Cbs 2s Carolyn Gusoff reports from Nassau County where prosecutors call this a rare incident that tarnishes the badge. He came here when he is drunk to bother the people. Reporter workers say the offduty cop struck up a conversation with a Woman Holding a baby in diapers. Prosecutors say he quipped he could ticket her then followed her to this parking lot with into her car and groped her as she fought him off. He used his shield as entree to this woman and then put her in a position in a vulnerable position in her own vehicle in front of her own children where she was sexually assaulted. Reporter the married father of five gave the woman his name and foreign number. She called 911 and phone number. She called 911. His union is sticking by him confident that the officer will be vindicated calling the timing troubling. A june incident with an indictment five days before an election. Madeline a long time prosecutor made acting d. A. After her predecessor was elected to congress is in a heated battle with the town of hempstead supervisor kate murray district attorney. It is most troubling that these actions would be taken the only person who exploited anyone in this case is that Police Officer when he exploited this woman. Court date was delayed to accommodate the defense after a monthlong investigation. The officer faces sexual abuse, official misconduct and child endangerment charges all misdemeanors but if convicted he could be stripped of his badge. In long island, Carolyn Gusoff, cbs 2 news. Hempstead Village Police say the officer has been reassigned to modified duty with no interaction with the public while this case is ongoing. Breaking news in queens. A British Airways crew reporting spotting a drone while approaching jfk airport. The crew says they saw the Unmanned Aircraft about five miles northeast of jfk about 2,000 feet up in the air. This happened about an hour ago 5 00 tonight. The faa has notified the nypd so that they can find who was operating the drone. New information tonight on officer accused of a deadly drunk driving crash in march. The defense attorney for pedro abad says his client may have been drugged. At a hearing today he asked for access to abads blood samples so it contested for ghb. Police in the bronx searching for a suspect accused of attempting to rape an 8yearold girl. Surveillance video captures the suspect in mount hope saturday. She was treated at the hospital. A new Jersey School bus driver caught on camera using a cell phone while driving. A student on the bus recorded the female driver taking a photo of a stuffed animal state parkway on tuesday. Later she is seen texting and looking into her phone. The student from the Academy Charter High School School in lake como sent a text to her mother saying she feared the bus would get into a crash. The school says the substitute driver has since been fired. A College Basketball coach in westchester facing prison forged grades. 42yearold tyrone is accused of doctoring transcripts for players at Westchester Community college stow they could get into fouryear schools. Prosecutors say he submitted nine formed transcripts between the spring of 2012 and the fall of last year. Some of the fake documents delivered by hand, others fax or mailed. Investigators say 34yearold Christopher Poole was mixing meth in the front seat of his car. He was arrested yesterday during a routine traffic stop near route 46 in wayne. Police say they noticed something suspicious. They called hazmat teams, a bomb squad and drug they knock on the windows and obviously fumes started coming out of whatever he was mixings. They withdrew him from the vehicle and the car filled up with smoke. And then they middle it, too. It smelled like ammonia. Christopher poole faces several drug charges because of the arrest last night. Today marks three years since Superstorm Sandy hit. And now all this time later theres still a question that lingers. The boardwalks and the beaches have largely been restored. Subway shafts will be sealed when necessary but many homes were never repaired and theres a nagging sense about what happens when we get hit again . When the storm came ashore it breezy point raging flames tunnels turned into rivers. That water is now spilling over into the brooklynbattery tunnel. Reporter and lives were lost in a rage of nature. Three years later we are still rebuilding. The city says some 60 of the people in the program are getting financial help. Dan is the director of the Mayors Office of recovery and resiliency. He says the city has been hardening coastlines. We put in place 2 million cubic yards of sand on our beaches, 10 miles of dunes and bulkheads upgraded. Reporter the boardwalks have come back largely, like this one in belmar. But rockaways is still being rebuilt. Sandys floods wreaked havoc on subways. Fema has now given more than 2 billion for hospitals to relocate generators and build floodwalls. The night sandy rolled in i was standing right here in the battery and i saw something i dont think i could have ever imagined in manhattan. Reporter this is supposed to be an evacuation zone and this is the best advertisement for an evacuation zone. Look at this water. That guys car, you can see it in the back thats not coming out for a while. A few blocks away floodwaters poured into the battery tunnel. [children screaming ] its scary to think that kids would definitely go into a strangers house without knowing them. Thats creepy. Halloween safety is vital. I think you could use it as a jumping off point. You sit down as parents and you talk to your kids and you say, you really have to be careful. Everyone is a good guy in these kids eyes but thats not real life. Not everyone is good. They want to go by themselves, but they are not allowed to yet. Newark, new jersey was 75 degrees today. The 73 in central park thats the typical high in central park for september 21.
