Those are where were seeing the heaviest rain and flood reports. All of the ground is saturate baud we had heavy rain last saturday, sunday and monday and then it was cloudy. So really the moisture in the ground wasnt able to dry out. So any rain that hits the surface, it can lead to flooding. And what were looking at is the threat zone highest over southern delaware and the jersey shore. The yellows and reds is the heaviest rain falling out there. There is now a Flash Flood Warning in place through 8 15 this morning and that is because we already have reports of over three inches of rain that have fallen. 3 to 4 inches is only needed for flooding to occur. The whole area is under a Flash Flood Watch meaning pretty much from philadelphia south anywhere could see flooding as a result of the heavy rain, but the threat really has been cape may and Atlantic County. And you can see cape may is still getting pounded right now. 1 1 3 inch falling per hour. The red is clipping loong talon shore line and up even into parts of burlington county, ocean county as well. You can see the cutoff is right near laurel lake and vineland where drier air is trying to wedge in and clear us out. So there is a look at the Flash Flood Watch i was mentioning for the whole area through 2 00 this afternoon. I think most of the rain though by then will have cleared out and well just be watching creeks and rivers for rising water. So this shows us the rain heavy through 7 00 a. M. But starting to full out of the rest of our zones. Well talk more about the times of this coming up in just a few minutes. You just saw it on first alert radar. Ive been getting video from our viewers coming in. Let me show you some stuff were seeing from avalon this morning. This is indicative of what is happening in Cape May County. You can see that is ocean drive high wear up over the tires of the cars. The cars that werent moved to Higher Ground will potentially have some damage, some flooding, water inside of those vehicles later on today. But as you heard crystal say, weve been getting inches and inches here at the shore including here in Atlantic County, more than 5 inches so far. Weve been seeing some folks venturing through the waters, trying to drive through and then they make all sorts of waves when they drive through it. It is risky to venture new the floodwaters. You dont really know what will happen to your car or how deep it is. And ive actually been hearing some reports on the scanner of firefighters having to respond to people who have gotten stuck in flooding here in atlantic and Cape May County. So thats the latest here. I just got video in from a viewer in strathmere in upper township and she is dealing with water inside her apartment. Well bring that to you coming up at 6 00. Ted greenburg, nbc 10 news. We are seeing still the they have dre haveiest area of rain along the jersey shore. We knew that there would be a difference between 10, 20 345mi between the heaviest rain and now it looks like it is just tapping offshore barely near cape may. So this is a good sign because these areas is have been dumped with rain. Atlantic city airport, over 5 inches reporting, 3 of those in the last three hours. Philadelphia north, just light rain now. And for parts of south jersey and New Castle County which were already saturated from previous rain, now have dried out. So a good sign for those areas. At the shore, still half an inch or more falling per hour at the tip of Cape May County. Lewis beach now more of a light steady rain that is falling. If we track along the shore line here from Atlantic City to ship bottom, also some fairly heavy rain falling. But you go out to right near that line of camden and Gloucester County and the rain has pretty much stopped falling in those areas. So a good sign. Still though flooding has already been reported in these areas. Look at these estimated rain totals so far. This is just estimated based off radar, but it looks very accurate to me. About 5 inches in Atlantic County, 2 areas Northern Cape may county. But closer to 2 1 2 in the southern tip may county. This is neighborhood weather. Pull it out a little wider, look at philadelphia. Half an inch. That is very close to the exact report at the airport right now. Wilmington, 0. 4. And i was talking to krystal klei, she tells me this heavy rain down the shore especially in places like margate, thats where this live picture is, down the shore the heavy rain will be with us through about 8 00 this morning. She says it will continue to linger. As we heard from Ted Greenberg moment ago, the advice for drivers this morning especially along this stretch of ventnor avenue in margate is to stay at home because its just not worth it. Those waters can be very deep and its difficult to navigate especially at this hour of the morning when its not light out. Well continue to follow this and well be checking back in with krystal klei and Ted Greenberg throughout the morning. In other news, Police Department on long island is condemning president trumps recent remarks that some construed as favoring rougher treatment of suspects. Im the father of four children, i have a child damians age. I just felt so bad for him. A Facebook Post thanking the ive has been shared more than 1100 times. 5 48 on this saturday. As weve been telling you, the wet weather will be with us much of the day, but krystal klei says the heaviest should move out within the next few hours. Thats right. And this is serious neighborhood weather for us. Some of us are already drying out, others its going to be a while. You can see we almost have this horseshoe over us of rain. If you look close, you can see this wedge is starting to erode the rain out of delaware and Philadelphia County and starting to stretch further south, too. The drier air is pushing the heaviest band offshore, this is a very good thing for us because the shore line has been pounded in those overnight hours with rain amounts. There is the dry area i was talking about, and it will continue to wedge this way. But as it does so, thforces som of the rain down. But flooding has already been reported. And Ted Greenberg is weathering it out there noticing how high the water is rising. Good sign here that Cape May County now instead of the yellows, reds, oranges, now just a deep green. That is still a steady rain, but its not the heavy rain of before. Atlantic city airport, 5 1 4 inches reported so far. And it is certainly over the flash flood threshold. You can see the flood reports, those are the green little boxes. And they are focused over these two counties. Weve also had one report in kent county from alle little earlier this morning. So hour by hour, the model is showing the heavy rain over philadelphia, new castle. Its not accounting for that dry area wedge that is moving in, but still shows us that the heaviest rain sticks over parts of Atlantic County and Cape May County right through 8 00 a. M. , but starting to weaken through the morning hours. So by 11 30 in the morning, some spot heavier pockets are still hanging on and then more spotty showers through the afternoon hours along southern delaware and the jersey shore. But for the rest of us, this will turn into a mostly cloudy, kind of damp day outside. Not necessarily a totally rainy day, but you will see the clouds with peaks of sun breaking through along the i95 Corridor North and west. Not a lot of sun, but peaks of sun will start to break through in the afternoon hours. As for the wind, gusty today around 20mileanhour sustained winds coming from the northeast. But gusts around 30 to even 40 miles an hour are possible especially along the shore line as the storm center starts to pass to our south. So lets talk today versus tomorrow. Today highs only around the mid to upper 70s. And we still keep the rainiest conditions along the shore in southern delaware. Tomorrow, sunny to mostly sunny, temperatures that rise into the low 80s, 81 for philadelphia, and about 83 in the lehigh valley. Well look at the 10 day on 10 in the next half hour.
