Sources familiar with the investigation tell nbc news the older inmate, richard matt quote, charmed prison worker, Joyce Mitchell. And now the wall street journal is reporting that the prison investigated mitchell for an alleged relationship with the other inmate david west as well. She thought it was love. The relationship between convicted killer matt and Joyce Mitchell. But according to the wall street journal prison officials suspected she also had a relationship with david sweat. An investigation conducted in the last 12 months didnt find enough evidence to discipline mitchell butt paper reports that sweat was moved out of her tailor shop. A former guard told nbc news that some prisoners would target the, quote, weakest workers. Civilian staffers like Joyce Mitchell were not considered as quote, hard core as the guards. The inmates even have a name for it. Grooming. Prisoners are masters of manipulation. Reporter ted is a former guard at sing sing. Theyre trying to establish a little ounce of flirtation. Its because of the power differential. They have everything to gain she has everything to lose. Reporter in most cases, sources familiar with clinton correctional say the gain was generally small. This is the second person who Officials Say was aware of plans by a boston man, usaama rahim, to carry out attacks with knives. Rahim was shot last week by Boston Police and fbi agents who sought to question him. Overnight, the fbi arrested nicholas rafin ski 24 of rhode island. Police searched his home last week and also took him in for questioning. Officials say he and another man met on a road island beach almost two weeks ago, and discussed a plan by rahim to behead a new york woman, Pamela Gellar who argued a draw mohamed contest last week in texas.
