboken last month. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante is live in our Digital Operations Center with a preview. Lawmakers say they want to know more about the inner workings of new Jersey Transit in the wake of the crash. They also say theyre looking to learn more about the safety issues on the Commuter Railroad as a whole. The joint senate and Assembly Oversight committee will hold the joint hearings starting today in trenton. Lawmakers voted to give themselves subpoena power as they investigate. State senator bob gordon of Bergen County says hes concerned with the numbers. He says njt has had 53 press of its accidents attributed to human error. The Associated Press is reporting njt has had 157 accidents since the start of 2011. They say thats three times as high as the accident rate on the long island railroad. September 29th, the National Transportation Safety Administration says the commuter train that crashed in hoboken was moving at 21 miles an hour. The train should have been moving at 10 miles an hour or below. They are determining why that train wasnt going slower and caused that accident that injured 100 and killed 1 woman standing on the platform. The engineer says he does not remember the accident. On wednesday, u. S. Senators bob menendez and cory booker asked federal officials to investigate safety and funding for njt in light of this crash. Later this morning, philadelphias Historical Commission will hold a hearing about a condo project on jewelers row. Several properties are scheduled to be demolished for the condo tower. The commission plans to review its decision to designate those properties as historical places. Now, the developer has the permits needed to begin the project. The mayor says the developer promised to build the condo in a way that fits in with the rest of jewelers row. 6 05. Convicted excongressman chaka fattah has been cleared of four of 22 counts of his corruption case. A judge agreed yesterday to acquit fattah of four bank and mail fraud counts but the conviction on the most serious bribery count stands. Fattah was convicted in june of orchestrating several fraud schemes to raise money for his campaign and personal spending. A sentencing date has not been scheduled. Now to decision 2016. It returns to battleground pennsylvania today with republican president ial nominee Donald Trump Holding a rally in newtown, bucks county tonight. Before arriving in our area, trump will campaign in johnstown, pennsylvania. Also today, Vice President joe biden will stump for democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in wilkesbarre. Her running mate, senator tim kaine will campaign in state college. Yesterday, trump promised to accept a clear election resuh if he wins. During the debate on wednesday he said he would decide when he sees the result. The gop nominee claims that the race against Hillary Clinton could be rigged against him. We spoke it a local historian who said that peaceful transfer of power dates back to the hardfought election in the 1800s. Were likely to see a few rain showers. 68 degrees right now. 67 at 9 00. Well get breaks of sunshine, 74 degrees. As the temperatures warm during the day, any fog will disappear. But then were watching the radar. The Doppler Radar shows a bit of activity thats getting very close to the jersey shore. Thats a line of showers that will be impacting new jersey first thing this morning and into the later morning hours. Those showers coming in to play. Philadelphia stays dry during the day. Any fog and low clouds will be thinning out. Sunshine, look at those temperatures. Upper 70s, near 80 degrees this afternoon. The suburbs will see clouds and sunshine into the middle 70s. Thats by lunch time. And in the Lehigh Valley, a dry start. But clouds will be building late in the day. 68 degrees right now. 67 with sunshine in the morning and into the early afternoon hours. Look at those temperatures take off, 77 degrees this afternoon. Then 76 degrees, a few more clouds around late in the day. As we head into the evening, were likely to see rain moving in from the west for the Lehigh Valley. But during the day, its new jersey that will see the clouds hanging in there, 10 00, noon, likely to get rain showers. Those showers push to the north and drying out with sunshine in the afternoon. 70s, at the shore, too. The showers come through this morning at the shore. Youll get breaks of sunshine. Delaware stays dry. Youll see a bit of fog this morning. That will thin out and enough sunshine to warm temperatures close to the levels that we saw yesterday afternoon, upper 70s for today. But if youve been checking out the sevenday forecast at the bottom the screen, you can see clearly this warm weather is not going to last past today. Some big changes on the way for the weekend. North, southbound, no big problems or delays. Seven minutes from this point around 29 if youre headed towards the schuylkill expressway. Average speeds into the 60s there as well. No big problems on 202. There is an accident thats still being reported at least at 4 00 this morning in lansdale, 6th street and kennelworth avenue. This is headed south, moving towards the delaware memorial bridge. No real traffic, a couple of cars, a truck or so moving through north or southbound there on the turnpike. Watch for emergency construction. This is also in new jersey, winslow township. Theres easy pass lanes that are closed for repairs. Watch for crew in the area. You dont want to be flying through the toll plaza. Its on the Atlantic City westbound, route 536. They call it a miracle. Crews have removed debris from a small plane that crashed into a Camden County backyard. Well tell you whats next in the investigation and how the two survivors are doing. And a multimillion dollar expansion opens today at philly international. Well tell you what this new baggage area has to offer to travelers. If youre coming from here, 95 around girard avenue, starting to see an increase there. 19 minutes from woodhaven road to the vine. Thats just moving and thats a drive time approaching center city. You can see the southbound side starting to see a little bit of that delay. The northbound side looks better, especially at this time of morning. Watching the blue route as well, checking drive times, southbound from the schuylkill to 95, 15 minutes, even better, maybe a minute better on the other side if youre headed northbound from 95 to the schuylkill. Heres 76 in new jersey, not the schuylkill expressway. This is Gloucester City around market street. Right before we split to the two area bridges to the walt whitman and the ben franklin, no big problems or delays there. Youll have to pull out the jackets and the sweaters after today. Heading out right now, as you can clearly see, areas of fog and it has been thickening. We have a warm one ahead of us today. The temperatures climbing into near 80 degrees this afternoon. While the temperatures will be going up during the day, its umbrellas going up this evening. Rain willing moving into the area this evening. A few spots could see rain showers during the day today as well. Right now, we are seeing temperatures warmer than yesterday morning. 67 in trenton, mt. Holly. Look at philadelphia at 65, 66 degrees in wilmington. Wilmington is right where it was yesterday. Coatesville, allentown is 9 degrees warmer than yesterday. And up by 7 degrees in mt. Holly. Neighborhoods right now in philadelphia include 66 in andorra. Theres that 65 at Philadelphia International and it is in the upper 60s, closer to 70 right now in richmond. Were back in the upper 70s to near 80 this afternoon. Well see clouds and sunshine, a slight chance of a shore in somerton. There are showers working through new jersey. You wont see them in the suburbs. Youll get breaks of sunshine and any clouds disappear. Late this afternoon, the Lehigh Valley will start to see some clouds take over with the chance of showers. This morning, the first showers will appear at the jersey shore. Afternoon, shower activity will diminish and the temperatures will warm into the low to mid70s. Those same showers will be moving through trenton and evesham township while it stays dry during the day today in delaware. But tonight, different story. The showers that will be moving through south jersey during the day today are quickly moving towards the coast now. Theyre offshore. But the rainfall thats coming in tonight, thats coming in with a cold front. Look at that system. So impressive through the ohio valley and western pennsylvania and into new york. That sweeps through and behind it is much colder air and thats what were going to get tomorrow. A dramatic change over the weekend. Near 80 today, look at those temperatures tomorrow. 50s. Lingering showers in the morning, then gusty winds during the day on saturday. The winds die down on sunday. Were back in the low 60s and lots of sunshine. Perfect autumn football weather. Eagles versus the vikings. Upper 50s for kickoff for the morning game, starts at 10 00. By the fourth quarter, into the low 60s sunday afternoon.
