Thats all were doing for you. Thank you. I really appreciate the support. I can feel the teamwork, savannah. We are on day two. Its a lot different than day one. Yesterday was about 75 degrees and sunny and just perfect. Ideal conditions for cycling. Today its a lot colder in the 50s. Theres a bit of a wind. And were going to go 65 miles today from here in rhode island. We started earlier at the state house. Weve already gone 14 miles. Were going from here in rhode island down to new london connecticut. Weve got a lot of work ahead of us. The word for the course is hilly. Thats what i heard too. Its long but its hilly. So enjoy that. Good conditions though. Cloud cover and cooler its good for the hills. Its true. As a runner natalie, you know this is what you look for. Youre not wanting hot weather. Well check in throughout the morning. But we want to get to our top stories. What one police veteran is call calling the most violent and gruesome crime scene he has worked. It is into the brawl between rival biker gangs in waco texas. Whats the latest on all of this . Reporter good morning, savannah. This all unfolded in the busy noon hour here. More than 200 gang members inside the restaurant behind me spilling out into the parking lot. What police call an allout perp battle between five outlaw biker gangs. Police describe it as absolute chaos. The shootout between rival biker gangs in the central town of waco. When it was over nine were dead at least 18 hurt. Witnesses say bodies were scattered throughout the parking lot. This is the worst crime scene, the most Violent Crime scene. Reporter authorities were on the scene before the violence tipped off that at least five rival factions would be at the twin peaks restaurant. It happened as families gathered for sunday lunch unaware of possible trouble. I was there. My husband was in there. The gang members started shooting people. Reporter police say more than 150 gang members were involved in the fight. More than 100 were arrested. In the aftermath, hundreds of knives guns chains and clubs were found at the scene. There were multiple people on the scene firing weapons at each other and turned on our officers. Reporter as gunfire spilled from the restaurant to the parking lot, some customers hid in the restaurant freezer. What may have been a lifesaving move. No bystanders were among the dead. Overnight the local twin peaks restaurant posted online that they have a good working relationship with police. And that will continue during the investigation. Within the last 30 minutes, waco police have told us thats a lie. Its their quote that theyve known about and been preparing for this for two months. Breaking news out of hawaii overnight. A u. S. Marine osprey crashed after a hard landing killing one and hospitaling others. Reporter these marines were on a Training Mission when it exploded into disaster. The osprey was in helicopter mode attempting to land when it suddenly crashed and exploded into flames. One marine was killed 21 others wounded injured. Many of them seriously. And while marines are searching for a cause for this crash, there is a rare phenomenon with helicopters and ospreys that if its attempting to land too fast it can actually push out the air from beneath the aircraft creating a vacuum and the aircraft will drop like a rock. This has been a really terribly tragic week for the marines at camp pendelton in california. First six of their marines killed in the crash in nepal while on an earthquake relief mission. Now this crash in hawaii. Marines also from pendelton. The cause for both crashes still under investigation. All right. Jim miklaszewski thank you. Another big story the pentagon is watching this morning. Isis militants are now in control of the iraqi city of ramadi. That is just 60 miles west of baghdad. One official saying the city has fallen. Special forces raid killed an isis commander and a key iraqi city has fallen to isis. And parts of ramadi are shown to be abandoned by an iraqi army that was supposed to be on the offensive. Iraqi Security Forces appeared to flee ramadi in the isis advance. The video shows humvees packed with Iraqi Military in full retreat. Leaving a crucial city seeming deserted. Isis affiliate showed isis walking the empty streets. A hospital ransacked. Video also has intense fighting. The secretary of state insisting this morning isis remains on the defensive. It is possible to have the kind of attack weve seen in ramadi but i am absolutely confident in the days ahead that will be reversed. Reporter there has been an intense air campaign to save ramadi. A city 80 miles west of baghdad. The u. S. Has sent weapons and is providing training. Were getting reports minute by minute. But we believe over 500 people have been executed or died in battle. Reporter 8,000 have fled in recent days. Behind them isis controls much of their city and the military base. Packed with weapons. Anbar is of course the region where so Many Americans died during the iraq war. But an iraq official tells me he believes it fell to an isis group with just hundreds. Reporter among the new safety upgrades trains entering the curve where amtrak 188 derailed last week must slow to 45 down from 50. And an automated braking system is now operational for northbound trains too. Meanwhile investigators looking into the cause of the crash say engineer Brandon Bostian doesnt remember the crash. They are looking at this grapefruit sized impact in the windshield. Was someone thrown at the train before the accident . Two other trains operating that night may also have been hit.
