School on staten island. Several Football Players have been disciplined but now parents say innocent children are being unfairly targeted. Cbs 2s Hazel Sanchez is here with more on the controversy. Hazel. Reporter at least two students at Susan Wagner High School say they were hazed boo players at summer football camp. Fourteam members are suspended, the entire Football Program suspended indefinitely. But parents of other players say thats not fair. And they are fighting to get their kids back on the field. Were not saying to stop the version not at all. We want the investigation to continue. We are not saying to stop the investigation, not at all. Let the innocent ones back on the field. Reporter she is the mother of a varsity Football Player at Wagner High School on staten island. She says her senior son was at the upstate Training Camp where the alleged hazing took place. If my son had anything to do with it i want to know, im the first to say. Its upsetting. Reporter at least two students accused other players of hazing including claims of being shot by bb guns, hit with broomsticks and sat upon. A varsity runningback says he doesnt believe the allegations. We drove around each other honestly cracking jokes but thats it. Reporter today team members and parents met with wagners principal to give written testimony of what they saw. Four players have been suspended from school for their alleged involvement. The department of education says we have no tolerance for this type of behavior and the matter is under investigation. One volunteer coach has been suspended and football practice has been halted while the investigation continues. I dont understand why the program cant continue or the boys cant practice until the investigation is over. Reporter the teams first game on saturday is now in jeopardy and parents say so are the students futures with potential Football Scholarships on the line. That scholarship allowed that parent, who maybe couldnt afford college, to get their son into college to get a good education, to have something to fall back on and help themselves in the future. Its frustrating and annoying and i worked hard to get here. Why take this away from kids who are good kids . You destroy their chances because of some few who think they could go out and hurt other people. Its stupidity. Reporter we asked the department of education why wagners Football Program cant continue during the investigation. We mentioned how tottenville high schools Football Program wasnt suspended when they were being investigated for a bullying case in 2012 that resulted in a suicide. The department of education had no comment. Parents at wagner say their School Principal told them he is hoping to get the program back up and running soon. Thank you, hazel. After a rough morning commute the lirr is back running but barely. The systems been temporarily patched up and frustrated commuters are hoping it holds at least until they get home. Cbs 2s Jessica Schneider reports from penn station. Reporter so far, so good out here. Lirrs engineers have made those temporary repairs they say they expect them to hold throughout the evening rush. So there isnt a repeat of what happened this morning. Lirr cautions there could be a breakdown at any point. Reporter rail riders trapped in the middle of another nightmare commute this time long island rail road commuters couldnt get in or out of penn station beginning at 7 30 a. M. Signal failed because of Power Outages just outside the east river tunnels. It was tough. It was not what i was expecting. Reporter lirr trains terminated at the jamaica and woodside stations. Social media was abuzz with people complaining who were stuck at their stops and fighting to move through jam packed trains. Passengers went on subway lines to manhattan and shuttle buses from jamaica and wood side. The packed subway cars and hot, humid conditions made for a miserable start to many mornings. Trains began rolling again at 10 30 but 90minute delays lingered on some lines well into the afternoon. Now many are worried about tomorrows commute. And inside penn station right now the crowds are light. Many people are actually cheerful even after what happened this morning. And the trains right now are running smoothly. Stuck in the miss this afternoon was our own lonnie quinn. Lonnie, your commute took much longer than normal. We were worried you would be late. I just walked in a few minutes ago. It was an awful ride n i was coming in from southampton. My train takes two hours and 36 minutes every day i take that train today it took me 4 hours. People were doing whatever on the train. Keep in mind this gal is having a nap. This is not during the morning commute. Theres space. We werent jammed in like cattle. Some people were, you know, multitasking there on the computers. It was stop, it was go. Sometimes it would stop for a long time. At one point we were stopped outside patchogue and i told the conductor, ill get off. They cant let you off in between stations. So i had to stay and wait. I talked to all sorts of people once i called into work i may not get there. Talk to people, find out what they are thinking. People were on both sides of the fence. Some upset, some taking it in stride. They say monday morning traffic on the highway is like a nightmare. [ inaudible ] so my niece says youre bet better off taking the train so i thought i could be stuck in traffic having to go to the bathroom. At least there are bathrooms on the train. So [ laughter ] these are things you worry about when you get to be my age. You [ inaudible ] people checking their phones and thats the only way i know anything. So i finally got into penn station at 4 00 ran up here to the Broadcast Center threw this shirt and tie on. Lets hope its a better ride home. Glad you made it. Did ac work . It was fine. Look, it wasnt super packed. Again, we were okay. Just took two hours 36 minutes today was 4 hours. At least you had the extra time. Yeah. But i had to get to work so im talking to them here in the newsroom what do i do . Roll some video. Im sure all those people are going to watch and be happy to see themselves sleeping on the train. I will say, look, i take this train every day from july 2, i have been every day commuting 5. 5 hours a day. This is the only time i have had this problem. Lets hope the last. Knock on the plexiglass. If i have any gripe myself, the speakers on the train sounds like youre ordering [ indiscernible ] a lot of people were complaining about that. Yes. An old complaint. Damaged science labs will be sealed off and students will use lab carts until all repairs are made. The explosion happened last month injuring three workers.
