The morning commute is under way on this day four of the septa strike, bus, subways and trolleys not running. Talks continued into the rl i Morning Hours but ended with no settlement. Those talks will continue today. Jessica boyington joins us now with a check on the morning commute and the impact of the strike. Jessica, you have Something Else thats happening there. You have an accident youll tell us about . Right. Skyforce 10 just popped over an accident scene on the schuylkill expressway. This is right around south street. Now, majorly under control, for the most part the accident is on the righthand shoulder. c its coming off the ramp from south street to the schuylkill expressway headed eastbound. You can see the slowdown there, behind the ramp, all traffic has to come to pretty much a complete stop and merge into the westbound traffic. That was the schuylkill expressway headed eastbound just around south street. Theres another view of that there. You can see with the police activity, no big delays behind it. We are starting to see some of the Regional Rail delays. 20 minutes on the elwyn road line, 27 minutes for train 326, dealing with equipment problems. Also newark and west trenton line delays. Matt, where do the contract talks stand right now . Well, tracy and vai, right now, theyre still in negotiations and those negotiations are expected to resume later on today. The top of the 6 00 hour here. Were not even into the busy rush at this point. Still no deal. Septa and the transport Workers Union at odds going into the fourth day. Both sides talked late into the night once again. Septa claiming that the union is not engaging in good faith negotiations. The unions say they have been prepared to bargain day and night. Once again, because these buses, subways and trolleys are not running, people are trying to find a way to get around. I have to get up extra early. When i get off work i have to walk up to 78 and ogant. Its just too much to handle right now. How far do you have to walk . Its about 20 blocks. Its ridiculous. Just ridiculouridiculous. This is the back and cforth. Theyre going to give them what they want. Just give them what they want up front. Theyre the only game in the city. So back here, you see some septa ambassadors checking tickets and helping people using Regional Rail here. Of course you have some of the people who used to take their buses and now they have to wake up early to walk over here or get a ride to this location. The focus now really starting to turn to next week with election day coming up. Septa trying to get striking workers back on job so people can get to the polls. As i mentioned, those negotiations going into the fourth day here of the strike. Those negotiations are expected to resume later on today. Well follow what happens. New from overnight, we have learned the ages two of Young Children critically injured in a house fire in philadelphia. Firefighters rescued an 11monthold and a 6yearold from a burning home on sheldon street in olney. They took one child to einstein medical center, the other to st. Christophers hospital. Investigators are still trying to determine if anyone else was in that building. Lawmakers will hold hearings in trenton today to look into new Jersey Transit management, operations and safety. The hearings come in the wake of the september 29th train crash in hoe bok than killed one person in that station and injured month are than 100 others. Joint assembly and Senate Committees will hear from new Jersey Transit executive director steve santoro. The central pennsylvania man who Jerry Sanduskys lawyers believe is victim number two is scheduled to testify today in the former penn state coachs bid for a new trial. c victim two is long believed to be the boy who assistant coach mike mcquery saw said that he saw sandusky sexually assault in a shower room in 2001. Sanduskys lawyers allege prosecutors hid the man from jurors at trial because his story did not match mcquery. Sandusky is serving a 30 to 60year sentence f. The department of education says the university violated the clearly act which requires colleges to report campus crimes and warn people if their safety is threatened. The fine follows the fiveyear federal investigation which cited penn state was at least ten violations. Penn state Officials Say they are reviewing the findings. Atlantic citys mayor says the city has given the state of new jersey new details about its financial turnaround plan. Mayor don guardian says the city submitted supplemental information. The state department of Community Affairs after the city rejected the fiveyear plan. Guardian did not offer specifics. He says he hopes the new information will accept the state to accept the plan and prevent a state takeover. Yesterday, state, local and federal leaders announced 22 million in grants for projects to reduce flooding in wildwood and north wildwood. It will pay for drainage improvements on pacific avenue in wildwood and a new pump station and other projects in north wildwood. There are a few neighborhoods that are in the 40s but mostly its low 50s for audubon, swedesboro, pitmann, clayton, voorhees, medford and lumberton in the 40s. Robinsville, hopewell township, mt. Laurel in the low 50s to start with. Low 50s right now. The showers we had yesterday, there they go, theyre offshore. A few clouds lingering at shore right now. Its cleared out nicely for trenton, philadelphia and Lehigh Valley and the suburbs are in the clear. Thats why the temperatures are a little bit cooler there. But the wind will be blowing. This is an accident scene on the eastbound side on the south street just off of the south street off ramp. Were not catching massive delays by there. Out in paulsboro, 295 northbound around exit 19, mantua grove road. Only the righthand shoulder is block.
