A train window shattered by a flying object, taking passengers by surprise on the way to new york. Tonight, we hear from one of the passengers who thought the flying object was a bullet. She snapped this photo of the cracked window, which almost shattered into pieces. Person account of a very scary trip. Watch and listen for yourself. Dramatic photos of the smashed window an amtrak number 2222 tonight, heading from washington. Passengers didnt know what caused it. There was this giant boom. Reporter 30yearold, Taylor Lorenz was on the train. She posted these dramatic pictures on twit, and said someone just shot our amtrak car and a close up of the bullet hole. Immediately everybody looked at it, and said its a gunshot. Is that a bullet in there . Reporter she says the train stopped at the metro station in new jersey. Amtrak police boarding the train to investigate, but a spokesperson said they have not determined what it was that may damaged the window. Loren says one thing that struck her is something the conductor said. He said that it looked like Something Like that had happened before. Reporter the incident comes on the heels of that deadly amtrak derailment last may. That too was anesella heading to newark. Meantime, regarding this latest incident, amtrak says in a statement, amtrak and local authorities are investigating the incident. The violence has commuters on edge before the start of the workweek, as Hazel Sanchez police are still searching for the attacker who slashed a 27yearold man at the 110th street subway station on central park north early sunday morning. Does it make you nervous going underground to ride the subway . When its late, yes. Sometimes when i come back home alone and its late, yes. You get nervous. Yes, sure. Reporter police say the man got into an argument with a woman on the platform. The woman asked another woman for help, and that woman slashed her in the face. The recent assaults underground are seemingly becoming too common. Hopefully, they get it under control. Reporter the most recent subway slashing among at least 6 so far this month, including one tuesday night where police say this suspect sliced a womans hand with a machete onboard a 3 train. Police are also looking for the man in this surveillance 70yearold man to the ground as he entered this boward street station. Police commissioner bratton is reassuring riders the subway system is safe. Im riding the subway system. My wife rides it. It is a very safe system. Reporter cbs 2 has learned to help make it safer, police are discussing the possibility of banning career criminals from the citys transportation system. But many riders we spoke with say they question if thats enforceable, or if its legal. I dont think its fair or possible to pull off. Thats going to be like a good idea, but if they can do it.
