Were happy to have nikki haley here with us, ambassador to the united nations. Congratulations to the vote. 150, in the security council, who means you got russia and china onboard with this. Looking at the list of sanctions, theyre severe. They target a lot of north koreas expaorts, like coal and other minerals. 1 billion a year they can use for this nuclear program. But they have lived under tough economic sanctions in the past. Why are they going to work this time . We dont know its going to work. But its something we needed to do. We said on saturday, this wasnt going to stop our north korea problem. It is going to send a strong message and a united message. It was a strong day for the united states. It was a strong day for the united nations. You had the entire International Community tell kim to stop. You did. And you got china and russia onboard. And that was a diplomatic feat. And the devil is in the details, as you know better than anyone else. How do you get china and russia to implement and enforce these sanctions . I read a quote from a north korean expert in the times this morning. The resolution, 1 ye1 years in e past didnt work. They basically very much said we have to enforce these to be for for this to be legitimate. We have to hold the countries accountable. We will be watching to see who is enforcing. More importantly than that, china accestepped up and said, theyre not only going to vote for this, they announced theyre going to enforce and urged other countries to enforce. The Missile Launch took place right next to their border. Their ground shook. The Chinese People felt it. They know this is series. For decades, your country has been trying to build up some kind of Nuclear Deterrent or offensive capabilities. Youre now this close. Youve got a nuclear device. Youve got missiles that youve shown can reach the heartland of the united states. Your last step is to combine those two things. Why in the world would you negotiate now when you are this close to having the weapon that will give you the strongest hand . He may not negotiate now. I think what we did was, we sent a message. Now, we have gone directly after their hard currency. Think about it. All of the revenue that comes into north korea. It doesnt go to feeding their people. It goes to a Ballistic Missile program. They will not longer will have the money to do that. Can you stop him in time from combining those two things . The missile and shrinking the nuclear twidevise to fit on of t missile. We tried to ask him, whats your end game . If he decides if he strikes to united states, is that something he can win . Senator lynindsaey graham wan this program. Well show you what he said. If theres going to be a war, its going to be over there the hes told me that to his face. He said the president told him that to his face. Theyre not going to tolerate a nuclear north korea, even if it means war. Have you heard that, as well . Zb i know the president is prepared to protect the American People. All of the balls lie in kims court. He has to decide, how far to you want to take this rhetoric . As the person who has to take this to the united nations, as the president said to your face what he said to Lindsey Grahams face . He has not said that. He said all options are on the table. And the discussions we had, well do whatever it takes to counter north korea. Separate issue. Theres a new poll that shows the vast majority of americans do not trust what theyre getting out of the white house. Sucks in ten dont consider the president honest and trustworthy. And only 24 of americans say they trust all or most of what they hear from the white house. Its one thing when youre talking about crowd sizes in the inauguration. In your line of work, this is serious. Does the white house have a credibility problem . Does that concern you . As a governor, every day, you try to get the trust of your people. Thats part of your people. And the only way you get the trust, is not by what you say, by what you do. If you look at the actions, this president , all of the new investment thats happening, a lot of people will say, i dont believe this or that. You say that, look at the actions, ait acknowledges it tacits acknowledgment because you cant trust the words. I dont see that way. I look at results. I know theres back and forth and sometimes unnecessary chatter that goes back and forth with that. But you have to look at the results. This is a time we have to look at the American People and say, are they better today than yesterday . And i think they are. The administrations just received a sweeping report on Climate Change, coming from scientists at 13 federal agencies. It hasnt been made public yet the but its been reported, that were feeling Global Climate change right now. And human activities are primarily responsible for that Global Climate change. Given the fact we just pulled out of the paris climate accord, will the administration embrace the results of this study . First of all, you have to look at, just because we pull out of the paris accord, doesnt mean we dont believe in climate protection. Were saying were not going to sell out american businesses to do that. Will we embrace the results of this report from 13 federal agencies . I havent seen the report. But i dont see any reason why they wouldnt. A lot of this is, were not saying that Climate Change is not real. It is real. Its how do you have that balance between making sure you have jobs and businesses moving and how you protect the climate . The answer is in the middle. Ambassador, nice to have you here.
