Zachry. It is 7 00 a. M. On the dot on your sunday. Lets get you started with your first alert neighborhood forecast. Meteorologist krystal klei is standing by. Krystal, a lot to talk about. Thats right. Today is the precursor for our first alert that starts tonight and into tomorrow. Thats when we really have issues. Take a look. This is a view of center city, the skyline kind of. You cant see the taller buildings because the fog and lowhanging clouds are still hanging tight. Its rain were tracking if you go farther south. Well get to that in a minute. Here the visibility map. Pots down, redding. These are the areas with more dense fog. Notice philadelphia is at 2. 5 miles. Wilmington, youre still looking at dense fog, quarter mile as well. The fog advisory, that dense fog advisory is in effect all the way through 10 00 a. M. Notice areas south, it has been canceled because the rain moving through has helped dissolve the fog issues there. Theres a look at the showers passing through kent, Sussex County and Cape May County as well. This is already starting to weaken. Id e say by about 9 00 a. M. , well see all of this out. Then we get a break from the rain through a good chunk of today. That first alert is in effect. We cant avoid whats ahead of us. The noreaster will develop. Here is what were expecting, rain, heavy at times, particularly monday afternoon. Looking at damaging winds. Those start as early as tomorrow morning. And coastal flooding which may also lead to some beach erosion. Well talk more about all of these risks that we get as we move through your monday coming up. Thank you, krystal. A Philadelphia Police officer is expected to be okay following this crash in west philadelphia. The officers car collided with another at 57th and gerard avenue. The other driver was also taken to the hospital. New this morning in burlington county, police are investigating a deadly shooting there. A man was killed on east broad street in burlington just before 11 00 last night. Officers said the victim was shot in the chest. So far no arrests have been made in that. Its a bridge used every day by more than 40,000 drivers. Now the bridge linking the pennsylvania and new jersey turnpikes is going to be closed, totally off limits for weeks while it undergoes repairs. Reporter right, katy. There bridge was built in the 50s, but this morning it is closed. You can see the work that is going on behind us right here. The cranes are up right around where that crack was found, and now it seems like just on queue the fog is starting to roll back in. You can still make it out there in the distance. The big issue is its really anyones guess as to how long this is going to take to fix this problem. Engineers and construction workers have been working to temporarily stabilize the bridge. Friday afternoon a worker discovered a crack on a steel truss on the pennsylvania side. Traffic was shut down and the work happening now, theyre installing towers that will temporarily support the weight of this bridge. Drivers we spoke with are already getting nervous about the commute tomorrow. Tremendous. Now adding an hour onto my day, my guys, my trucks, everything. The Chestnut Hill neighborhood in philadelphia is on edge after a sex assault took place inside a home. Police say a man broke into a home and sexually assaulted a woman in front of her husband. It happened early yesterday morning. The crime has shocked people who know the neighborhood for being a friendly place. I think its a remarkably friendly place, and im really sorry to hear that Something Like that happened. Starting with a look outside wilmington, delaware. The fog is really thickened up in the last hour. We checked the visibility map. 25 mile which means driving conditions not good in wilmington. South of wilmington we see rain in delaware and along the jersey shore. You see Cape May County and atlantic county, and it clips off before it hits ocean county. This will linger for a couple more hours before it completely moves out. If we time out the rest of your sunday, we see a lull in the rain and winds will stay light. This is right ahead of the system starting to move in tonight. Take a look at your hourbyhour forecast. We start at 7 00 a. M. , there is the rain. What were left with are cloudy conditions, lingering fog as well philadelphia and areas north. As we go through the rest of today, we stay cloudy. Really its later in the day that we showers move back in. About 4 00 to 6 00 p. M. The showers will start from the south. It could stretch through philadelphia and parts of the suburb. This is at 6 00. But most of that kind of weakens before it starts to build back in in the overnight. Thats going to start light rain in the overnight, but it really starts to pick up in strength as we go into your monday late morning and afternoon. Nbc 10 was with the demonstrators as they gathered along the ben franklin parkway. Women and men valleyed for a variety of causes such as health care and the environment. Others say they were protesting against donald trump. Police say the march was peaceful. In new jersey thousands of people rally at the war memorial in trenton. Estimates put the crowd around 6,000 then. Speakers at the event says longterm change will come if more women ran for office or supported other women who do. There were also womens marches in delaware. This is the scene in newark yesterday. Women rallied into side the unitarian fellowship before marching for two miles. Boston is another major city that drew throngs of women for a march yesterday. Itsest estimated more than 150,000 people rallied. They expressed anger that the new Trump Administration will not support the causes they care most about. We can whimper, we can whine or we can fight back. In Northern California nearly two dozen people are safe after rescue crews saved them from major flooding. Those crews sprang into action after a levy broke yesterday. In fact, its thickened up in areas around wilmington, philadelphia, north into the suburbs, Lehigh Valley and berks county. The rain has been falling over the last several hours and we do still have rain thats falling. You see parts of kent county, Sussex County and clipping through Cape May County as well. This is starting to weaken and it is starting to move off. By 9 00 a. M. , most of this should be out. Well still have damp conditions but actually remain mostly dry through much of today. We pull this out, its a wide view for us to show you all of this rain thats still heading in our direction will be clipped by strong stronger storms starting late today into this evening. A little late tonight and the bulk of the rain hits as you go into your monday. Look at the hourbyhour forecast. Well go through monday. Starting at 4 00 a. M. , we mostly see lighter showers moving through. This is ahead of the heavier rain. 7 00 a. M. , morning commute, light to moderate rain. Heavier rain by around 10 00, 11 00 in the morning starts to the southwest and spreads across the board. Notice the yellows and oranges throughout your afternoon, at 2 00, even spots in red. Cant rule out a spot thunderstorm developing here as we go into the afternoon. Really the spots of heavier rain, they continue into the night as well. Its going to start to move off more to the north here you see by 11 30. The potential is there for us to see almost a day straight of rain in and out, heavier and lighter, heavier and lighter. This is the concern that this is going to lead to higher accumulations. In fact one to 1. 5 inches in philadelphia, wilmington to trenton. Lower values farther north. One to two inches closer to the shore are possible by the end of it. Notice some of the pink near the poconos as we go into the later part of monday. The focus of the first alert is the heavier rain tomorrow and wind gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour along parts of the jersey shore and our delaware beaches. The big concern is with high winds like that, high tide. Monday, 4 13, rehoboth beach, could have minor coastal flooding, also the potential for flooding on the jersey shore.
